After picking up 2 pairs of the Deviate Nitro 2 just so good, I am looking at an easy/steady like someone has already mentioned to take over from the NB More V3 and my Novablast 2’s but again with the Puma outsoles these are an all year round shoe unlike a lot of others which are abysmal in the wet. This is now part of my shoe buying process, how good is the grip in the wet and Puma just seem to keep improving while other companies just seem to ignore it completely. That’s a definite 👍 to Puma, great review Alex
Another comprehensive review. Puma is moving up in the running world. That's encouraging for a Boston company that competes with the other Boston companies; i.e., NB, Reebok, Saucony, Topo, etc. Thanks, Alex.
AGREED. I just picked this up today, tried them on next to the Mach x, these felt just as good at slow and fast paced, but are 50$ less in Canada. Honestly, this tpee nitro material is what I wish hoka would use in the Clifton, or new balance in the 1080. These are the perfect replacement for my somewhat bottomed out and unstable rebel v2, a thicker sturdier all terrain rebel if you will.
Puma is in the right direction without a doubt. you can compare them to the Triumph 21 coming soon, the update on the upper seems similar to the Magnify 2.
Not sure I will get the Triumph 21 but for sure in the same ballpark (although pricewise the Puma is more interesting). The Triumph 20 felt a little too flat in the forefoot for me last year whereas this Puma rolls nicely. Hope this helps
I had no major stability problems with a Gel-Nimbus before until the 25th version . Guardrails is what it needed to really work well to me that overpronate a bit on my left foot. Good to know that this Puma has side walls like a More V4 or a SolarBoost 5 to really give good stability, no matter how high is the middlesole stack height.
I would love to hear from you if you ever try this shoe, because I'm truly convinced it's a max cushion soft shoe that could work for mild to moderate pronators. Thanks for your comment
@althurules not unstable for say, even when I overpronate . But my left heel slides a bit some times in the insole if I'm running in an unstable terrain. After so many runs ,I ended loving my Gel-Nimbus 25, but I can't run too fast with it because the slides goes up ... anyways it is a shoe to run slow and it is the best on the market in that regard of maximum plushiness. It is just not as versatile as leys say as a : SolarGlide, Wave Sky, or a Triumph.
@@thurules miracewarrior is right in many ways. I do have nimbus 24 and 25. But 25 is not as stable as the 24. It’s stack height and plushness make it little unstable on uneven surfaces. But for my surprises even with great stack height than this. The superblast is more stable than nimbus 25 on uneven surfaces. Becoz it has the perfect blend of plushness and responsiveness. If i have to choose one shoe which is highly cushioned stable and responsive. It has to be superblast. Even though it’s expensive. But hands down the most versatile and best daily trainer.
Not as plush but nicer roll in the forefoot. The price difference is also considerable in the EU (€30) which makes the Puma a better overall choice in my opinion.
I haven't tested the Velocity 2 so I can't address this one. Based on the fact sheet the Magnify has more stack and a lightly softer version of Nitro foam so this should provide with a bouncier ride. Hope this helps
Thanks for your review. Not sure I would call this a daily trainer. I think this is their neutral long run and recovery shoe. It's pretty heavy for a daily trainer, but you could use it for that. Deviate 2 or Velocity 2 would be their daily trainer.
Like the color 😅 I don't think it's a daily trainer. It's a long run shoe, so I think the weight is fine. July intro? I heard June in the EU. Can you please confirm with Puma?
I always have two complete rotations (very fortunate for a non shoe reviewer) , but I don't drink and we moved to one car when I started to work from home so I am fortunate in these harder times that I am able to do this (I offset my guilt by giving most of my post 300k shoes to friends / family / homeless charities ) anyway .. what I am trying to say , one of my rotations is now entirly Puma (the other is made up from various manufactures ), I think they provide the best cost/performance balance on the market currently. This will replace the foreverun when that shoe moved on to it's second life.
Thanks for the insightful comment, John. I really enjoy learning more about the community in general, and even more so about subscribers like yourself who are showing their continued support video after video. Can't argue with your comment, Puma is one of the exciting companies at the moment. Thanks for your comment
Would you say these are just as stable as the forever run? I know it's not a neutral stable shoe but it has a much wider base compared to the foreever run.
TPE foam doesn't really say much, as far as I know pretty much all running shoe foams are thermoplastic elastomers, incl. EVA and PEBA. I think regular Nitro is an EVA that is being foamed with Nitrogen as a blowing agent, while Nitro elite is a PEBA.
How does the upper and midsole compare to the Velocity V2? Does it soak up moisture like the velocity v2? That's my biggest problem with that shoe, upper is like a sponge and the foam feels too soft, no bounce.
The upper is on the thicker side and may soak up moisture especially in the heel. It's getting hotter here in Europe so I will test the shoe in warmer conditions and report.
Sounds promising. Though I'm always a bit wary of max cushion shoes as they're often a bit heavy and clunky. My most used shoes recently have veen the Pegasus 39 and the Turbo Next Nature...
Sounds like you're indeed exploring the more "direct" and flat forefoot type of shoes. Not a bad thing (and maybe even a better one long term when it comes to feet strength). But this is a nice offering indeed.
Great content as usual, really informative. I would like to ask between puma magnify nitro 2 and puma forever run, how this both stack up, and which would you reccomend, thank you
It comes down to personal preferences but for me *as a daily trainer* this is ok. I wouldn't consider racing shoes (or even tempo shoes) with that weight for sure.

