Many of you know that, Pancham Da learnt Sarod not actually from Ustad Ali Akhbar Khan but from Annapurna devi who was much more talented than Pt Ravishankar. Abhiman film was made based on relationship between this duo.
Pt Ravishankar & Pancham Da shared a very cordial relationship & once in early TVS Sa Re Ga Ma show where Pt Ravishankar was judge & in judges choice round, he asked all contestants to sing any composition from RD Burman.

Ode to the great musical genius

R.D.Burman, Our Panchamda,
King of melody, rhythm and harmony;
We humbly salute you -
Those who believe in Euphony.
You dared to change,
You took the pain,
Created and innovated tunes and tones, beats and chords,
On a never known lane;
Today the world knows-
It enriched music , a genuine gain.
You broke barriers, created patterns-
One has to dig deep to realize.
From classical to modern, Folk and Jazz,
Eastern and Western,
You were the master of fusion
A listener’s paradise.
We can only spread your creation,
From one age to another.
Bless us and we know we can -
For there cannot be another,

Outstanding Madhavji. You have done an amazing job. He was a prodigal craftsman of music who was exceptional in all genres of music. A composer who composed raga based pure classical songs, jazz based numbers, folk , pop and others with unbelievable perfection in melody, harmony, variety of chords and most innovative use of rhythm patterns and instruments . He introduced so many types of instruments in Bollywood film compositions and that too with complete dedication enhancing the real feel of the melodic structure. As correctly pointed out in his time , the recording systems were much below par than today yet he supervised and collaborated with sound engineers and it still sounds fresh. He used hundreds of musicians and each section competed with each other to create magical music. The astonishing part is he believed in acoustic music in the true sense though he himself introduced synthesisers when they were unheard of but he never allowed the synthesized music to replace acoustic instruments. Another special feature of his music is that is antaras were equally melodic as the Mukhra and even in his peppiest numbers he never ever compromised with melody. R.D.Burman is not just a composer - he is a phenomenon
