Being happy is think about others and being unhappy is just focussing on oneself. When our compassion grows, we notice we have more worries and problems but its not for ourselves and the rewards if far greater.

there's a brilliant "prequel" to this teaching, which we've turned into a book called "Why I Make Myself Unhappy". All looks very simple - and it can be - but the teachings are also incredible profound. Rinpoche presents them in a very logical way, so we don't just fly off the handle when we're sad / angry or jump around like maniacs when we're happy. We figure out what's going on in our heads, then we deal with things better. Get that book. SERIOUSLY. It's that little extra key to happiness

Instead of keep criticizing, finding faults with others, why not reflect on the goodness of others?
We will be more helpful and kind towards others. The next step we should take is to share out the responsibilities with others.
Gratitude and humility give a more open mind to receive teaching , help and happiness.

If one is simply mindful as the Buddha describes in the Maha-satipatthana Sutta while entering a space they will naturally stop criticizing and become full of bliss over time. When we attend the teachings whe should not feel priviledged - we should be mindful. Spending a lot of time is not so great if the time is not spent well. A lot of people get worse at driving over the years into old age. Merely doing something does not create merit - creating merit creates merit :P . Simply follow the teaching and you shall be Buddha :) > You will all be Buddhas regardless actually no matter what you do in this life

It's funny when people crave to be happy, yet they keep wanting to be unhappy by pointing fingers at this and that as the "cause" for them to be unhappy. It sounds funny, but every single time we blame something or someone for our unhappiness, no one in reality is making ourselves unhappy other than ourselves!

This is a very nice lecture but his mockingness at the end is a little much, I think!