I know this feeling because the Deviate 2 is one of my favorite shoes out there. Go for this one, no disappointment possible ;-)

Thanks for your comment, Michael. However if I may, Puma is still based in Germany (but yes indeed has its North America HQ in Boston) ;-)

Puma are rocking it lately. I have lots of shoes and Puma is fast becoming my favourite brand
Yes!! Thanks for your comment
Midsole is soft? Hard to believe. In the store felt stiff!
It needs around 20 kilometres of break in time

How does this compare to the ForeverRun? I know that is more of a stability/guidance shoe but I'm thinking both are in the similar vein?
This is definitely on my shortlist. I really liked the More v3, but the v4 is a little too mushy for me. The Magnify 2 looks like a good balance.
Less clunky than the More for sure! I would pick this one over the More. Thanks for your comment
@@AlexFilitti I agree More v4 is mushy and clunky
I think I will replace a brooks glycerin 20 with this when it makes it to USA , thank you for the review .
You're welcome, thanks a lot for your comment
I can’t wait to buy this new iteration
Let's gooo! Please share your feedback with us once you have it ;-)
how does it compare with the foreverun nitro since both are almost max cushion from puma
How does this compare with the saucony triumph line?
Not as plush but nicer roll in the forefoot. The price difference is also considerable in the EU (€30) which makes the Puma a better overall choice in my opinion.
.. would love a versus with the Saucony Triumph 21
I'll look into it ;-) Thanks for your comment
🙏
Great colorway! 🎉
Just got the deviate 2 and love them how does the foam in this iteration of the magnify compare ?
Very similar! I love the Deviate 2 as well ;)
How does it compare to the Tempus?
Sorry but I don't know, haven't tried the Tempus. That being said this one does not have any stability features like the Tempus does.
How is the Magnify 2 compare to Velocity Nitro 2 on cushioning and bounce?
I haven't tested the Velocity 2 so I can't address this one. Based on the fact sheet the Magnify has more stack and a lightly softer version of Nitro foam so this should provide with a bouncier ride. Hope this helps

Someone said the toe box is slightly wider than the Deviate Nitro 2.
Do you agree?
Agreed!
@@AlexFilitti Cheers!
Would love to see someone compare this to the Max Road 6.
Definitely agree
would love to see a comparison of this vs the triumph 21
Magnify 1 vs Magnify 2 which is softer and more responsive?
Magnify 2
TPE foam doesn't really say much, as far as I know pretty much all running shoe foams are thermoplastic elastomers, incl. EVA and PEBA. I think regular Nitro is an EVA that is being foamed with Nitrogen as a blowing agent, while Nitro elite is a PEBA.
Good point and sorry for the confusion. TPE is indeed generic while Nitro (and other foams) is Nitrogen infused TPE-E. Hope this makes sense
How is this compared to triumph? Looking to pick up a slow running shoe for the marathon training. Nimbus doesn’t work for me 😢
How does the upper and midsole compare to the Velocity V2? Does it soak up moisture like the velocity v2? That's my biggest problem with that shoe, upper is like a sponge and the foam feels too soft, no bounce.
The upper is on the thicker side and may soak up moisture especially in the heel. It's getting hotter here in Europe so I will test the shoe in warmer conditions and report.
@@AlexFilitti thanks
I've got the Magnify 1, just use it as a normal walking shoe for rest days. I really like it.
Why using only for walking?
@@thurules had problems with my feet, plus I've got five other pairs of running shoes! 😂
Looks like a winner 🥇 might replace my glideride 3
Nice idea and yes they're in that same ballpark ;) Hope you are well
@@AlexFilitti 🙏 doin good, still on my running journey 🏃🏻♂️ 😁 hope you are good too!
Does the Puma Magnify Nitro 2 have a carbon fibre plate ?
No
If I’m a neutral runner (with a slight pronation) looking for a daily trainer, would you recommend this or the forever run nitro?
Mild pronators can go for the two options, this one is a little more fun I would say.
Which midsole softer, Nimbus 25 or Magnify 2?
Nimbus
@@AlexFilitti so which one is your choice? And why?

How is pegasus 39 midsole performance?
Glad to hear that they have improved this a lot on the first version. Definitely on my buy list the next time Puma have a sale.
Thanks for your comment, Andy

So would you go for this or the forever run??
Good question. This is more fun but the Foreverrun is a better shoe overall in my opinion
Interesting. Will see how it fares vs NB More V4
Slightly softer, feels less clunky and rolls more in the forefoot. Hope that makes sense.
@@AlexFilitti I was thinking more v4 is softer, as it has lower score on durometer for the midsole
Terrible color 🙄
Can't argue with that, not the sexiest colorway out there.
Too heavy
It comes down to personal preferences but for me *as a daily trainer* this is ok. I wouldn't consider racing shoes (or even tempo shoes) with that weight for sure.
Hey Alex, never tried some Puma's, it seems that the sizing is a bit different? if i follow the sizing guides on websites ...🤨👋👋😀🟦⚪🟥
