Also spray the schrader on the gauge for the propane air test. That could be leaking too. Happens alot. Usually there is a valve on there to close so that doesn't leak.
We did check that valve, we found the problem. I'll explain in an upcoming video
Windows & Siding. How exciting. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Probably not as excited as you and Tiffany are.
Hi, Andrew! Good you caught this leak now!
Right!
Ironically... my career is based on my natural born ability to break stuff (since age 5 I think, according to my grandmother's recollections of the Sears' repairman visits). So, I guess I'm considered a hacker of sorts. When something fails miserably, I simply say I was testing and found a problem. SUCCESS!
Lol well I guess that's one way of looking at it.
Man after all this being setting & done you will be able to build houses for a living. I'm glad that everything is working out okay for you. I know it takes time to get things right. Keep up the good work Buddy while I try to catch up on the videos while I'm off for the weekend. It's Been awhile since I had the whole complete weekend off. Hope you're having a good weekend buddy.
Enjoy your weekend!
Greetings Andrew, thank you so much for showing everything that happens, good and bad. This is a wonderful learning experience for so many of us.
Thank you for watching
Prayers you get everything in order soon🙏🙏🙏🙏👍....
Mr. Kelley. I commented a while ago, pretty rudely, about you running on and on. I do not take credit, but I have noticed your videos have been more to the point, yet with your same personality. I'm enjoying them a lot more. More importantly, you're making really good progress lately and I'm pretty excited for you! Have always dreamed of building a home, you have been sharing a lot of good knowledge while busting your ass working hard. Keep it up with a sincere thank you.
Thank you
Where’s that safety harness? lol just kidding man. Great video!
I'm getting excited for you too, can't wait to see windows, siding and sheetrock finished. Getting close👍
Watching the video, I noticed your 3/4 gas line is secured with 1 hole straps in the wall. I’m a HVAC contractor in NC and I know here they specify not to secure the gas line inside of the wall cavity. That’s also specified in the trac pipe installation guide. Thought I’d mention it, the CSST pipe inside of the black jacket is meant to be able to move out of the way in case you’re ever hanging a picture or shelf or anything like that in the future and a nail/screw hits the line. If it’s secured then the pipe won’t be able to move slightly to prevent a puncture. If it’s not secured the. It will move slightly out of the way to prevent a picture. I hope the way I’m describing that makes sense but obviously codes in Florida may be different. Keep up the good content!
Another thing we have to do is use hardened strike plates for the gas lines
I'm definitely not familiar with local code for gas lines, that's why I hired a company for this installation. I will say that after foam insulation is sprayed in, the line won't be moving regardless if clamps. But I see what you mean.
@@TKCL very true! I didn’t think of that. Pretty interesting seeing the different codes in different areas.
Getting closer!
Take your time, Don t panic, everything will be fine, take a deep breath and a Break LOL LOL
Hello, I was catching up on your build and I just watched your plumbing video, When my house was built the builders used some called PEX Piping for the hot and cold water plumbing in my house, it was very cool to see and very different from PVC.
Sheetrock nailer aka deadwood. 27 yr drywall experience
Yaay, a new outlet, long time no see:))))
Enjoyed the video and how things are progressing. Wonderful job Andrew 🙂
Thank you for watching
Glad to see you opted for gas in your outdoor kitchen. Good decision. This stage of construction is by far the slowest, so much to do. It will fly once drywall is up
Yes I can't believe all the little things to do!
Lol I can imagine what a nervous time that would be, pressure testing everything. I know the propane tank installer did the installation on the tank but, it seems really dangerous for them to put it almost against the house!
It is nerve racking!
No fails just problem solving
Very true!
The good news is that testing gas lines at a 30 PSI will find leaks not normally indicated at normal operating pressures. of 0.4 PSI. The bad news is you can't test appliance and regulator connections at those pressures or you risk damage. A spray bottle filled with water and a teaspoon of dish soap mixed well together will identify even the tiniest of leaks in a gas line. The key is that the soap has to be diluted. A leaking gas line is a dangerous situation. Make 100% sure it is resolved.
