I should have mentioned that it is meant to hang not to stand🤷🏻♀️ But that being said....absolutely add interfacing or quilt foam to make it stand up✅
I almost spent money on buying a pattern that included the thread bag design. I made my thread bag in 90 minutes,. Thank you so much for your tutorial. I'm going to make more as gifts.
Love this cute little bag so much am heading to the sewing studio to make one as a gift for my neighbour. I had a good chuckle over the line, "if you like to hand sew, good for you." You expressed my sentiments exactly. Thanks so much for the tutorial Tracy
I am a seasoned sewer. But I have to admit I watched your video from beginning to end. It was wonderful. So I passed the link to my daughter that has never sewed a thing ever, to practice following directions. She made it and did a good job. She made a second one, (because she felt the first one wasn’t quite neat enough,) and the second looked like it was done by a professional. Thank you so much I actually enjoyed watching it from beginning to end as well. Have a beautiful day🇨🇦
I'm a intermediate beginner sewist who's been using an old cracker tin for my threads & fabric scraps. It's good but awkward to move around without tipping over. I love your tutorial on this adorable thread/scrap fabric catcher!!! I've got just the fabric & matching 6 inch hoop to make one!!! Thank you!!!
Hello! I hope you have had a cheerful day. I had a busy day in my sewing room too and now I'm sitting with my hand quilting to watch you! I hope you have a great week ahead and I'm looking forward to your next video! Thank you for sharing!
What a awesome little idea. I love watching your tutorials explain everything so so well. I knew it sewing it’s been 3 1/2 months now and you make it so easy for me to do small projects thank you so much Tracy
Happy 4th of July Tracy. Due to weather all plans have been canceled. I have had all the fixings for this for awhile and today was the day to it. So easy ,so fast and so cute! Thank you.
Hello Tracy, Thank you for a wonderful idea on this quick project. Love your fabric selection. I know 3 people who will be getting one when our power gets repaired. Im having sewing machine withdraws...dang weather is to blame. Keep up the great ideas and thank you for sharing them with all of us.
What a great tutorial ❣️❣️ Can't wait to make one for my sister and I. Oh yeah and some for my sewing friends 🪡. Thanks Tracy for sharing another awesome idea 💡💡💡 💖💞💖 Your Channel
Just found your channel. I’m a beginner sewer & I love your detailed instructions & how you mark your fabric. Going to make this for sure! Thank you so much 😊
I really like this project and will be giving it a go if I can find some hoops! Just an FYI, heat doesn't really erase this ink. Test it by putting the marked and ironed fabric in the freezer. The marks come back with cold, so be careful where you mark.
@@TheSewingChannel Very good home and I thank you very much for making it I still can’t believe I won it but I’m glad I did and I’m glad it come from you
That is a great idea. I love the fabric you used. We made some of these years ago. However, we used recycled plastic rings cut from gallon vinegar jugs to hold our's open. Your's was a lot quicker to make.
OK so I don’t want to use the embroidery hoops I was wondering if I could bypass that step and where the inside hoop would have been, so or topstitch may be a quarter inch from the edge and give it some structure? You know me Tracy I’m always combining multiple videos into one. Also I need it to be flush against my cutting table so having the ring would prevent that Or figure out where that hoop would be inside and fuse some stabilizer or interfacing instead My life is never simple😅😂🤣🙃🤪😜
LOL I have the same thought processes as well LOL😆 I was thinking to give it stability...to stand on its own you could add fusible fleece to fabric or better yet you could use fusible 1/4" foam. The foam would totally do it.✅ For the flush part.....I was going to a 3M "hinged hook" sort of under the ledge of table....might work🤷🏻♀️
@@TheSewingChannel I think I did buy some fusible foam. Would have to somehow figure out where to fuse the foam since with your method you’re just sliding the hoop in and I would have to fuse it before turning it right side out. But yes for standalone basket that definitely would give it support mine are going to be hanging off of my sewing table because I don’t want any extra stuff on there. And the other one is by my sewing machine that will be hung with a command hook
Tracy, what a cool idea! Love it! I think I will make one. I already have a whole bunch of hoops somewhere, just need to find them. But tell me, where are you hooking it on to?
Hey Tracy, I’ve been looking for the fabric you used for your Thread Catcher for the last week, no luck🥲. Want to make a “3 yd. Quilt” using that fabric. If you still have a piece of selvage would you share the information w/me? I’m guessing “Timeless Treasures” and out of print🫣! Thanks, Mary🍀
I sewed a bag, but I was trying to use two fabrics, so one would be a lining. I made the seam be the what you called the fold and it turned out half and half. Sew… next time if I want a different lining the 18” side, rather than the 20” side should be divided? I’m still confused.
Hello Tracy! This is really a cute idea! But my question is, is it to hang on or near your sewing machine? It doesn't look sturdy enough to set up on it's own.
Yes I'm sure it could...that would be a very small opening though🤷🏻♀️ You will have to play with the measurements to get the right fit for a smaller hoop✅
Hello, of course I am only 2yrs behind😂, but just ran across your video. I know you said you bought your material at Joann’ a d it is beautiful! What is the company/manufacturer’s name please? I love watching you. God Bless and Happy Mother’s Day 2024!

Very cute! I might put some interfacing on the back of the fat quarter to help it stand up a little straighter.

Hi Lottie. It is for hanging. ✅ I should have made it more clear in the video. Sorry😕
When you cut the first 3.75 and up 2" and 3" across is it 3.75 on the left side also?
Never mind I figured out where I made the mistake lol
Well the second one still doesn't come out right, had to cut more out.
I wonder why. Are you sewing at 1/2” seam allowance?
@@TheSewingChannel yes I am I even remeasured
Ok now I feel stupid...I found my problem 😅 I didn't measure material correct but I truly have it now. 3rd one went together perfectly. Thank you
Hey Tracy can this be downsized to a 3" hoop
Yes I'm sure it could...that would be a very small opening though🤷🏻♀️ You will have to play with the measurements to get the right fit for a smaller hoop✅
