It’s not easy in the rust belt 😂 this is a pretty rusty 89 Dodge Dakota I have here. Trying to remove the nut on the top stud and it’s seized. I can’t hold the shock tight enough with locking pliers to shear the stud off. And in the process of removing the two bolts in the bottom, one sheared off. This poor truck it’s just a mess. It’s been in the family since brand new but it’s just worn out and beat up. I want to say it’s still worth something, but it’s been in 2 accidents. The worst one being in the winter last year. In a 7 car pile up. I’m just tired of it. 😂
Good video, where it takes a scary turn from simple is when that top bolt, and the piston rod spin, or the nut rust welds to the bushing washer. Then your stuck trying to get leverage with pipe wrench, locking pliers, or channel locks to free the top mounting. Seen a video where the guy had to draw a few beads with his welder on the piston rod so he could get grip. It's terrible engineering, similar to Chevy s10.
@@R3VIVALGT quick question- did you jack up the truck first then loosen both top and bottom nuts or did you loosen one of them before jacking it up. The reason I ask is because I have been seeing people do it both ways on forums?
my brother. You have saved so many people so much time and energy. You're awesome.
You answered the only question I had on the subject without me having to buy a manual. thanks a lot

Did the top end bolt spin? My recently bought AWESOME beater looks to be factory! 1990 3.9 long bed.
