This may be a local rule, but if you're the guy setting the "challenge" in horse and everyone does it, then the guy who made the challenge too easy takes a letter.
This makes it so people are incentivized to do things right at the limit of their ability, making things interesting
I like that rule because it also guarantees that someone gains a letter each round, ensuring the game will end at some point.
I also feel like to encourage variety, a player should not be allowed to pick a character they have already picked (or at least not be allowed to do it back-to-back, depending on how many characters are available in a given game and number of players).
imo this doesn't transfer perfectly bc in horse if you try a hard shot and miss it doesn't matter, but in melee horse, if you try a hard combo and miss your opponents give you a letter with up throw up air

The best way is just to have someone call exactly what they are going to do prior and if they can't complete it the setter just rotates to next person.
how Falcon's gentleman works, from SSBWiki: "The mechanics of neutral attack continuations in Melee are complex.[1] In essence, a neutral attack's infinite is triggered if the player presses or releases the A button a set number of times while executing the first few hits, but these "toggles" do not count if the character is in freeze frames, or is standing still after a hit yet still within the window to continue into the next hit (or "idle continuable time"). The first press to initiate the neutral attack also does not count. Captain Falcon specifically has a toggle count of 4, meaning that under normal circumstances the infinite launches after 4 toggles, which is when the player presses A (or Z) the third time. As a result, the input to trigger the Gentleman is normally the same input that triggers the infinite, meaning that to get only the Gentleman, the player must "drop" at least one of the toggles by placing them inside freeze frames or idle continuable time. Therefore, missing one of the first hits makes it riskier to go for (as there are no freeze frames to drop a toggle with), as having to wait for idle time slows down the combo and makes it easier to react to.
With such technical information unavailable for a large part of the technique's life, players created several subjective ways to achieve it. The player can perform the third neutral attack input by pressing any button in conjunction with the neutral attack (Isai finds this easiest to achieve with Z). S2J discovered that one can hold down on the control stick after the initial jab and continue the rest of the combo to do the Gentleman. The safest and most guaranteed (but not necessarily the easiest) method is to simply allow each jab to complete its animation. However, the first two methods do not work if the jab combo whiffs (even the last method has a chance of failing if the first or second jabs whiff), leaving Captain Falcon wide open if the opponent can escape it in time.
In the PAL version of Melee, Captain Falcon's toggle count for triggering the infinite is changed from 4 to 7, so it cannot be triggered until the player presses and releases A a minimum of 4 times (and none of the toggles are dropped). This makes the Gentleman trivial to perform, making the combo much safer both on whiff and on hit."

Traditionally in games like horse or skate you have to call what you're gonna do BEFORE you do it. That way you can't just do whatever and add stuff to it at the end like the "No tipper F-smash". like in HORSE you'd show from where you're shooting and then say "swish" or "backboard" before attempting the shot.

This is my favorite of the minigames that GG has put out for sure... hope to see way more videos in this series. Thank you GG! So funny and great to see more gameplay than game knowledge.
First: I like this format, really entertaining.
Second: I feel the ruleset should be revised a bit. If something like Pivot counts (like it did in the final example) then I also think that cross-ups and such (can be seen at 22:50) should also be considered part of the combo.
But maybe that's just me, dunno.
Usually in horse if everyone does your shot/trick you get a letter. Might be better with that format but really fun episode regardless

In the future, I would say the person making the combo should have to call what they are attempting initially and if they fail for trying to set the bar too high they would earn the letter. Rather than them just failing and everyone trying to do whatever they scrapped together.

If you do this again, the participants should call out their combo before they do it. Like anything that they want to people after to copy has to be declared beforehand. Otherwise you can just spam random tech skill and see what happens which is impossible to purposefully copy. (I've always thought this was a fundamental rule when I play Basketball horse)

To empty gentleman consistently, you can briefly walk between jabs 1-2 or 2-3. Don't walk too much or it will reset to jab 1.
Try to bring SilentWolf, KJH, Lord, etc on the next show. I think that would be super entertaining

To empty gentlemen easily you can buffer walk after jab 2, let stick back to neutral once you start walking and press A. Hold A until you interrupt again otherwise jab 4 comes out.

Good idea but the rules need a bit of refining I think
Would maybe be good if the person doing it had to call the combo before doing it, do it first, and if they fail they get a letter and it moves to the next player
Also for combos make it so the only thing that mattered was hitting the right moves, no tech no specific hitboxes, just combo the right moves in the right order with the right settings. Makes it so you only have to do tech that's actually necessary for the combo

I'm surprised nobody went for a Peach combo that includes a (certain kind of) turnip that was thrown upwards previously and had to hit at a certain time mid-combo. That could have been difficult.
next time, call out what the combo will be before they go, so they can’t just accidentally do a sick combo.

Drill uptilt doesnt combo unless you get a late last hit on drill. Aim for drill input on airborne frame 2 and fast fall on first possible frame to guarantee max plus frames. Also staleness is a thing

Why don't players do this event more? It was insanely fun. But for future reference, if they do the event, the players have to be miked, the player's reactions are 90% of the fun.
