I always enjoy and listen to your talks with joy, but sometimes I cry too
I feel Buddha sent you to me...🙏🙏

Very often, religious leaders (of all faiths) create a fake air of imperviousness, special enlightenment, and all-around superiority. But this man is called a lama and has a large following; yet he's real and honest. Down to earth. In both this vid and his FB posts he speaks openly about his pains, fears, struggles, etc. I highly respect this. I'm not his disciple but I highly respect him and have learned much from him. I wish more religious leaders could display this sort of authenticity.

I think all of Rinpoche's childhood, including the change of parents, the hurt, living in the West, everything allows him to relate to a generation of people who come from broken homes and materialistic societies. His empathy is vast, it encompasses the compassion of Tibetan Buddhism and the knowledge of the needs of the modern person. He has a complete conscious understanding of what people experience in this era and he has the deep understanding and the ability to successfully teach and transfer a fabulous remedy.....the dharma. Thank you for everything.

I am watching you 7 years after you shared this message. I completely relate and agree.
People ask why there is suffering, and this is why. It catalyzes spiritual evolution, which is characterized by groundedness and insight and wisdom.
Excellent, thank you for your thoughtful words! The fact that you have alchemized your suffering into virtue is evident to me. You have a beautiful presence. 🙏

    Beautiful. 🧡
What Rinpoche wants to tell us is to see the same in our lives...that all the terrible things we've endured has helped develop us to where we are today, and our spirit is all that much richer having gone through these lessons..

Most of us often blames others for their unhappiness. I admit, I was one of them b4 but after learning frm Tsem Rinpoche, u realised that the choices u made are made by urself and nobody else. Therefore, we change our perspective, life is so much easier to go through.

Rinpoche’s talk has always been enlightening! Procrastination…how it was described so aptly here by Rinpoche. Covering our own selfishness by saying we constantly need to look for inspiration, this is something i never realised... When we learn something, we do it or we don’t do it, that’s what learning is about. we do what is necessary and we stop when we realise it’s not right. I think the key point here is, just do it. It’s just a shift of attitude.

Thank you Tsem Rinpoche for sharing this wonderful video. If we see our past bad experiences as what has shaped us today, we can be grateful we went through them as you said and try to be better than the best person we can be. Your talks are so inspiring!

Wow! I always wonder this Dharma teacher speaks like that and what were / are his purposes ( spiritually one never dies, present tense should be used here! ) Finally, I found out the reasons behind after I completed listening to this talk. This is a very important advice to me personally, hopefully for others too who are willing to ponder on it. Luckily, it actually got recorded down. Otherwise, it just slipped by and might be totally forgotten by Tsem Rinpoche while his physical body was still alive many years ago. May he return one day for more practical insights that he has lived through personally to share with us. Namo Amitabha. 💖 🙏🙏🙏

Dear Eminence. Often times when listening to your teachings, I feel like you are speaking directly to me as I watch you intently on the screen. In this particular teaching I got shivers as I listened to how you described yourself, your traits, your characteristics and how your childhood was so like my own, it was as if I was hearing my own experience coming from your mouth. Lastly, how similar my thinking about myself is to how you described yourself because of your childhood. However, I am ions away from being anywhere near your kindness, wisdom, loving kindness and compassion Dear Rinpoche. I will continue to work toward it though for I am not horrible, or the kindness, but I am a good person.

This is another form of generosity that Tsem Rinpoche has constantly shown us, sharing his not-so-comfortable life experiences to show how we can learn from it and to look at it from another angle, an insightful one. It's also another example of how the intricate law of karma works, certainly well hidden from ordinary people like us! Thank you rinpoche, may your nirmanakaya body continues to guide us finding our own true nature.

