I really agree with how you articulated thunder dragons place in the meta. Its clearly fighting for that #1 overall spot for the reasons you mentioned. Just a lack of overall representation but that statistics dont lie.
Laughed out loud at "getting into arugments about how Yubel Loving Defender (and Nightmare Pain) interacts with Bloom Diva". I've had to rule this scenario a half-dozen times already. For those curious, it's really simple. Neither player takes Battle Damage, whether it's reflected by Nightmare Pain or not ["you take no battle damage from attacks involving this card"]. After Damage Calculation, Bloom Diva inflicts 1000 effect damage ["inflict damage equal to the difference in ATK and if you do, destory that monster"] but cannot destroy Loving Defender ["cannot be destroyed by card effects"]. At the End of the Damage Step, Loving Defender then inflicts 1000 effect damage and banishes Bloom Diva ["inflict damage equal to the difference in ATK and if you do, banish that monster"].
I screenshoted your comment because one of my friends plays melodious and our local is filled with Yubel. The official yugioh rulings page has no answer for this interaction. Thank you.
We might see a new meta of Tenpai jump scares where decks that have the space to slot out 15 cards in games 2 and 3 can transform their strategy into Tenpai relatively easily
I've been doing that with Kashtira. It's insane how good smoke screening most of the kashtira engine outside of Fenrir and maybe the extenders or riseheart and make it pure tenpai. Even Fenrir by itself is a 1 card Tenpai combo.

Yeah Paidra is up there but every other main deck card is pennies. Even with Paidra being in the upper teens price-wise the full core is only like 60 bucks rn.
This weekend I brought Melodious Centur-Ion to locals and took it. Starting with Ostinato can end on a 3-mat Apoloussa with no opportunity to Nibiru, and THEN making Banshee to search Trudea and do the whole Centur-Ion line for a Calamity on the opponent's turn. So Ostinato is another 3 copies of 1-card starters for the whole combo. If my opening hand already had one of the 16 other one-card starters, then I could go 2-mat Apoloussa + Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon + I:P or S:P before starting the Centur-Ion line (which also ends on the trap that banishes a monster. As someone playing thunder dragon in Master Duel...yeah it's not great. I played Yugioh when I was like 10, saw OG Thunder Dragon in the case, knew it was shiny and expensive but couldn't evaluate why it was supposed to be good. I'm having fun with it and I am actually climbing, but the gap in card quality is insane.
As for Centurion, the deck still wants to go for Calamity, sure, but the new pieces make the deck a tad better. Dragon is probably the highlight, as it can enable better rank 8 plays and can send Trudea to the GY (that has used its eff to place itself and another name into S/T). Auxila is a better extender and can protect your backrow **generically** (prepare your Moon Mirror Shields). Not sure about Wake-Up, but could be ok. The deck by itself is just heavily reliant on Primera to Synchro off, which is why I've recently tinkered splashing in a small Branded package - 3x Guiding Quem, 2x Albion, 2x Branded in Red - to get another access to a lvl 4 Tuner to diversify my combos into lvl 12 Synchros. Quem is also a great extender, because if you SS any Centurion Synchro without using her, you can SS Albion and make another lvl 12 Synchro, leaving you to a possibility of summoning Calamity without the field spell, and possibly on Standby Phase. And also Branded in Red gives me a new avenue for ED plays - in my case, Masquerade.
Floo being the last deck in tier 3 and MBT going right into saying, "If you're deck hasn't been mentioned yet, I'm sorry", and I'm like, Woo! Made it in just under the wire! Floo Forever!
The current format is better enough than the last format for me to even participate in the main event at YCS indy. If the last format continued, I was just going to play side events. The good news about these formats is that they got me into the one piece tcg.
alright! I can live with this tier list, Melodious is gonna get better, both pure and splash, one I thing I liked about rio was people played schuberta in their melodious engines, normally it would take 2 bacha and that would be it but no some played 1/2 bacha with a schubeta, I think 2nd place was also siding a copy of Etoile, those stuff I like seeing. This also cause schuberta's price to triple after Rio, she went from 3 bucks to 9 bucks per copy. Bloom Diva vs Yubel forms are always gonna be funny, Bacha vs Bagooska is always gonna be funny, as Melodious adapts to shifter decks, you either gonna spend your resources to end on Etoile + aria and maybe another monster or just pass on a bagooska because let's be honest, which shifter deck is beating bagooska ?
I think Yubel is probably tier 2 rather than tier 3. Nightmare Throne is a one card combo all by itself that can get Rage in the GY with Abomniable Chamber set and a two mat Apollousa, or other combos ending with Varudras or Yubel + Samsara D. Lotus.
