There are a lot of mediums in North Indian hilly areas who take trances....its a culture there during festivals. Especially during goddess pujas, the protector/land goddess enters someone and they do the strangest of things; eg. - an old granny suddenly jumping up and down with a trident three-four times her weight...almost inhumane acts - someone speaking in a different dialect/tone or even a different voice. - other acts of clairvoyance etc Then again, these are either land deities/worldly deities - so not enlightened...so not a good idea. The thing is, its literally a culture there, [taking trances, consulting etc] so tricky. And of course, there are frauds too, which are everywhere... This was such an interesting talk! Learnt a lot too :)

I trained with others now 38 years do trance often not what you say as protecters . The secret is purification and protection of Archangels os what we call protectors , buddhas have apoeared to me in a good way its simple after 20 years its a way of living i never have spirits of negative kind i am listening because I recently found Dhzanballa and all is well. THANKS for your version Each time the first years I was supervised and them I mastered but not spirits . It was and is sentient beings

Thank you for all the teachings, I´ve chanting Setraps, Sigdogma, Tara and Vashudhara mantras. I started this practice because I used the Necronomicon... I apologize to this spirits for disturbing them and told them they should go. Now things are better, but I still feel stuff... I've been having trouble meditating in any way but shamatha. if I close my eyes or begin to contemplate, I immediately feel my chakras starting whirring with bright light and it feels like I'm blowing up like a marshmallow with a gold presence filling the space. It feels like I'm turning into a gold marshmallow and expanding. I can feel my vessel expanding. What the heck is that? I've asked my shastris and they don't know. Overactive imagination? It feels unbelievable. I've come out of meditation when this happens contorted or with different mudras I didn't realize I was doing. Any help is appreciated.
During a spiritual and physic development class, a fellow classmate described an experience she had where she was sexually attacked by an entity. out of the blue, another classmate , a very well respected person, suddenly dropped her head, and raised her right arm above her head. Her nose began running profusely. I was so shocked I went over to wipe her nose. My teacher told me not to touch her. The teacher started to burn some sage. My back became ice cold. Apparently the entity was hiding behind me. The teacher began talking to the person possessed, calling her name to bring her back. She eventually woke up, but had no memory of what happened.
We have heard many of these cases often. Should you encountered it again, do help them by chanting Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha, burn some Protector rice if you have any or just incense. The best is to ask them to recite the mantras as many as possible, at anytime. Purify the area that they live with incense. But be careful, we do not want to harm them. We just wanted to them to leave the person being possessed in peace only. Seek help immediately.
Rinpoche, could you tell us about the present day Tengyeling Oracle. I understand that he "Channels" Methar. You have taught that Methar is a Dharmapala in Dorje Shugden's retinue. I understand from your above teachings that "Channellers" are more rare than Oracles that take "Trance". Is it true that he is the only Oracle that Methar has chosen to speak through. I also understand helped you in your article on "Methar of Tengyeling". Did he provide you with Methar's "Wrathful visualization? His Mantras? That Methar was placed into Kache Marpo's service? What else did the present day Tengyeling Oracle tell you?

Through these mediums, these spiritual beings are able to predict the future, give prophecies, speak and give us advice. Even His Holiness the Dalai Lama consults these spiritual beings for advice. When a being takes a trance of a deity, their consciousness recedes to the background, the deity take over. In hypnotism, there is no external deity entering the body of the human/oracle.

Temporarily possessed? By spirit? Mind to share your story here? Taking trance is actually a well-planned out and controlled event whereby Enlightened beings are called upon for Dharma teachings, blessings, divination and etc. Although there are times when They will come when They saw the need but it will not harm the host, in this case a monk usually. Whereas possession by a spirit not only will harm the host but will create havoc as well.
Tsem Rinpoche, I have a question or two. You mention different meditations, mantras and prayers for specific purposes; do these prayers still advance one in the spiritual cultivation of self? I assume so, but they seem to be for specific reasons; do these also help with realizing the Divine within? (I am not a buddhist, but I am on a spiritual journey, so this is why I ask). Also, you mentioned the third eye, but I think it was different from what I've learned about the third eye. You speak of the third eye implying that only some people have it. But-- and this might just be a difference of study/ focus on my part), I learned of the third eye as being the pineal gland, in the head; and the aspect of the mind through which one can travel to higher states of consciousness, etc; I thought that all have the third eye, as it is part of our body and minds. I think this is just that you were talking of another thing or perhaps a different aspect.
Hi there, definitely, an enlightened being's prayers and mantra have no limits, it all leads to enlightenment, for example, although Chenrezig is the Buddha of Compassion, and Majushri is the Buddha of Wisdom, it does not mean Chenrezig has less wisdom than Manjushri, or Manjushri has less compassion than Chenrezig, the difference is just to suit us who are still practising. ZionRebirth .Tello i am not exactly sure i understand u fully, but let me put it like this, a buddha is omniscient, he has complete wisdom and complete compassion, so even if u only pray to him for compassion, u will also get wisdom, simply because he encompasses both qualities. if he is not an enlightened being, be it a deity, spirit, human, animal etc. then the situation varies, it depends on the being's motivation - benign or harmful, because unenlightened beings are not omni-compassion or omni-wisdom. Dorje Shugden is an emanation of Manjushri, so he is the Buddha of Compassion and not a spirit.
+Seng Piow Loh hi Pastor Loh, does one needs oral transmissions when one chants Setrap or Mahakala mantras? I had medicine Buddha n 4 arms avalokite empowerments by Khechok Rinpoche before.

Is Hypnotic Trance the same thing as the trance Tsem Rinpoche is talking about?
