- The wonderful Emmylou live on the OGWT in 1977. Luxury Liner features some Hot Guitar Pickin' from Maestro Albert Lee...........
The Hot Band: Glen D.Hardin, piano; Rodney Crowell, rhythm guitar & vocals; Emory Gordy, bass & vocals; John Ware, drums; Hank De Vito, pedal steel guitar; Albert Lee, lead guitar & vocals
The combination of Emmy's sweet voice and Albert's wicked chickin' pickin' is something to behold. Probably one of my favorite guitar solos ever.
Just saw Albert play the other night.....79 and still playing like he is here
He is coming up to 80 soon .I will be there at the party
OMG the was INSANE!!!!! Albert Lee just KICKED BUTT on this!
Albert Lee shredding country in 1977. I met Albert in Nashville at Cowboy Jack Clements studio to drop a few names and he was a completely humble and modest guy. Loved to play anything in "train time" as he called it. This video is an inspired performance. Watch Emmylou's smile when Albert really takes off.
I love how she just says "ok then" and puts up her guitar so she can jam to his playing. Tamborine is is a good bet if you really want to just happy dance.
Holy shit! I love Albert, but I’m in love with Emmylou...
Who wasn't in love with just absolutely beautiful and har it all The Hot band comon
A couple of years ago i saw Albert at jazz alley. Got his autograph told him luxury liner was my introduction to him. He said he gets that a lot
Albert Lee there ladies and gentlemen. Absolutely insane
Now that's where real country music lives! These cat's really rocked!
Albert is on fire! RWR
Alber lee's on fire, for sure.
And with all that speed and all those notes, he still builds a solo that coheres and is full of nice little twists and turns.
Wow! So good. Could listen to this particular grouping of musicians all day - everyday!
Anyone remember Longplay Records? LP’s they were called. Had this of Emmylou and the hotband. Recorded Albert Lee’s solo 4 times over on a cassette. How it’s all changed now. Sit with an iPad and a mobile phone and don’t get off your ass.
LP’s were played at 33-1/3 rpm, had ten to twelve songs counting both sides. Also known as albums, referring back to when records playing at 78 rpm were packaged three or four discs in an album. The 78’s were heavier, more breakable, and had to be changed more than twice as often.
I just got home from an Albert Lee concert!!
One of Gram Parsons earlier compositions given the Hot Band treatment.
Albert Lee is not only a GREAT guitar picker, but a true original. I've Playing for 50 yrs. Where does he get these riffs?!?
Ive heard many musicians perform "Luxury Liner". This verson, however, paints a movie in my mind of a tricked out "Pete" just cruising down an interstate in the middle of the country.
What a band!
now that is what I call good country music !!!!!!!!!
*of the 50,000 views, 20,000 are mine*
DAMN! Albert's good.
This was THE HOT BAND You better be good with that name and they were. I saw them Live. WOOOO! Emmylou and Rodney can hardly contain themselves and they are in the band! Emmylou gets tire of waving the guitar around and goes for a tambourine to release some energy.
Happy Birthday, Albert Lee.
Thank you, muppet, for posting this.
Emmylou's ear for musicians is as good as her ear for good songs.
One of the all time best entertainers!!
Loretta Lynn aside this is the Queen of country music in my mind
That is some guitar solo
SW her at the Paramont in Seattle on the first date with my future ex to bei in 78 Still have found memories of her performance. The Luxury Liner tour. What a preformance
My brain just caved in. This is wonderful.
Geeezus!!! Albert Lee!.......really?!!
Albert is a UK rocker who gave it up to come to Nashville via Emmy Lou and th Hot Band to be the best damn picker ever. Proving longhairs rules in Nashville too. dylan's Nashville skyline to gram parsons and Emmylou, ricky Skaggs , Albert Lee, Rodney Crowell, doesnt get any better
Amazing
Awesome!
In my DNA! Love this!
The devil sold his soul to Albert to learn playing like him!!!
Going to see Albert play tonite (12-5-15) at The Baked Potato in North Hollywood, Ca.
I came here because I LUVZ me some Emmylou!

Chicken pickers, bow to your master
If you ever get 4 minutes to show hostile aliens why our world shouldn’t be destroyed....
I saw Emmylou as one of the opening acts at the Elton John Dodger Stadium concert in 1975!!
Albert, jeg har set mange ver. af Luxury liner, men denne er absolut den bedste. Det var naturligvis pga. du fyrede den af på Telecaster!
Heehaw!
....was at a Rodney Crowell concert early '90's in LA; saw Albert Lee sitting near the stage. Introduced myself, and stated my respect for him and his nimble fingers. Albert was gracious, respectful, and was an enjoyable 5 minute conversation about his career, and country/rock. Only problem was Carlene Carter interrupted, she was .....shall we say not exactly the classiest female ever met. Albert ignored her.
I think Carlene had some serious drug issues. Her and her partner Howie Epstein from the Heartbreakers got deep into it -- eventually killed him. My understanding is she eventually got clean and I hope still is. That would not be an excuse for bad behavior, but perhaps an insight. She made some fine music too!
Met Carlene and she is a sweetheart lovely
Did that Bass player once play with Merle Haggard?
He may have, but before and after playing with Emmylou,he and keyboardist were in Elvis's band. Hes Emory Gordy Jr,if you want to google.
@@tbomberus He married Patty Loveless
🚛🇨🇦. ❤️
Besides Emmylou, Albert and Rodney, can anyone name the rest of the band?
There is a UA-cam of this concert where she introduces the band. Maybe ten cuts.
emory gordy on bass.rodney, albert..i think hank DeVito on steel..
Best chicken picker ever… why wouldn’t hebe British?
Of course Glen D Hardin Elvis' piano player is there!
Glen D Hardin, Emory Gordy jr, Hank Devito, and me (John Ware)
To think this shares the same generic classification as what Luke Bryan is doing