I know it's not seeing as much representation in the TCG, possibly due to the lack of Electrumite (miss you everyday) and Baronne (rest in hell), but I would be super interested to hear MBT's thoughts on the Supreme King variant of Melodious, given that we've seen the pure version getting representation in top cuts ever since LEDE and I know he's talked a few times about showing interest in that version specifically. As said, omni-negates right now are a premium and the Melodious engine gives incredibly easy access to Vortex Dragon, either as part of your plays on the way to the rest of your board or as a punishment for a less knowledgable opponent using Nibiru on the 5th summon. I don't think it's the best version of the singing ladies, but it's definitely an enjoyable one that I've personally found a real soft spot for.
Can't believe Joseph didn't account for the pure psychic shock associated with dropping veidos on a field spell, causing both you and your opponent to question their card purchases.
As a memento player yeah it has a hard time playing through 2+ hand traps and depending on the build can be pretty bricky, can’t wait for the new support
I like pure melodious, but with 1st movement at a premium, the supreme king pendulum cards are a nice cheap alternative costing less than a single 1st movement
on my first match on my most recent locals, I lost to Tenpai... I was fine with that. I put up a fight, got rid of most of their stuff, but went right through me. The real issue I had was my 3rd match... Game 1: Round 1.: I start, I get hit with Ash, Inperm, and Nibiru in this order. Obviously I don't end on a good board... namely, 1 Nibiru token. Round 2.: My nibiru token is dead, and I take about 9k damage. Game 2: Round 1: My opponent is doing some not too useful stuff. Round 2: my turn is nice, but nothing too insane. Than my opponent flips There Can Be Only One... My deck might have 2 types, not just 1, but ffs, I got locked out of my entire extra deck, because I couldn't get 2 monsters with different types than my extra deck XYZ-s on my field... I got cooked... my a handful of staples... and horus monsters... BTW, I play Traptrix. At least I did in locals. SometimesI also play Red Dragon Archfiend, but that deck of mine is less cnsistent. When it pops off, it's calamity lock, but when it doesn't, the bestI can set up is Archfiend Abyss for an omni negate, and that's that. Maybe a trap or 2.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think zombie world actually shuts down tenpai. Tenpai's protection only extends to dragon types, their synchros require dragon types, and they also can't chuck heavenly spheres either. I know they could just destroy it, but chundra needs to attack to summon, and you can't link summon in battle phase, so by the time they can get rid of it (without a spell card) would be the main phase 2, at which point they're screwed, because tenpai can't build a board to save its life. (I also search the card regularly as part of my main combo, from rainbow bridge of salvation in my crystal beast deck, as well as searching a negate, so I can keep it alive).
Melodious felt insane in combination with Voiceless. Biggest ceiling of any deck in the format (4+ negates plus SP) and immune to Nib through Guardians omni. Pretty much dominated my very competitive locals (60+ players).
Loving memento and playing it loads atm but that’s a 100% fair take. It’s so close and the next wave is going to bust the deck wide open but it is in this weird state of just waiting for INFO
I LOVE tenpai Dragon. I've played so many games with it and against it, and I've had so much fun. So excited about it, now it only I had friends with Trident Dragion
That I see melodious in the meta is crazy for me in the past the deck was strong but had something Missing. It had super strong starters but i didn’t think It would get support
My recent pet Deck Memento has a potential, that is enough for me. Hoping for the banlist to deal with the Snake-eyes so that Memento get to tier. Wouldn't it be funny saying "After 25 years, Tri-horn Dragon is finally tier 1"
Trust me man, ragnaraika is the new tier 0, i swear 😭😭 I love the idea of the deck and tbh am probably just gonna rock it to locals in hopes that one day a good pay off for the tri type infinite link materials it provides is printed. Hopefully i van at least steal a few games 😂
Personally I think Lab is just super hand dependent, some hands die to any interaction at all while other could play through 2-3. The biggest bonus to playing Lab is it's ability to wildly change it's game plan not just post side but even during a match with lady being able to grab you the cards you need.
the additional malicious actually guarantees you'd be able to use Plasma with Dark Law but of course it's so easy to disrupt the combo so it's still pretty bad.
I just got 21st place at a regional with Memento and that’s after misplaying terribly and costing me many games. If the Yugioh community wasn’t such a hive mind, they’d actually explore the deck and realize that’s it’s better than most people think (currently).
I got third at the seattle regional with tenpai yesterday, i dueled for first in the last round but my opponent slow played like you wouldnt believe. Making games that should have been 10 min’s each 20 then winning in time also shuffling for an unbelievable amount of time just bleeding the clock. Multiple people approached me after saying he’s known for doing scummy stuff like that to secure wins.
