    That windshield crack looks like an object impacted it not a stress fracture. No wonder warranty claim was denied

      It's possible that something hit the windshield but I didn't see anything. I had cars for more than 2 decades now including BMWs and usually it will be a small dent on the windshield that you can repair. Seeing something like this without a visible impact was shocking to me.

    Wow, it’s as if the angels led me to your video on the sunroof rattling, because just *yesterday* while driving at low speed on the freeway the sunroof of my 2023 BMW X3 M40i started to rattle, a sound it had never done before. At first I had no idea where the sound was coming from. My vehicle just crossed over 10,000 miles. The rattling suddenly stopped but I fear it will return. Did they ever figure out the problem with yours and fix it?

    • @100miledrive

      thanks for your comment. I dug up on this more. Can't believe it by yes looks like it is by design:
      Left and right side mirror are not symmetrical.
      LHD car's right side mirror has more inward angle than left side.
      Vice versa for RHD.
      It is funny that only few people at BMW dealership know about all the details about their cars.
      I asked about mirror caps when I took my car for oil change and they said I would need to bring it back in to check that out. I was convinced it was an issue, so didn't even investigate it.
      Similarly I remember I asked about the front bumper which has a left lower plate missing compare to the right side. Both plates are present on X3 30i. I suspected that was for extra cooling but BMW dealership had to look up the diagram of the car to confirm on that.

    Thanks for update. I bought my wife same car in end of September 23. Took a bit to learn how to use it, but love the 6 cylinder. There should be videos out there on how to reset the folding mirrors . I hate run flats but will wait until I get some miles out of them before switching tires to Michelin. Enjoy your ride!

    • @100miledrive
      @100miledrive  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for your feedback. Yes this 6 cylinder engine is very joyful. Highly recommend replacing run-flats. I made a whole video just on my experience before and after replacing run-flats. If you bought the car and planning to keep it then, maybe you can switch out in a bit, but if it's a lease you can do it now, so that you can put the other tires back before the lease end. Run-flats also can wear much faster than regular tires. Anyway I hope your wife enjoys the car.

    Many modern cars use special glass for the windscreen. It is both acoustic glass and a type of glass that is suitable for the windscreen sensors. It is potentially more problematic than that used in the good old days. Wise to pay extra for windscreen cover in the insurance policy. Mine costs $75 a year for a CX5.

    • @100miledrive
      @100miledrive  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the suggestion. Someone also suggested here to try something called shatterX. It's like a liquid glass. It's only $35 and should help strengthen the glass. Will be trying that.

    Great video! I do believe the issues you're having with the sunroof are a result of the torque factor with your impressive engine. I think the pillars should be enhanced over the 30i, just like when companies put torque bars around the engine, especially when you said it's more prominent at low torque speeds. Again, that's just my perception, and that would not stop me from purchasing a 40i as my next vehicle.
    I have the s30i; I love it as an everyday driver here in Phoenix. But, as my appreciation for the X3 has grown in the last four months of ownership, I now crave that excellent engine that you have in your “Rocket!” Yes, four months into my ownership, and I have already picked out my next BMW engine! You get some influential credit for that!
    Have a great day, friend!

      Thanks for the feedback and comment. As for the sunroof rattle I found comments on forums where people are having issues with rattles across different models, not just X3, so not sure if it's design flaw or simply the car I have has this issue. It was there from day 1 I believe.
      As for the X3 M40i vs X3 30i - looks like you are a car enthusiast since you are exploring B58 engine. I would suggest to wait for 2025 model to be announced as X3 M50. They might even bump up the power on it since the outgoing model has been around since 2018 and they might improve driving dynamics further. Yes X3 M40i is an exciting car even at low speeds to hear this engine growl.
