- Ranjit Gazmer, a well known music composer and musician of Nepali language Kollywood and Hindi language Bollywood films. Ranjit Gazmer popularly known as 'Kancha', the name which is given by RD Burman. He is one of the sitting member of RD Burman.
Ranjit Gazmer, under RD Burman, played Maadal in several Hindi film songs such as Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Sholay, Ijaazat, Chitchor, Ghar, 1942 A love story and many more. In 1982, Ranjit arranged for Asha Bhosle to sing her first Nepali film song. Since then he has composed music for several Nepali films such as Samjhana, Kusume Rumal, Lahure, Saino, and Darpan Chaya. He is based in Mumbai and records songs in the studios there.

So down to earth he is....Jewel of Team RD...Best part was he said that when RD passed away he felt the fear of what would happen next...Till then he was enjoying music as profession.
The interviewer was not able to take the best out of him as he could have shared some more interesting moments of RD.

It's amazing that musicians of R D Burman are individually famous. That speaks volumes of the group that was together to create some of the ever lasting music we got in Hindi film music.
He is the best and melodious musician for Nepali Music industry.

Despite the interview focused on Indian Music , we as Nepalese fan are really greatful for Guftaggo team to have Ranjit Gajmer who has such contribution in Nepalese music industry that cannot be described with any words ! We can guarantee that Nepalese film music will be almost a hole without his music and songs ! A true Legend - ”Music does not have any boundry or territory and Music does not need any language as itself is a Language ” !!!

Interview of an abstract artist, who kept on serving the masses through decades with soothing music & making the big musicians, bigger. The humility & simplicity of Shri Ranjit Gazmer, confirms that he deserves the name Kancha ( Or Kanchan - the GOLD) & is in purest form. Great things to be learnt from these true messengers. Shri Irfan was delighted throughout the interview, as evident.

Kanchha and Kanchan are not same meaning in Nepali terms.Kanchha meaning in Nepali is youngest brother or youngest son .

EXCELLENT!! Heart warming to know Ranjit Gazmer Ji n his significant contributions to music under RDBurman Sa'ab, Ravindra Jain Ji et al. It transported me to my teenage n early 20s years in the foothills of Darjeeling..enjoying the magical sounds of 'madal' used in Nepali songs. I remember how his name would crop up during talkathons with my Nepali classmates n friends circle while animatedly crooning "Kanchha re kanchha re.." (1971), "Hum dono do premi.." (1974) etc. RDB, the Genius, utilised Gazmer Ji 's talent brilliantly in Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Sholay, Ghar, Ajnabi n many many others.
Listening to Gazmer Ji recounting his journey is an experience I'll treasure for ever: genuine, straight from the heart, sparkling...
I'm however disappointed with Irfan Ji's interviewing style. An otherwise very competent n engaging interviewer, Irfan Ji failed here big time:lacking in soft skills, empathy n genuine interest in such a talented personality. I'm hurt.
Yes you’re right. The host’s approach towards the Legend is very disgusting…. He should have treated him with respect…
The closest term in Hindi for Kancha could be Chotu, but the term Kancha carries much more affection and love. It means the youngest son of the family.

I watched the interview completely... There is no reason but my eyes are filled with tears... People of this simplicity, this innocence, legendary musicians we will never see again. Kanacha re kancha re and the song hum dono do premi it was composed by Ranjit Gazmer but when he met RD burman he gave it throught taking some amount of money and later on name was written as composed by RD BURMAN... But we really know Ranjit Gazmer is not only musician he is also a legender composer....

सलाम रन्जीत सर को. पर एक बाद खटक गई. जीतने भी रन्जीत सर के कम्पोज किया हुवा गाने थे कभी भी कम्पोजर के रुप मे नाम नही आया. सब क्रेडिट पन्चम दा ले गए. नेपाली मे रन्जीत जी के गाने कालजई(evergreen) गाने हैं.

And Mr Gazmer has lived a soulful life. This is so readable towards the end of the interview when he says that he never realised how quickly the decades had passed thru his days at Pancham's studio.
The purity of soulfulness is again in evidence when he states that he may look old to others but doesn't feel so.
True creativity has it's foundations in humility and a child-like curiosity. These were in amply evident in this delightful interview. A most pleasurable share.

where are such ordinary yet wonderful, kind and extraordinary people today? humility, simplicity and immense thirst of creating brilliant music was the hallmark of artists of yesteryear. Kanchhabhai Gazmer is the only remnant living today... Manohari dada, Marutirao Keer ji and their ilk is now a legend. And the Don of all the artists, Pancham da is essentially undisputed king of Indian film music. thank God, they existed on earth to create immortal songs and make our lives worth living. Ranjit Hazmer sahab created an era in nepali music too besides creating some very special effects in Bollywood masterpiece songs. I have great respect for him. I remember one tune (dhun) in a hindi serial Ajnabi where Danny Denzongpa played one of the lead roles. The music of that serial is still alive in my ears. It was fantastic.
