- In 1901 Robert Jenks acquired land in Louisiana and established the Tremont Lumber Company and built a saw mill at Tremont, LA to process the timber on the land. The Tremont and Gulf Railway purchased its one and only "Mikado" locomotive from the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1917. It was assigned road number 30.
Quite a beautiful steam locomotive, I have saw it at the Texas State Railroad back in July 3rd 2020.
Yes it is!
@@aaronmccreight_trains-tractor I have a question, is #30’s tender, a Vanderbilt Tender?
@@nathancorcoran5347 Yes it is a Vanderbilt tender.
@@aaronmccreight_trains-tractor Ok. Good.
It just me or does that whistle give anyone else the chills
She really got movin in some of those shots! Awesome!!
Very great shot of the 2 locos next to each other.
Thank you!
They should keep that whistle on. It's sounds amazing
I was told once they fix a bearing that went out on 28, that 28 and 30 will be double heading a freight charter.
Such a beautiful locomotive; thanks for sharing
Yes sir thanks for watching!
Awesome T&P Hancock 3 Chime Whistle from Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 #610 Steam Locomotive.
Which whistle do you mean? In the first half of the video at least, they have a normal flattop Hancock. At some point they swap it out for what they claim is #610's original whistle, which is something that Texas & Pacific made for the engine. Look for the video on their Facebook page talking about running it on one of the engines for a short time. It's also a steptop whistle, but sound nothing like the steptop Hancocks such as were used on Union Pacific's "Big Three."
We used an ATSF 6 Chime for the first half of Sunday, then we swapped it out for a NP Challenger's 3 chime hancock, that stayed on until mid-day Monday when it was swapped for T&P 610's whistle.
@@KLTrainz It's nice to see some variety on the engines. Previous management(s) really didn't have much interest in such things for much of their tenure. I'm hoping to get a replica whistle I'm owed done and pay the deposit so I can hear it on one of the engines (if that's still possible). It would be quite appropriate too, seeing as Baldwin 3 chimes were often used on logging engines.
14:58 best part
The same locomotive used for the train finale of my favorite movie, How the West Was Won
Hated that I wasn't able to go. But I plan to be there on the Memorial Day event. Excellent footage!
Thank you!
Man that looks so much fun, I regret not going
It was a lot of fun.
Nice work.
Thank you!
I think 30 was the only steam locomotive operational on the Texas state railroad in 2019
also was 30 wearing T&P 610's whistle???????????
Dude that whistle is amazing? What type of whistle?
The one at the beginning of the video is an Illinois Central 3 Chime "steamboat" whistle. You can tell by the growly, but deep, nature of the whistle. The whistle in the later half is actually the whistle off of Texas & Pacific #610.
Is that Texas and Pacific 610's whistle??
Yes they put on for the return trip back to Palestine.
@@aaronmccreight_trains-tractor cool
Sweet!
Did they change the whistle?
Yes sir!
We had 3 whistles on it through the 2 day charter
35:26 why so much squeak
KIller video!
Thank you!
two questions: who paid for this charter... and when is the next one?
Lerro Productions sponsored the charter....not sure when the next will be.