Truly amazing and inspiring, thank you Tsem for your personal story ...😥I am so happy & very blessed to have been brought up knowing both my parents ,somewhat ...more my mom truthfully. It is great to remember where we came from and because of that our characters are built"or the foundation to keep building on".I see so many times, people saying they can't change because it is how they were brought up.I know we can change if we want,You just have to have the determination. My motto in life"Always evolve & grow" ❤✌🏻

    Dear Rinpoche,
I have watched this UA-cam several times before, it didn't give me the same impact that it has on me now. Perhaps it is due to the clear flashback of past events that help me realize why I act the way I do today. Therefore I can relate to what Rinpoche meant by becoming highly sensitized towards resemblance of past hurt, even though what I experienced is nothing compared to Rinpoche's. Realising that these same pain and hurt can be felt by everyone, we must make the instant choice not to do it to others. We can instantly stop our self as the vehicle to transmit the same pain and hurt to others. By changing ourself and being mindful, we will not confuse others with our true intention and at the same time let people know who we really are.
Thank you, Rinpoche, for this valuable sharing that really helps. It stops me from asking "why" or "why me", instead I can focus on making the change, one step at a time. _/\_

On another level he gives everyone who suffered a rough childhood permission to let go of all the stigmas and wrong ideas about themselves from themselves and others/society. IF this precious high lama can grow and transcend from a rough childhood and be grateful and it accept it as a "good" childhood given the powerful lessons involved and conquered THEN anyone who follows the dharma has the potential to generate the supreme mind of awakening. The easy and simple availability and access to the youtube dharma talks is a profound gift. I pray they reach everyone who can benefit and find peace and strength whether they practice Buddhism or not.

Wow. I think it was Mary queen 1 of England (the super unpopular catholic monarch who had a difficult reign) who was asked about her unwavering belief in God even when she was suffering.
To that she replied along the lines of "if we don't suffer, how else will we remember God?"
I was a kid when i heard it and my mind was blown. Why would anyone want to suffer? I had always thought and then it hit me. Happiness without spiritual knowledge is laziness.
As unpleasant as it is in the beginning, Suffering is a trigger. How we take it - as an awakening or misery is up to us.
I bow before rinpoche for his great compassion and wisdom and courage to seek and propogate Dharma for all sentient beings. May he be safe, happy, and well in all spheres.

It rings true to me, and I hope that I will choose to continue to rise to the occasions that this life has provided me, in order to be of service to myself and others. At 62, I am finding great intervals of waxing and waning energy and spiritual practice, though it is always on my mind and behind every thought, word or deed that I create or encounter. bless you.

Tsem Rinpoche, I am not a Buddhist, but I don't know how I found your video, thanks to UA-cam and your hard working, I listened to your story peacefully. As a spiritual master, you gave good advise and share many great thoughts with people, probably helped me a bit too. I appreciate your videos very much, and I would like to give you some advise back. I liked how you talked and reacted 10 years ago, very calm, energetic and balanced, I can tell you are balanced from interior to exterior, from body to soul. But you looked exhausted now even though you talked louder. and I can't feel the balance from your voice as before, it seems your lost balance on your body too, and some management. I hope your take care of yourself and take some break, don't stress yourself just because people demand to meet you. It looks like you gained weight, but I don't see obesity, I see a tired soul. You are very deficient and you need some good treatment. ProbablyHyperactive Liver Yang and Spleen deficiency.

I can relate to this. Thank you, Tsem Rinpoche. What I'm wondering about: I've heard in several teachings from other videos that a state of pure awareness (without the influence of constant mind-stream) is the state to aspire to. But Tsem - who I respect very much - does not seem to consider this. Or am I wrong ? At least I haven't heard about it from him.

I like to listen on emptiness

Hi Timothy George. Emptiness in Buddhism is a very profound. To search more on this topic, there are videos on this blog that helps lay people like you and me to go on the path to achieve Emptiness. However, if you prefer to read, there is a 24 day discourse given by HH Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche which was documented by HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and translated into English. This book is "Liberation In the Palm of Your Hands". This book teaches on the the 84,000 teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni and it teaches all to achieve Emptiness. I encourage you to keep yourself updated through this blog and read more Dharma books. Or, if you prefer, search for a qualified Teacher, take refuge and go all the way to transform your mind. Thank you.
