Thank you ever so much for this tutorial. I never thought of rolling out the fondant. I used to take a lump of it and try to press it into the crevices. No wonder the impression would be so untidy!
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Orlando Idris I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Thank you for this, I am about to try my first ever silicone mold's and the tip about cornstarch is priceless, I would not have thought of that. By the way, my cat is watching this also, and is fascinated with your lovely hands, touching the screen lol.
I'm getting ready for my first attempt at using fondant molds. Thank you so much for this video. It answered all of my questions. I really appreciate you taking the time to post this. God Bless. :-)
I just bought the numbers and letter from wilton and the first time I tryit it came out in pieces I am going to try it this ways to see if it helps thank you :) greetings from chicago
Thank you so much for this very informative tutorial. A good video is worth a thousand words! I'd like to use these silicone molds with pie crust and pastry dough. Besides having to work quickly with very cold dough, any reason why they wouldn't work just as well for that purpose? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
thank you for this tutorial. very easy to follow. i have a quick question. if i make these ahead of time and leave to dry does it becaome too hard to attach on a fondant covered cake? will the mold designs break? thank you
They become rigid, so will not attach to a rounded cake smoothly unless left to dry on a rounded surface the same size as the cake it is to be put on. It would attach fine to a flat edged cake.
Leaving the fondant on the mold a little longer will make the fondant slightly harden and relatively easier to demold. But you really don’t have to :) also pay attention on the mold design as well, some design will be easier to demold while the fondant’s still soft and some when it’s harder.
Great tutorial! What gum paste did you use? I bought a load of silicon moulds of ebay but I'm confused on what to use. Fondant, icing, sugar craft, sugar paste, gum... What's the difference in them all? Can you make moulds out of the same stuff you used to cover your cake? As you can tell, I'm a real rookie at this, and don't know much about cake decorating. Also, how do you stick your moulds to your cake? Is edible glue really necessary? I've been looking into the Renshaw icing/fondant/sugarpaste. Or thought about getting Dr.Otker and using cornstarch so it won't stick. Any help would be great!
hi i still have the hard mold that you guys had long time got it from my sis but have no idear how to use them need some silicone ones were can i get them thanks
I can’t say for sure since I have never done that. But if the cavity is not too deep or too large, I think you can as long as you leave it dry fully before handling. And make sure to put some cornstarch so the fondant doesn’t stick to the pan :)
You can use it right away if you are careful not to squish it. But to paint over it, you need to let it dry for few hours depending on your environment (preferably overnight to be safe)
Okay, then what. I've seen some videos that you're supposed to put them in the freezer and then I've heard some say You're supposed to let them dry for 36 hours. What are you supposed to do? Freeze them, dry them, what?
You can reduce the waiting time by putting it in the freezer, but bear in mind that it will condensate right after you take it out of the freezer. It will work just fine in dry weather but gotta be careful on humid area
hi great video. do you make your own fondant? i love baking and im starting to use silicone molds and fondant. i dont know what is best to use, i tried dr oetkers regal icing and it just gets stuck in the mold and is too sticky to handle. any advice would be greatly appreciated x
In fact you can'tuse only fondant, you should add gumpaste too or CMC, I prefer gumpaste, I mix 50% of fundant with 50% of gumpaste, otherwise it's too fondant...
I used 100% fondant for this one, i think it was satin ice or fondx. Can't really remember. I added enough cornstarch to make it less sticky. Is it the humidity in your room?
Great tutorial! I'd love one that shows how to do multi-colored decorations. By the way, you have very beautiful hands!

Really helpful... thanks
If I press fondant on the bottom a metallic pumpkin-shaped cake mold, will I be able to unmold it ?
I can’t say for sure since I have never done that. But if the cavity is not too deep or too large, I think you can as long as you leave it dry fully before handling. And make sure to put some cornstarch so the fondant doesn’t stick to the pan :)
@@Lacupella Hey, thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it. Won't the cornstarch leave a white, powdery film on the surface of the fondant ?
Just a little cornstarch can be wiped off easily. Or rub a little shortening on top if it’s too much
@@Lacupella OK, thanks ! :)
Fantastic!!
Can I use tapioca instead
Helpful indeed! Thanks! :)
it really did help thank you
Awesome!
Vivo en bogotá colombia.
Very practical
Is there something to make it hard? Or it's just wait until it's hard?
Just wait until it’s hard :)
that was so great Thank you so much! :)
This is so nice thank U
Can I use icing sugar (confectioners sugar) rather than cornstarch?
It won’t work as well as conrstarch if your weather is somehwat humid but if is not, powdered sugar will work just fine
Awesome thank u
How long does it have to set before you can use it?
You can use it right away if you are careful not to squish it. But to paint over it, you need to let it dry for few hours depending on your environment (preferably overnight to be safe)
Cute

hi there, thanks you so much for this video, Could please advise how to color them and which food colors to use
You can watch this video on how to paint them. Or you can just use colored fondant instead of white
Painting gold on gumpaste
Many thanks☺☺☺
if I use gum paste, do I have to stick it on the cake straight away if it's a round edge that I will be sticking it on?
Yes you do. Or else it will dry hard and you won't be able to bend them anymore :)
nice job!

Try to use cornstarch instead of shortening or powdered sugar if it’s too sticky
Thank youuuuuu
