They won a grammy for this, and this was filmed in a closet at AVI and KEVINS apartment. the whole thing cost them 400.00 dollars. Did you notice how irritated Avi's eyes are,they are all red, they say the contacts really botherd his eyes, also thats why kevin is wearing the glasses,he could not wear them either. love your reactions
$400 would about pay for the makeup, hair, and contacts, but I hope FifGen eventually got paid for their world-class video and audio editing....
The blue color was tribute to Daft Punk, the purple was a staple color of theirs (DP) also! This group is so amazing... Did you catch that they sang three songs at the same time in the last part. You have to be a genius to make it all sound so cohesive.

This was their 1st Grammy they won. So.... Grammy worthy..... yeah!
They edited it on Avi's Mac, I'm not sure who did it, but I'm sure they couldn't afford to pay anyone.
It was filmed on Avi's and Kevin's kitchen and closet, on a 400 dollars budget, at least half of it on contacts, and got them their first Grammy.
This was just after they won the Sing Off, they moved to LA, left college,(Kevin was going to be a doctor!!!) and the record label dropped them, so they did it themselves.
They were super young!! On the sing of they were between 19 and 21, this video is right after.
Avi really does sound effects, in fact he was hired to do that for Blade 2049 ❤️
Can you react to Love Again? It's an original, but follows the same style from the Daft Punk.
I absolutely love it, and I don't even like this kind of music, they are just too good.

You should also react to "Love Again" by Pentatonix. That one is in the same lane as this one but musically I think its done better. This one the video was better, I mean I love this one and the reaction was great but I think you would be more blown away by the music of Love again and I think it might be an original to them. Love the reaction videos by the why especially the Pentatonix ones.

The eyes were contacts. Kevin couldn’t wear them so he wore the visor. Everything is more enjoyable when done by ptx. Scott is white blond in their cover of “say something” which features Kirstie with the lead vocal and kevin on the cello and their collab with Todrick Hall, the wizard of ahhs is pretty awesome. Can’t remember if you have done those yet.

He doesn’t DO anything for PTX anymore. He left in 2017.

The driving force to this song, in my opinion, is Avi's amazing bass line. Unreal!
I agree that the blonde/white suits Scott - and it's actually strange to see him change his colour/style...whereas we're so used to Mitch and Kirstie being different in just about every video !.. I remember on one of the Superfruit videos when Scott was telling Mitch he was thinking about going blonde and Mitch said he should totally do it (not for this video - he coloured it once blonde really ) It was blonde during the Say Something video...but maybe just a shade too white. He pulled it off though - haven't seen him colour it since, maybe some highlights here and there but that's it.... Mitch on the other hand... white/purple/green/dk blue/ aqua/bald/shaved/half shaved/mullet... we've been everywhere haha
Wizard of Ahhh's with Pentatonix. Great and really different, an early presentation.
You need to check out their singoff run and see their beginings. This is shortly after they won the sing off and basically got dropped from their label. This is a medley of 6 daft punk songs. Yes they deservingly won the Grammy for this. Great reactions.
It's actually seven songs in this mashup; listen to Kirstin while Avi is singing "Television Rules the Nation", and again during the breakdown at the end, where she slips in a few instances of "Around the World".
Just a few suggestions for future reactions would be their covers of “Shallow” or “Havana” or “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. The last one has them all singing, no beats from Kevin. Also check out Toddrick Hall’s The Wizard of Ahhhs featuring Pentatonix for just a fun but ingenious video. If you want a couple of Pentatonix originals you can check out “Run to You” (again all 5 singing, no beats) or “Be My Eyes”. Enjoy, and keep reacting!
No one else should have recorded this song. They are perfect!!
That next to last segment that had that crescendo you really liked was actually two different Daft Punk songs at the same time.
Mitch is singing the "Music's got me feeling so free" from "One More Time" and the rest are singing "We've come too far" from "Get Lucky".
The whole composition is full of those kind of genius overlays and transitions.
They all lend their voices and noises where needed.
Re: noticing Avi doing some sound effects. Yes quite a bit actually. The ICCA had to change their award from beatboxing to rythmn section when Avi was competing with another a cappella group prior to Pentatonix (I am not sure if it was Fermata or Singcopation he was in both) to award it to him for what he does. It was also helpful when Kevin needed to breath occasionally 🙂
The first 3 short clips are demonstrations they did for seminars to other a cappella groups etc.
The last is an interview where Avi demonstrates overtone singing and includes radio station microphone only performances of 3 songs by them if you want to see and compare with videos. This is primarily conducted in English but the station is in the Netherlands.