People are forgetting something....you don't...have to play Thundra to use Colossus. I've seen builds going through Nemeses Flag and Corridor to make Colossus as part of their endboard for an example.
I played lightsworn synchro runick and omg so much gas. The ability to use psy frame lord omega and the runick cards are just boss and they beat me game 3. But it doesnt help i lost dice roll either.
I do want to know where you think Dragon Link sits in the tier list? I am jaded I know, I love the deck but I know Baronne and Borrel-Savage were key pieces in the deck so I highly doubt it will ever hit above Tier 3
I’m willing to actually argue tenpai is teir 1 but I can also agree with 2. It’s very hard to place because of how the meta is so wide now. And having the ability to play 30 non engine is very strong. And if you draw literally anything it goes full combo. And it can quick synchro ON THEIR OPPONENTS TURN. It’s very hard to place it imo but I can agree both on placing it 1 or 2.
I feel like Yubel really relies on winning the die roll. Their turn 1 end board is hard to overcome unless you're specifically tenpai. Games 2 and 3 are rough because of the potential to open entirely non-engine or any of the bricks you run. Plus the backrow hate in the subsequent games. Yubel mirror sucks btw.
After you mentioned thinking Vanquish Soul had some play in the meta on stream, I was disappointed you didn't mention it. Am I misremembering and you meant in Master Duel specifically? Or is it just not worth considering in any real tcg tournament?
where the fuck is my goofy robot army birds It's probably a Tier 3 deck, somewhere between Purrely and Yubel, MAYBE above it? Raidraptor's probably not super popular right now by virtue of being very hard to play, not to mention, while yes there's a good number of decks who can't out the Twin Falcons, guess which deck absolutely can? That's right, it's Snake-Eyes.
I played against Tenpai Melodius and it was incredibly good. Exhaust interactions with the Melodius then they summoned a Tenpai and i was like "ah, guess I lose"
I think Floo is a little stronger than you give credit. Has decent mash ups across the board, plays shifter, naturally good against links (and does not trigger princess). Yes, a bunch of handtraps could be a problem but I mean it has more ways to play around imperm, veiler, ash than ever before. And above all it's probably the best bang for your buck (unfortunately).
Wow, I can see why Thunder Dragons are coming back to tier 1 now. All the Decks in Tier 2 and above search a lot of cards, and Colossus can put a full stop to that completely. It also helps that even if the Tenpai monsters are unaffected by Colossus's effect, he stops the player, not the Tenpai themselves. No wonder Thunder Dragons are the superior dragons~
I’m pretty sure runick stun is still really good. I am probably coping cause that’s all I can afford but also I’d probably rather just not play if the only deck I can play prevents any Yugioh at all.
is the non stun runick lists also going in stop coping tier? they seem at least better than the stun version, it would surprise me if they weren't at least tier 3
I can't believe Joseph put Thunder Dragon in Tier 1, no way that's correct.

If and when Konami starts to hit Snake-eyes, I honestly believe that Voiceless voice and tenpai would be tier one.
how 2 make Tenpai tier 1: BO1 🙃
Tis not a matter of if, only when
I think Yubel is probably tier 2 rather than tier 3. Nightmare Throne is a one card combo all by itself that can get Rage in the GY with Abomniable Chamber set and a two mat Apollousa, or other combos ending with Varudras or Yubel + Samsara D. Lotus.
melodious mention!
just you wait, the moment a new level 12 synchro is release, centurion will be number 1!
Now to build runick thunder dragon, I'm not here to win I'm here to suffer
I heard Dragion is gonna drop a diss track on you in the coming days
MBT must love Thunder Dragon...
As a member of the "Lightsworn Upper Echelon" I am sincerely offended by the lack of mill in the Stop Coping tier
I came around to Kashtira because Vanquish Soul works really well with it and it felt really good coming back to yugioh with this deck
Can't believe Joseph didn't account for the pure psychic shock associated with dropping veidos on a field spell, causing both you and your opponent to question their card purchases.
Damn, that Thunder dragon tech is fucking sick, makes sense people have gotten caught offguard!
Game 1:
Round 1.: I start, I get hit with Ash, Inperm, and Nibiru in this order. Obviously I don't end on a good board... namely, 1 Nibiru token.
Round 2.: My nibiru token is dead, and I take about 9k damage.
Game 2:
Round 1: My opponent is doing some not too useful stuff.
Gotta play the bills some how. Im here for EVERY RUNICK VARIANT
Have to open the ostinato. The branded version is more consistent
@@MaliEndzand also you lack the abismal space for non engine that pure voiceless has, making hard to go second
I think horus orcust has solid t3 potential.
