Ah, I can see a matching star on one rear pocket of your jeans would look super smart too.
Great idea!!
What a great idea! You could do a miniature “matching” star on the front. You’d have them coming and going.
Great idea!!💥
Oh Fun! Very cute, Tracy :) Almost reminds me of the embellishments we would put on sweatshirts in the early 80s before we cut the front to make it look like a cardigan! Eventually I will make a quilt jacket.
I’ve only ever had one jean jacket. Also in the 80s and early 90s. It was made from a floral printed denim, had puff shoulders, and when I bought it it had lace on the collar and cuffs. The lace was removed when I got home. My father was mad. If I still had it, I’d absolutely add some cute blocks to it!
Have a fantastic weekend!!!
Tracy is so creative. I love her tutorials. An excellent and detailed teacher😊
Love the stonewash jacket
That’s to cool. Very interesting idea for a quilter
Hi Tracy! You are the scrap queen! Very cute! Most of us would have to win the loyyo to get a Laurastar iron.
I just finally got cordless one and i really like it.
Both of those jackets look adorable on you!
Have alessed evening! You're so creative!
I love blues!
beautiful star block!!!!
I loved the quilt that you made for your daughter. I recognized those scraps as soon as I saw them. I’m wondering what these stars would look like with something in the center. I have some six inch squares that have a baseball taking up most of the space with just a touch of a blue filling in around the circle. Hmm. Enjoy your jacket. TFS.
YES! IT IS CUUUUTE!
Looks awesome Tracy, as always. You rock girl!!
How talented are you??!! What a neat idea and so fun. I happen to think both jackets are stunning. And it was so sad watching your short on JoAnn Fabrics closing. I'm hoping mine stays open.
Both jackets are very nice
I like the washed out one best 🧵
Both jackets are very cute! I am glad you shared this, I have been knocking this idea around in my head. Your instructions are much appreciated 😊

❤ this video. I've been thinking about doing this with a jacket. Thanks for the inspiration.
Very cute.
Love all your coats!😊
I've been thinking of putting orphan blocks on some of my clothing. Thanks for the info.❤
I love, love, love these. I received a CottonCuts patch and sewed it to my Jean jacket. I have been thinking what I want to put on the back. A scrappy sawtooth star will look great. Mine will be in oranges tho. I have orange scraps left from a baby quilt I made for my 21 yo niece. It is my fav color soooo. Thanks Tracy
So adorable!! I love it!
Now I need to try this. It turned out sew cute!
Very cute

Looks great I like the dark blue jacket. Great idea's that you have..look forward to the next video Thanks 😊
You always come up with the cutest, and neatest projects Miss Tracy!! These jackets turned out so awesome. I think I like the blue one the most but then I look at the muted lighter one and I think of all the outfits that would go with. Nice job!! Love love love it. 🤗🤗
You should totally put one on your coat since you are going to a retreat at the end of the month...right?
@@TheSewingChannel yes I am. So excited. But….i think Miss Tracy should come too. 🥰🥰🥰 you could show us how to make one in person. Talk about the best retreat of all time!! Just sayin. 🤗🤗 one day I so hope you do. It would be epic. 🤩🤩
Maybe next year🤷🏻♀️ I am planning to come to Idaho next year for sure!
Can you do a video on your new iron
The piece across the shoulders I think is “yoke”
Yes. Your jacket is cute. I have never owned a denim jacket. I think it is time I buy one (or make my own). I would applique the patch on (if I am not using any batting). Would using School glue help hold everything in place (without using pins)?
School glue would work...but pinning will make it more secure I think🤷🏻♀️
Yup; it’s super cute, alright! ❤ That’s a cool trick, too, for turning the points out!
I’m so glad you did this video bc I’ve been meaning to put a quilt block on the back of my jeans jackets, too. But I hvnt been able to make up my mind which one. I’ve also been throwing around the idea of using a portion of a cheater panel. 😁 My jackets are pink and baby blue.
I’m curious: Did you you try (or consider) making a block w the star points on first, and then just sewing around the whole block at once, & then turning it out? If so (or if not) why did you choose not too?
(Saving myself some future trouble) 😂 TFS 🌷
This was my thought, too. Make scrappy fabric, then cut out the whole star and sew on fusible interfacing, flip inside out, and quilt onto the jacket. Seems like a much faster method.
I thought about sewing a whole block...but I decided I liked the color of the jacket as the background....and by making the pieces separate with the puffiness it looks a little 3D✅
❤❤❤
Thank you so much for sharing. The timing was perfect. I was just planning to do one as well and now I know how. Is there a reason you didn't make the full sawtooth star block and sew it on in one piece?
I didn't sew a whole block because I wanted the look of the coat as a background✅
1ST QUESTION FOR TRACEY: how big is your sewing room? 2ND QUESTION: do you have or want a she shed?
No bigger than 12' x 12' prob...Never thought of having a she shed🤷🏻♀️
Hi Tracey. Your videos have encouraged me to start quilting. I even made a car blanket as my first project. Now onto bigger projects. I have a question about your machine. In one of your videos you turned the machine. Does the shaft turn also? My Viking has a small throat so it’s very hard to do fmq. If your juki can be used in another position I might have to get me one. Thanks
Awesome..happy to hear you love to quilt! My machine turns on it side...I think the Juki TL models are only ones that do that. If you decide to get one...be sure to use my Juki junkie link in the info box so you can get a free gift with the purchase❤️
Thanks Tracey I will check it out.
Does your Juki come with a walking foot?
Yes it does...✅
