As a bagpiper, two of my all time favorite tunes to play are Leaving Friday Harbour and Wee Michaels March. Absolutely beautiful melodies by John McCusker.
Who cares what technique is used when you get these glorious sounds. And look at Michael's flute resting on his shoulder technique and you'd be hard pressed to find a more magnificent flute player on the globe. Stellar musicians. Orchestral players play from notes on paper, trad musicians play from their soul.

This is fiddle playing not violin. Same instrument but the techniques are different.
