My gf doesn't like metal and is always so worried when I go in pits. I honestly, rarely feel safer than when I'm at a metal gig and with my people. We take care of each so much. You fall in a pit and often are being caught before you've even touched the floor
Yeah, sometimes if you fall there's often multiple people stop to get you up. Out of hundreds of pits I think I've only got hurt once and it wasn't serious. Just a sore ear haha

A lot of metal has never really done it for me. Its like trying food and wanting to like it but can't. I can listen to some. BUT I can appreciate how freaking talented a lot of those guys are. The musicianship amazes me. I'll listen to it and go holy hell! How the hell did they do that?!

The singer, Corey Taylor, is also in a second band called Stone Sour. They're more of a hard rock band, rather than metal. You will be absolutely amazed at how great his singing voice is. I would recommend their songs "Bother" and "Through Glass."

It's uh, actually that's a thing, it's called Nu-Metal, and this song is its best form..
"nu-metal" incorporates faster singing and more legible words into there songs, part of the reason that the term "metal rap" is better to use is because lots of bands are put into the "nu-metal" category even though they shouldn't be. just my 2-cents
The guys of Slipknot actually wore masks because they didn’t want people to listen because of how they looked. They have also said that the masks are like a alternate personality, that’s why they act so crazy up on stage. As Corey Taylor (the lead man) has said, “that’s not me up there, it’s the mask”
“Duality” , “Sulfur”, “Dead memories” , “before I forget” would all be great songs to start discovering them, before going into the more hardcore stuff they do

I highly recommend the song Circle. It is Slipknot's most underrated song and shows their incredible ability to go outside their comfort zone. A great juxtaposition to their overall chaotic music.

If you truly want to see the incredible range of Corey Taylor try reacting to his live in London version of Snuff. Probably one of their best and most impactful songs
Im not sure if it is the same video you mentioned, but the one of him breaking down crying in the middle of it, after Paul passed, rips my heart out. But yes it is a beautiful and lyrically genius song.

Oh man "Spit It Out" was the first song of there's I ever heard, I would recommend Duality next from them it's another top song of there.
I Normally don't watch reaction channels but these two older ladies are awesome and I can appreciate the old generation listening to new stuff and giving there reaction, unlike most reaction channel with a bunch of lazy kids who rather leech off others content instead of creating there own.

My mom passed away when I was 16 and she LOVED the Beatles... I’m 35 now and she would be about their age... not sure what I’m feeling right now but this was an amazing video.
I wish people would stop recommending live versions of songs Ike spit it out or heretic anthem or people = shit first. people should see the actual studio version first due to how much the masks messed up most of Corey's live vocals on these intense and high distortion songs. To really get the song in its full impact hearing it studio first then seeing the video of the live shows is way better

There are tons of copyright issues that get avoided by using live footage. That’s why most of these pages use the concert videos.
I get where you're coming from, but their reaction to specifically the live versions is also really interesting. There is nothing in the world like a metal concert, and watching these lovely ladies experience that firsthand (or rather, as close to firsthand as you can get on UA-cam) is still very awesome.

They went with the masks so people would focus on the music instead of anything else or only listening because of how cute they thought the band members were to decide whether to listen or not.
isnt that plan so counter productive in hindsight? basically one of the main things people cared about in the beginning was the masks. I think it was more as a differentiator though in the beginning.
this is the most positive , just awesome thing ive seen in a while...my second TRG video. i love it, you ladies are the best! i loved the look of anticipation for the Jump the f**k up part... ive been able to see Slipknot once and being there for that part of spit it out live is unexplainable but as crazy as it looks.

If you are into music, and study metal you will find the use of a lot of complex methods. Key changes, using a variety of scales, use of arpeggios, unusual time signatures and a wide variety of tunings. You can find stuff from all types of music styles including baroque, classical, jazz, punk and blues. Many of the lyrics are much deeper than most people think.
It is way more than just being fast and loud.
I agree, I’ve always said that metal singers and opera singers have the most in common when it comes to difficulty and metal musicians and classical musicians have the most in common for the same reasons. I’m not trying to take anything away from any other genre or say that other’s aren’t as talented. But the techniques utilized by both are very technical and take years of practice and devotion to master.