That I see melodious in the meta is crazy for me in the past the deck was strong but had something Missing. It had super strong starters but i didn’t think It would get support
Was hoping you would do another one of these thanks
My recent pet Deck Memento has a potential, that is enough for me. Hoping for the banlist to deal with the Snake-eyes so that Memento get to tier. Wouldn't it be funny saying "After 25 years, Tri-horn Dragon is finally tier 1"
Damn that Harmonizer Gradielle art is fire
I know we're not there yet, but I feel like we're getting close to the card advantage levels that pokemon has
Trust me man, ragnaraika is the new tier 0, i swear 😭😭
I love the idea of the deck and tbh am probably just gonna rock it to locals in hopes that one day a good pay off for the tri type infinite link materials it provides is printed. Hopefully i van at least steal a few games 😂
You can see the exact point when his soul leaves his body as he starts talking about Hero being in the Cope tier
Personally I think Lab is just super hand dependent, some hands die to any interaction at all while other could play through 2-3. The biggest bonus to playing Lab is it's ability to wildly change it's game plan not just post side but even during a match with lady being able to grab you the cards you need.
or smokescreening into tenpai when going second 🗿
the additional malicious actually guarantees you'd be able to use Plasma with Dark Law but of course it's so easy to disrupt the combo so it's still pretty bad.
I just got 21st place at a regional with Memento and that’s after misplaying terribly and costing me many games. If the Yugioh community wasn’t such a hive mind, they’d actually explore the deck and realize that’s it’s better than most people think (currently).
Memento has a lot going for it, especially with the new INFO support, but even now it's a good deck, not tier 1 of course but like mid 2
I got third at the seattle regional with tenpai yesterday, i dueled for first in the last round but my opponent slow played like you wouldnt believe. Making games that should have been 10 min’s each 20 then winning in time also shuffling for an unbelievable amount of time just bleeding the clock.
Multiple people approached me after saying he’s known for doing scummy stuff like that to secure wins.
judge?
@@j.w.213 the judges quite literally looked away every time.
People are forgetting something....you don't...have to play Thundra to use Colossus. I've seen builds going through Nemeses Flag and Corridor to make Colossus as part of their endboard for an example.
I’m a little surprised you didn’t include Raidraptor. Even if it got put in the Stop Coping tier. Guess people have forgotten about it already. 😢
I do wish you discussed T Dragon more lol
I played lightsworn synchro runick and omg so much gas. The ability to use psy frame lord omega and the runick cards are just boss and they beat me game 3. But it doesnt help i lost dice roll either.
Just wait till fiendsmith releases with the yubel support. Deck can do some crazy things together
I love seeing Melodious going places but I can already see it getting slaughtered like the Naturia half of Naturia Runick.
I do want to know where you think Dragon Link sits in the tier list? I am jaded I know, I love the deck but I know Baronne and Borrel-Savage were key pieces in the deck so I highly doubt it will ever hit above Tier 3
Ok that is evil. I love it.
Yubel mirror sucks btw.
mfw you summon Loving Defender with your opponent's own Loving Defender
Lmao caught me I had to bring back the video a minute
I think yubel is going to go crazy against tenpai. Battle phase going brazy.
Voiceless voice melodious is also good
i took offense at that early statement, goblin biker is playable!
After you mentioned thinking Vanquish Soul had some play in the meta on stream, I was disappointed you didn't mention it. Am I misremembering and you meant in Master Duel specifically? Or is it just not worth considering in any real tcg tournament?
where the fuck is my goofy robot army birds
It's probably a Tier 3 deck, somewhere between Purrely and Yubel, MAYBE above it? Raidraptor's probably not super popular right now by virtue of being very hard to play, not to mention, while yes there's a good number of decks who can't out the Twin Falcons, guess which deck absolutely can? That's right, it's Snake-Eyes.
I played against Tenpai Melodius and it was incredibly good. Exhaust interactions with the Melodius then they summoned a Tenpai and i was like "ah, guess I lose"
Snake-Eye Diabellstar? Im still waiting for them to make Odd-Eyes Performapal Magician.
I think we brimg back kit and keep every other tear name where it is. Time to show snake eyes a fraction of our power
people have somehow ignored that centurion plays shifter now lol
any thoughts on plant decks? like Rikka Sunavalon?
colossus to the moon bby
I think Floo is a little stronger than you give credit. Has decent mash ups across the board, plays shifter, naturally good against links (and does not trigger princess). Yes, a bunch of handtraps could be a problem but I mean it has more ways to play around imperm, veiler, ash than ever before. And above all it's probably the best bang for your buck (unfortunately).
For me it's indredible that 6 years later striker is still on a tier list video
how dare you say that about my beloved rescue ace. now i gotta do a blood feud
I felt the pain of every hero player that have ever met in that 12:22 "hero..."
