Thank you Elisa for your strength and bravery in tackling this subject. So many of us go through these experiences without anyone even considering the implications of their actions. We definitely need advocates for us!
You are such a delight to listen to. I really enjoy your personality and your perspective. That's really sad to hear you haven't had great experiences, even w black doctors. Can you talk more about that? As I'm aging, and my period and hormones are changing, I'm not entirely sure what to look out for now that my convos will be shifting from the usual AND I wanna get ahead of preparing for peri menopause 🫠🫠🫠
@@nikietalambert6936 you’re so sweet; thank you! I’m starting to realize that some doctors don’t have much leeway and insurance controls a lot of what they can and can’t do. I’d be happy to do a video on my Black doctor experience. I do have one dropping next week with questions to ask your doctor!
I had an experience with bleeding for two years straight. It felt like an endless period. I went to my OBGYN at the time and all I was prescribed was birth control pills. I took them for about a week or two and stopped, because I didn't see a change. I had to seek a 2nd opinion. So, I went to an optimal health specialist and she told me I was vitamin deficient, so my body couldn't regulate my cycles. She gave me some nutritional supplements which helped for a while. It began to regulate my cycles to about 7 days a month instead of all the time. Still It was a heavy 7 days. I didn't know what to do. So fast forward to 2016 ( I was 32) my aunt a retired RN introduced me to some period pads created by a Melanated Brother. They changed my life. All this time I found out it was the pads with highly toxic chemicals (Always Brand) that was causing the heavy bleeding. Since using these graphene based pads, I now have four- to five day cycles, and moderate to light periods. They were a life saver for me. I didn't think it was possible.
Love that you continued to pursue answers instead of just accepting what was being offered to you. Happy to hear that it's all working out now and you were able to regulate your cycle. That's major!

Thanks for your kind words and for watching! We definitely need to have more of these open conversations around our periods.