Every time I hear this I think of the interview on Dutch radio, both when they’re demonstrating how they put a song together and Avi demonstrating how he does overtone singing. It’s such a fun interview.

Musically, Avi is doing "circular breathing" to make that swooshing sound. Basically he is not taking an actual breath for that whole time. It is one continual breath. Hope this makes sense. He is a very talented musician and can do amazing things with his voice, not just low singing. There are videos of Avi doing overtones too. He sings one note and can manipulate the overtones with the shape his mouth to make songs. Love you and your channel!! From Minneapolis

Love Again is a must.... released in 2014, the same year as Daft Punk for which they got their 1st Grammy, Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy for which they got the 2nd Grammy, Radioactive with Lindsey Stirling, Imagine, Can't Hold Us, The Sound Of Silence, Aha (Official video) and Aha live at Star Vista (Singapore).
Their first Grammy winner, it's not hard to see why. Love the way it's all put together and persistently driving beatboxing, for which both Kevin and Avi deserve great credit. A winner all the way!

Avi is doing overtone whistle singing-particularly during Kirstie’s solo. He’s a basso profundo (with a F# contra bass 4th ledger-line bass clef). This was recorded for audio in Avi and Kevin’s closet and the video was filmed in their kitchen, won Grammy $400
$400 is just supplies not the total cost of Fifgen doing the video production.

Daft Punk was the group who did all the songs in this Medley. Now at the time(2011-2014) there was a show called Defiance. I thought that PTX should be given a guess spot on the show singing Radioactive, which was the theme song of Defiance. And there were character types they each would have been great to play.
They made this all by themselves and they won their first Grammy for it.
avi did the editied of the video and special effects and sound on his mac laptop. There were contacts bought at the local walmart type place. One kitchen , one closet.one mac and about $400 = first grammy

Apparently this was supposed to have been shot in a studio somewhere in L.A.,, but that fell through at the least minute, hence why it ended up being shot in the kitchen of the apartment Avi & Kevin were sharing at the time, and the audio done in one of their closets. They'd been dropped by the record label shortly after The Sing Off, and therefore had to take care of the video on their own, spending just $400 to do it. The eyes, of course, are contacts. Kevin's eyes wouldn't tolerate them and got inflamed so he came up with another option. No, I think Scott looks better as a blond. Yeah, Avi does a lot of the sound effects. Even in the Michael Jackson mash you can watch him do a lot of the sounds, especially the bass guitar sounds.

I liked the look of this video, and yes the albino bright blue-eyed alien thing is a good look for Scott. But I like the way they keep changing up their style and appearance on every video. Especially Kirsty and Mitch you always looking forward to see what style they're at on now
It is contacts, kevin couldn't wear tgem so he came up with the glasses. Avi had a really hard time with them irritating his eyes really bad but he stuck it out. This is one if my favirutes. Great reactiin!😊❤️

Hello again! I'm glad you enjoyed this one! However, if you thought the outfits and vibes were wild in this one you should watch their Love Again video. Scott's make up is my fav in that one.
As for recommendations, I would say: Gold, Ariana Grande Medley, Shallow, or maybe some of their lives performances! Someone on here recommended Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, I think you'd really like that one cause it's no lyrics just music.
Also! You are absolutely right about Avi and Mitch getting into it. Avi usually gets intense into the music, and you can see Mitch just vibing unless he gets into a character.

They got a grammy for that too. Which was written by Tchaikovsky in 1890s, a classical Christmas piece and choreographed for the Broche Ballet, (Nutcracker) All instruments! In a cappella! Who Knew??

Avi can do overtones...the ability to sing a note and have an overlaying tone on top of it...thats what you hear in a lot of their songs.

If you look really close at their eyes you can tell it's contacts because their eyes are red from irritation.

The $400 is a nice story but not strictly accurate that was supply costs. It was filmed in Avi and Kevin's kitchen (roommates as Mitch & Scott were roommates in another apartment to save $$ when they first started Kirstie got to have her own place) see the photos in the story.

I also want to put a band on your radar to consider reacting to. Your comment in this vid about not liking the original version of a song, but enjoying the cover is what got me thinking. The band is called Walk Off The Earth, from Canada (Toronto, I think). It's possible you've heard of them at least once - Five Peeps One Guitar, covering Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know. They do some really playful, yet intricate and precise versions of songs that I normally wouldn't care for, but they add something really cool to it. Instruments can include whippy-tubes, didgeridoo, silverware, and all the normal ones. Oh, and lots of ukuleles! I will link the one that got them their start, then you can decide if you want to pursue them further.
