I have seen Mang0 lose some hard ones, but this one felt like it escaped from him. Still, I will always thank him for going out there and giving his best, for all of us.

@@PERSONALEEMG what it took to take mango at his peak performance down was amsa putting his entire tournament on the line for a frame perfect parry. mango would have absolutely won the reset and amsa would have lost if he messed up the parry. as a spectator i could not have asked for a better win

@@mav9987 arent parries a 4 frame window? and he only really gets burned if the parry is too late, since an early parry results in normal shielding? I could be wrong but I think thats how parries work

I actually thought he just slammed his controller onto the table. This angle revealed the dephts of the spike.

That might be the most emotion I've seen out of a Mango loss (at least recently). I'm curious if it was more over not winning or losing to aMSa specifically.

It's so important for the game that he cares that he lost.
He said it was both. Mango is such a fighting game character in and of himself. He's mad he lost and wants to play him again. He did say that melee won today and he'll always prefer that.

He’s lost to amsa in the past, it’s more than this was such a monumental tournament to have under his belt, as it’s claimed as one of, if not the most stacked tournament of all time lol. He’s trying to reclaim the rank 1 spot, he knows that a number 1 placing here would’ve put him in contention for top 3-1, likely first with his last handful of placings. In addition to mango having half of all big houses to exist won, if he had won this one. Was a monstrous tournament for him in terms of placing, legacy, personal pride, everything. He’s got nothing against amsa whatsoever lol, I don’t think anyone does

Oh, yeah definitely. I didn't mean to imply that. I just didn't know if he or other people still had that mentality that they "shouldn't be losing to Yoshi." Not really aMSa in specific, I guess.

@@rockzyk1291 The cool part is aMSa is kinda changing the expectations surrounding that. its not really so much as 'losing to yoshi' as it it is losing to aMSa. Pro players don't really have the luxury to think that way against competition. No one else is really playing yoshi at the level of play that aMSa is rn. The innovations and tech he has demonstrated in the last 2 years have been catching attention from top players and commentators rightfully so. I think I heard in one of the top 16 sets Toph was talking to HBox about warming up/practice sets against yoshi and Juan said something along the lines of "I think aMSa is actually going to win it".
I definitely think the frustration was about the prestige of Big House and Mang0 wanting to push himself to new heights. Def a Huge set for him career-wise so I'd say the not winning angle is far more plausible

He single handedly jumped the character up the tier list because of that. It's incredible to think that before last year, this would've been a D-tier character winning.
