This song and That Smell, everyone should heed the warnings, his me to my very soul. Lost my sister 2yrs ago to heroine overdose. Please get help , you can't do it alone. Ronnie was trying to save his people. RIP JENNY HIPPIE JOE
Yes I have made my peace with it, she struggled since she was 17 and passed at 46. But I a few years back got a rare germ cell cancer which was stage 4 and unfortunately my fight has finally running out, I am on borrowed time but I made it much longer than they ever expected. Anyway so sorry for your loss , Truly. GOD BLESS
To your point of Neil young and Skynyrd, I heard an interview with Ronnie that it made him mad that Young would label ALL southern people as racists. I believe Young apologized and you’ll see Ronnie wearing t-shirts with Young on the front, so they made up. It is unfair to judge a whole sect of people, and assume they’re racist, and that was Ronnie’s point. He was offended, as he should have been. Neither he or any of the band were racist.
What Up DS, they have a live album, their 4th album is One more from the road, love TRAVELIN' MAN and SEARCHIN', for their 5th album, Gimme back my bullets, they only have 2 guitars, like this video.
You gotta check out some deep cuts from Skynyrd like “Am I Losin”, “Was I Right or Wrong?”, “Comin’ Home”, and “Cry for the Bad Man”. All 4 of those songs are just pure perfection.
Ronnie wrote alot of great songs, people only know the one's they have heard on the radio etc, Missing out on Am I Losing,Roll Gypsy Roll,All I Can Do Is Write About It,Comin Home,Searching,I Ain't The One Jacksonville Kid Down South Jukin ,and so many others
'Skynyrd never disappoints. Btw, if you get the chance to check out "Workin' For MCA", please give it a listen. The slick yankee that Ronnie Van Zant mentions, is Al Kooper, the man who discovered Lynyrd Skynyrd in Atlanta, while they played at a club called Funochios. Al Kooper got them to sign with the record label MCA.
Hello my friend you finally got to the needle and spoon thank you, I told you I wasn’t gonna bug you cause I knew you would pick all the right music and North Florida ( Jacksonville) appreciates the hell out of it. We got your back my friend . Take care
My absolutely favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song is One More Time from Street Survivor and I love ALL of their songs. That song is very personal too me. It perfectly describes my complicated friendship with a one time girlfriend who passed a couple of years ago.The song was a demo from the early days so it features Ricky Medlocke on drums and Ed King who was asked to add some guitar to the demo.I believe this may be the only song to feature both Ed and Ricky until the Rock n Roll HOF induction performance
As always, so grateful for the music they gave us, and so saddened for all the music they never got the chance to share. Thanks for sharing your love of this band. One of my top 5 all time favorite bands (number one Southern Rock), such an incredible blend of the seemingly simple and the oh, so, sublime.
you know i thought the same exact thing no kiddin, honestly when i see a plane i think of them and others, my heart still breaks for them all peace and blessings to you.
One of those most underrated Skynyrd songs IMO I’m not old enough to have seen the original band before the plane crash but I’ve seen them play in the 90s and 2000s and they were still great. Artemis Pyle (drummer) used to play at a little dive bar near me in NC and he would just go off on the drums. It’s cool to see their old performances. Thanks for putting it on here. 🙏
Sweet Home Alabama was a reaction to two Neil Young songs, "Southern Man" and "Alabama" . You should check out both of them to get the entire story. Thanks
Gaines added a different flair and style, but personally I prefer the King lineup. He was influential in writing a lot of their hits on their first three albums (Saturday Night Special, Alabama, Whiskey Rock-a-roller, I Need You).
@@NLBrown-gz2qe Ed played 72-75 and co wrote 11 of the Skynyrd songs. Steve 76-77 on Street Survivors he wrote two songs by himself and co wrote two with Ronnie. Also Ed joined to replace Leon on bass
This is after Ed king left mid tour so they mad an album to bounce back and title was gimme back my bullets and it was about the billboard hot 100 charts not real bullets because Ronnie ( the lead singer ) was anti guns and so were most of the origanal lynyrd skynyrd
Savoy brown “needle & spoon”,for something live look up”all I can do is cry” there’s a basement session. I would send you the link but being an old fart I don’t know how.
PLEASE have a listen to some of Steppenwolf's lesser known songs. Snowblind Friend, Monster, Jupiter's Child, Move Over, Sookie Sookie, Lawdy Mama, For Ladies Only, Who Needs You. You won't be disappointed.
Hopefully 1 day you will react to Steve Gaines One in the Sun.It was before he joined Skynyrd. In an interview RVZ said one day Steve will be bigger than Skynyrd✌🏻
This isn't my favorite LS, they were in the depths of drugs, alcohol and endless road dates. Ronnie had told many that he was done because he felt the spark and tightness of the band had been lost from the days in the sweat shack. Steve Gaines brought a spark to the band and would have been the muse that Ronnie needed. But hey I'm one of the guys that likes the real early stuff and I'm a huge fan of "Nuthin Fancy" which was panned by fans and critics but NF has all the songs that Ronnie had stuck in his head from years on the road. "Was I right" and"Four walls of Raiford" are some of their finest works IMO.
This group had some of best musicians to ever play
He's right in this song, I've been there and done that. It's best to leave it alone. It's a dead end.
This song and That Smell, everyone should heed the warnings, his me to my very soul. Lost my sister 2yrs ago to heroine overdose. Please get help , you can't do it alone. Ronnie was trying to save his people. RIP JENNY HIPPIE JOE
Hope you can find some comfort some day. I lost my brother to cancer. The loss of a sibling is different from any other loss.

