My favorite line of this episode
I noticed that lying is an integral part of American sitcoms. They patronize the audience by having the characters "learn the lesson" at the end, only to lie again the next episode. Without lying, there would be no plot, and no show. The message becomes "If you're attractive and charming you can get away with being a jerk and you'll always have friends."
Like Will in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."
Lies make a mess. It wouldn’t be interesting if there was no mess to clean up or fix. Plus no morals to a story either.
It's true sadly. Most people will even know how deeply awful and rotten a person is but choose them over genuinely good people just because they're attractive and fun to be around.

Not necessarily. The point of the show was to show us a ''world'' with characters that weren't governed by political correctness or people that took life too seriously. Zack only seems like a sociopath because we no longer live in the fantasy that we projected onto him and the other characters. So that's what makes this channel so effective in it's approach.

If Ross is trash, his friends are sewage. While Ross isn't the best person, his friends are arguably worse ppl (E.g. He's the only 1 who cares about actually-important, real-world things; When he tries to talk to his friends about said things, they often mock him by pretending to fall asleep).
Everyone in Friends was trash. Only Phoebe might pass as a decent person, sure she had some demons too, but at least was a tad less self-centered than the rest of them.

Narcissists like Zack view kindness and empathy as an asset to be used and exploited for personal gain. Whenever he sees people get positive feedback for actually giving a shit and do the right thing, Lisa in particular, he tries to appropriate or exploit their good-naturedness for his own means in the hopes of getting some sort of capital, social or otherwise.
What he, and many narcissists, don’t get is that Lisa doesn’t act like a good person for social capital, she does it because she genuinely cares and because people can recognize that, they react more positively to when she goes out of her way to help people and less negatively when she admits she made a mistake.
Zack doesn’t get this. He thinks that after being a terrible person he should be entitled to the same respect from his peers that Lisa and Jessie and Slater and Kelly manage to get without realizing its *because* they care about others’ well-being and admit their mistakes they’re admired, not because they go through the motions of niceties in order to get some reward they feel obligated to.
This silly comedy series is surprisingly insightful.

Nicki must've made up an excuse to her middle school principal to skip school. And as far as the boys at her school, they probably didn't like the fact that Nicki's a tomboy; even though she changed her appearance and tried to drive a wedge between Zack and Kelly!

Schools actually allowed a whole lot of visiting different schools before they cracked down on truancy and potential gang violence, but this was completely possible in the early 90's.

In the first ep, I forget what he was doing it for, but he needed a bunch of money, so Zack did a raffle for a trip to somewhere exotic. As I stated, when Mike found out about this, he fucking got em. 'Classic scheme! Promise them all a free trip and all you gotta do is pocket the money! Well, guess what, bitch? That's not happening. You're using that money to grant the winner the trip you promised.'

What actually happened was that ZACK was throwing a party for LESLIE. He tried to get a dance with her but fails. MIKE catches him and ZACK lies saying that it’s a study group but gets caught with a beer 🍺 ZACK and the group had three options: leave the dorm, curfew, or do a research project. ZACK again tried to speak for everyone and get dissed by them, especially LESLIE. He sets up a raffle contest to entice all the freshmen on campus to fill out a questionnaire instead of doing it MIKE’s way. MIKE saw this con game and sets him straight making sure that a PRIZE was awarded, and ZACK paid the biggest price by paying for it. So he had to work for the money to pay for the trip.
And the actress who played Nicki would go on to voice Katie Kaboom on Animaniacs. Imagine HER reaction to being led on and dumped by the coward Zack.