We found it! I'll explain in a video soon.
Thank you for the great video
Thank you
Im excited for you. Cant wait to see what the house looks like when its all done. 🤠
Thank you
At least your finding out before getting all the dry wall in and blow in insulation. Better safe than sorry. I won't be on youtube for a week, but will catch up when I get back. God Bless
That's correct! Take care, God bless
Great video but using that cpvc was probably a bad choice. It becomes very brittle over time especially with hard water.
Never an issue with my last house of 36 years, not one leak or issue with cpvc. It's very common in homes around here.
I like putting up drywall. I just dont like all the sanding you have to do after taping & mudding the seams etc lol.
Me either!
To each their own, but this is why I'm afraid to build my home with gas lines. I understand you found a leak in the begin process and working to address the issue. But what would happen 5-10-15 years down the road when fittings/lines begin to wear or loosen... I'm naturally paranoid with anxiety lol, I would freak myself out everyday wondering if the gas lines are still stable. I've seen home explosions from gas lines and it terrifies me.
There's risk in everything! Do you lay awake all night worried that a couple thousand feet of electrical lines in your walls, ceilings, basements ect could ignite a fire at anytime? What about all the unseen plumbing in the ceiling and walls that could be leaking and causing significant damage. Point is to double and triple check these things to provide as safe of an install as possible. They also make propane detectors for extra piece of mind. Thanks for watching
Doing great. I sub "Good simple living" their concrete sideing that is prefinished and looks like cut logs is really cool. I bet it is expensive though. It also takes 2 to install it as weight is a lot more than hardy board.
Thank you for watching, I started siding today.... Video out soon.
Those windows protected by such deep porches don’t need the sloped sills. Only windows on an exposed face of the house. If your window guys hav taken measurements then they now need to come back and take measurements again since the window sizes have changed.
I'm installing the bottom windows and have a half an inch play. I still have plenty of room with that tiny adjustment.
Thanks!
Thank you
Man you been bringing good content.. keep them coming
Thank you for watching
Andrew is the 2x roof purlin bolted or screwed to the black trusses?
Purlins are screwed in with 4 screws at each location.
I live next door in Leon county. Would love to know the process of getting this off the ground with permitting, acceptable truss material etc.
Email me at kelleyscountry@gmail.com. I'll respond as soon as I can. I can tell you that your county is far stricter than mine and a lot of what I'll tell you probably won't apply there. A good friend of mine is a building contractor in Leon and I'm always amazed by the permitting and craziness there. Good luck!
@@TKCL well getting out of Leon is a goal of mine. Lol. A timber frame barn with those trusses is a game changer in price. J-CO is a nice place.
Water pressure test. Why not put hose on washer hot open valve until you see water flow… then close hot valve put on gauge then open hot again that way no air in lines
Never mind … paused video before you purged air … thought you were going to air before water
Good job keep the good work up god bless.
Thank you for watching, God bless
? what about vertical sheet rock nailers in that space ?
I'm going to ask my drywall installer about that, but it's no different than not having horizontal ones in the walls. That Gap up top is actually tighter than walls with 16 in on Center studs.
I know you are really particular about sealing your house up, have you seen the other videos on UA-cam about Aeroseal? I feel that is something that you would do if you haven’t thought about it yet.
I have seen it, I think I should be good with all the extra sealing I'm doing.
@@TKCL "FLEX SEAL" it....lol.
Be careful with the spray foam. NO OIL BASE PRODUCTS should come in contacted with the CPVC
Never heard that before, I'll look into it.
I am surprised you did not run pex????
I would never run that crap pipe in any project
@@steveriggs6524 you referring to pex or cpvc?
@@steveriggs6524 why?
Cvpc complete garbage
Sorry CPVC
I didn't do it 🤦🏽♂️ I promise I didn't mess with y'all gas lines....
Lol
Defund Inspection Department!
I would not call for inspection with a leaking line, must fix that first.
Thanks!
Very much appreciated! Thank you
