I know I've said it before, but I love Kirstie's voice in it's lower range. I'm voting for Gold next. It's one of their live video recordings. So intricate and precise.
Should watch the video of Kiiara 'singing' it in the studio first, to see how she had to do it - then watch Mitch just go to it.

This is one of my fav PTX songs. Their cover of “say something” is older (with avi) but has a similar feel, celloboxing and Kirstie leading.
I agree that "Say Something" has the same raw, soul-wrenching emotionality that this one carries. I get so lost when I'm listening to these groups that I forget when I see the cello, that the DRUMS are vocal and not actually instruments also. LOL.

What a beautiful performance. The tone that Kevin achieved on his cello shows just how professionally trained he is. The tone was just amazing. Then, the vocals by both Scott and Kirstie were so nice and I loved how Scott held back during the duet portion so that Kirstie's voice held sway. Great analysis, as always.
It's a marvelous version, and I like the black & white with gold, very solemn. It is quite a serious story, A Star Is Born. As usual, each person gets to shine. Thank you.
I think it's partly because of their harmonies it sounds fuller and with more emotions ( and therefore mostly more liked than the original ) .
A few songs with the cello and the same vibe are "Perfect "and "Say Something"

I love the choices they make with the cello. They bring it in in exactly when it adds just the right touch. Now that we have Scott on piano with Kevin’s cello. Maybe we’ll see more of that going forward. Have you seen that video. It’s Thank You from the new Christmas album. Since it’s a Scott original I’m guessing it will also be on their originals album this winter. I’m so happy they still do covers but their originals are amazing too. Thanks for the reaction ☮️💟😷🎄

This is a beautiful rendition. I suspect you will enjoy their version of Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” as well. I rank it among the best of their performances. Maybe you could give it a try?

Great reaction to this song. I enjoy all your reactions, and I'd love to see your reaction to a collaboration PTX did with Todrick Hall, titled "The Wizard of Aaahs". Kirstie really shines in this one, but it's a wonderful production, one which I'd certainly line up to see if they made it a movie!

I have never heard this song before and it was wonderful! What a wonderful experience it was. Kirstie's voice is so good. She is amazing and my favourite member. Mitch was also wonderful in this song, but everyone was. Kevin is the very best beatboxer ever. I love your reactions and how you are into the music totally. I am so glad that Fable (Fil) sent me to your channel. I wish so much that you would review Say Something. I know the original is great, but have a listen to PTX's version. It was well done, this is a tough song for anyone else to do because in the movie this song is so emotionally connecting. PTX did a great job of adding their own nuances, which they always seem to do. I love seeing Beyonce..(Kevin's Cello)

Scott's buttons and zips on his jacket were gold - they always put in such attention to detail...apparently the poster for the movie was in black/grey with gold highlights.
Suffi....As I commented earlier, I did not know this song but you intrigued my interest and I had to see the Lady Gaga video of this with Bradley Cooper. That is fantastic and I have play that over and over again. I love it, but no matter, you inspired me to look for it and to listen to this video time and time again. Prior to seeing Lady Gaga in her video, I had never heard her before. II know none of her songs...now I will and I am interested to hear more....I am discovering music in my 70's and its great....heard my first reaction December 2020!
I love this song! PTX definitely upgraded it with the cello. You would like the cover they did of Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. Lindsay Sterling guest plays in it with Kevin.
Great reaction Suffi, thank you - Kevin's gold accent is the zip on his jacket - I didn't notice until another reactor pointed it out. I love this song too, both the movie version and PTX's cover. Have you tried any of Kevin's solo stuff (found under KO'vers) particularly Down (Marian Hill) and Harry Styles Sign of the Times. I'll be sat here, waiting for the reactions :)

Hey Suffi 👋! I agree with Leigh, you should react to Gold next, it’s another amazing one 🥰. There’s another acapella version of Shallow you need to react to by the Acapop! Kids. A!K were put together by Scott Hoying, along with PTX’s producer/arranger Ben Bram and also Shams Ahmed. I also love Acapop! Kids version of Into The Unknown. And Bohemian Rhapsody/Somebody To Love. And Fix You. And the live version of their Kelly Clarkson Medley, which they sang live on the Kelly Clarkson Show. And basically all their other songs. Basically, you’ll love them!

This was the perfect study break! This is one of my favorites of their's. I'm glad you liked it too! You didn't have a question in this one, so I'll ask you one: Have you read the book Moment of Lift by Melinda Gates? It's not a very thought provoking question, but we're reading it in one of my classes so it's on my mind lol. 10/10 recommend.

I like your reactions well. It seems you like a capella. In addition to Pentatonix, there is actually another great a cappella band: Home Free. It would be nice if you could do something with them. I think you would like "In the blood", "Mayday" or "The end of the road".
Check out Acapop Kids! They are a kids' a cappella group started by Scott from Pentatonix. They also do their a cappella version of "Shallow". There are around 30 kids in the group aged 8-15 who take turns being in the 15 or so UA-cam videos they have released.
I read that the black & white with touches of gold metal was inspired by the movie's promotion posters.
Even though this is from the Lady Gaga version of a Star is Born Pentatonix version of this song reminds me of the Judy Garland version. Judy seemed to be waiting for it all to go horribly wrong any minute. To me it was a much sadder movie.

Good reaction...and it's fair to say what you liked about the movie version. Me...I really liked this version even more than the movie mostly because they all contributed to the song (even Cello was wonderful, and Kirstie was really beautiful in this arrangement), but we all have our own opinions and I respect yours.

They have an entire album of originals. Cracked is one of my favorites because I love the soul in Scott's voice! You should check it out.
They have an album of originals coming out around February-ish, so I've heard. They have an older one of all originals, too, but I forget what it's called.
I second that they had an entire album of originals, including Can't Sleep Love and Sing (which the NFL used as it's Thursday Night Football theme song for an entire season. They've been putting out a second round of new songs here and there recently. Check it out!
Please tell me why so many of you guys, reactors, underplay Kirstin's role. She gets a slight nod then you immediately go to Mitch. I am really asking, not trying to bust any balls. i love Mitch and think his voice is amazing but Kirstin's is too. I listen to all kinds of channels and it happens over and over. Am I missing something about her voice?
