- To celebrate the 84th birthday of our Panchamda, we bring to you some amazing Pancham Fans who are striving to preserve the PANCHAM LEGACY for the coming generations.

In bengali there is a famous saying "Purbe Sadhu, Urbe Chayi, Tobe Sadhu r Guun Gayi"; meaning, A great /good soul is recognized only after his death (after his ashes fly away from pyre); This saying is so very true about The Great R D Burman. My great grand father was priminster to the Tripura royal family, he had seen how young sd burman along with his father (the father was a great musician too) were moved out of royal title (long political story); my grand parents fondly remebered how young sd burman studied in coumilla (now in bangladesh, our whole family comes from there), young sd will sing bhatiyali (folk song of bengal fishermen) in evening jalsa in the royal palace, and my generation, kids of 70's, were crazy for rd burman.

I will add one thing here, Coumilla in land of music, just few names, r d burman his father and grandfather, KrishnChandra Dey and his nephew Manna Dey (KC Dey was guru to SD Burman), Ustad Aliakbar Khan, guru of pandit Ravi Shankar and father of Aliakbar Khan, Himangshu Datta (Salil Choudhury calls him father of modern bengali music, in fact many of sd burman's tunes are actually that of Himangshu Dutta)

Pancham Da remain a subject of research, we are all addicted to his creations and have set of songs we tend to listen repeatedly, it gives us happiness and sense of fulfillment,as music is best healer and when it comes from the stead of Pancham Da then heavens falls down..
I fell in love with Music for the first time began with Pancham da....I absolutely adore him for the music that stirred my spirit..Miss him so much..From his music I was able to appreciate other Music Directors. Long Live my Pancham. 🙏
Salute to you too ,Maddy ji who explains Panchamda in an ethereal manner , understandable and appreciated by everyone. I know Brahmanand Singh personally and attended his first screening of Pancham Unmixed at Vidyamandir, Kolkata. Had to buy the DVD the day it was launched and then Knowing Pancham also. A. film which you can repeatedly watch and every time discover a new nuance. I am immensely elated to know about others. I had the fortune to meet Panchamda in Mumbai in 1969 , first ( then a couple of times later also) and had been a hard core bhakt. I used to feel that his music would pass the test of time and today it certainly has touched the pinnacle of popularity even amongst the younger generation. What u r asking is not clear. If you are looking for a duet of both father and son...they had sung together in Raina Soyi Soyi, along with Latadidi under the music direction of senior Burmanda. But not sure if u r asking the same as I understood.