I believe Ronnie was buried in a Neil Young shirt
Allen Collins on the Firebird laying it down, my favorite guitarist of ALL time!
Drama, Mr. Van Zant knew what time it was, one of the first anti- Drug songs here, Cousin Figel
And that my friends is how they blew the stones right off the stage😂😂😂
Fuckin legends man
One of the best live bands ever.
Insane musicianship
LS never fails to deliver. The anti drug message should be heeded. Lovin the reactions D.
Love to watch this guy getting into the Skynyrd groove
Well well...here we go!!!
The Needle and the Spoon and That Smell were both 70's interventions done Skynyrd style!
I see Lynyrd Skynyrd automatically gets a 👍☮️

Deep cut.

I love this one B/C of how it features Allen Collins. Man do I miss him
My favorite band music brings unity 👍🏻

"Main Street"
Guitar driven Southern Rock that was taken around the world by these masters.
Absolute chills they do not music like this anymore. Such talent I can not
Too me the goat of great bands

Love this song and even better it is Ronnie Van Zant original singer of Skynrd that died and now his brother Johnny is the singer, Great choice!!!

great reaction. Working for MCA from the album One More From The Road. Live Skynyrd. Tells about singing with MCA.
Thanks for doing this one! For some reason this song never gets reacted to. Great reaction!

I Need You, Travellin’ Man. Live 1976.
I saw them May 11 that same year. That was the first show that Steve Gaines first played with them in public. Kansas City.
Words don't do it justice
Imagine how many more hits they would’ve made. 😢😢
Just found your channel you are awesome 53 years old here and you are bringing up many many many cherished memories..

Southern Rock Legends. It doesn't get any better
This song really should have got radio time. It was definitely a hit.
classic, thanks for reaction. this song is so sad. the words and then the later reality. rip all thats passed, on their trip to the moon.
Steve Gaines (3rd guitarist) must have joined after this show. Ed King left the band, and it took them a while to replace him. Great reaction.
Steve Gaines first gig was at The Fox, recorded for the One From The Road album

Pick any song by Skynyrd they're all good!!
It wasn’t just “Southern Man” by Neil Young, give a listen to “Alabama” too.
Listen here big homey, you need to hit The Steelwoods cover of southern accents. It’s a must.
They didn't need any fireworks smoke machines and flashing lights. Just good ol souther boys laying it down.
