It's amazing how a lot of those "advanced" functions depend on the humble wheel speed sensors. Good to know that they now detect direction of wheel rotation. That little laugh you gave before tricking the ABS unit by swapping wires around 🤓. Thanks.
The vehicles and technology are getting more and more complex, so we have to be trained to be able to diagnose and repair these advanced systems. Thanks for your comments 😉
Your presentation is very easy going and makes the video very easy to watch, excellent troubleshooting. Highlights the complexity of modern vehicles that may present major issues as the vehicles age.
You are right Colin. It is getting tougher to be a quality technician. I do courses at least once a fortnight, either face to face or online. The complexities of the systems we have to deal with and even software issues can be a real challenge. Thanks for your comment 😁
Hi I’ve just bought a 2016 mk7 golf the whole dashboard is lit up it does have one spare tire and in the rear left and also the tire is popped on the left front , I’m hoping it’s something to do with this as I’ve seen this quite frequently on forums , every single light is on , I’m taking quite a gamble but dyu reckon it could be caused by these sensors aswell ?
And there isn’t any visible damage to do with any airbags or anything as this car is from an auction and has been verified to be an insurance right off I hope u could help guide me in the right way if it is 🙏
Thanks so much for the video. This kind of info can save much heartache and $$. My Jetta just started having all the lights coming on. Could be a broken wire as well. Thought that was a malfunction since the car has been very dependable the past 2 years.
Yes, keep in mind mice. Here is Australia we are constantly battling the little blighters! Follow the testing procedures in the video and you should be able to diagnose the fault. Fault codes will be a real guide.👍
I have the same problem on my 2017 Jetta. It's an intermittent problem lasts a couple of months then off for a year, then on again. Since new, never addressed the issue. Car runs perfect.
@@MrJoeairman2000 These did have ABS module issues. However, as yours is intermittent, it could also be a wiring issue as well, like shown in the video.
Driving home today my Passat B7 said lane assist gone, ABS gone, power steering fault, tyre pressure sensor gone. Car runs perfectly fine and all those systems work, but very worrying seeing 5 or 6 faults appear on the car while you're cruising down the motorway. I'm hoping it's a similar fault because no way are all those systems broken simultaneously and yet still work.
I’ve got the exact same errors, did you solve it? I’m suspecting a battery, its at 12.5V right after the drive, which is on the lower level for AGM batteries
Had this happen on my Skoda Superb III (2016). Local garage suspected a wheel sensor, but after taking it for a spin, and doing a reset(?) the problem appeared to disappear. They told me to bring it back as soon as it went again (in the expectation that it'd last a day or two at most). That was 2 months ago and it's still working fine. Weird.
Wheel speed sensors can be very sensitive. Could have been a stone caught in the tone wheel, build up of rust, damaged wire - the list goes on. If it is a faulty sensor, given time, no doubt the code will come back.
I had all dashboad lights lid up while i was driving. Engine was fine, But everything dashboard malfunctioned After roughly 15-30 sec of telling me everything was out of order the dashboard went completely dark. I had to drive the car over to a bus lane to see if restarting Would fix the issue, But now the car wouldnt recognise the key. I had it towed to workshop, But after 15 hours of Working on the car the mechanic told me he Didnt Want to keep going. All I know is he had an Insane amount of "databus" errors, and it looked familier to What u showed on this UA-cam vid. Do you have any clue What I Should do? Its a 2016 VW Passat 1,6tdi 120 horsepower
What testing has been done so far? What fault codes were logged? Did they check for CANBUS communication with an oscilloscope? Did they check for rodent damage of wires? Do all modules have voltage and grounds tested using a load? I'm afraid I can't help with the limited amount of information provided.
Hi mate, I’ve just recently changed my handbrake module on my Passat b6, 1.9 due to my handbrake not working. Once all finished by the mechanic my abs, glow plugs and traction control lights have appeared to show on the dashboard. I’ve said to the mechanic what he done but he said that he has done nothing, can you help me out?

Hey Nick, The video shows the wire damaged on the wheel speed sensor loom coming back toward the front of the vehicle. Since this was mice damage, it would be very unusual to find it in the same spot. ua-cam.com/video/1UHpywmw56o/v-deo.html Let us know what you find 😉

My mk6 GTI has a Christmas dashboard and I suspect it’s an issue with the sensor as well. Electrical stuff is kinda scary for me.
If it is not in your skillset, it might be best to take it to a competent mechanic/auto electrician.
