Thank you for the coverage, it was a good round up of information. Daggerfall is one of my all time favorite games. I absolutely loved it, even with all of it's bugs. I am really hoping this game can come through with being a modern version of Daggerfall.
There are so many old veteran devs from big studios that work on theire own big projects for years and up until now I have not seen any really good game coming out of that. So I am not holding my breath.

I'm really glad to hear 3rd person will be developed. I enjoy ACTUAL gameplay in first person as much as anybody, but what's the point of awesome looking armors, weapons, and landscape if you can't draw back to visually enjoy your character in the world space? Seems like an ambitious endeavor. Even if it's "Dagger fall 2.0" with an upgraded technological experience, I'm all for it. The game master system/mechanics sound especially intriguing to me. Im a big fan of single player, 1st person perspective games. In this era of MMO's and online play, I really haven't found much to enjoy. And I haven't purchased a new console or computer in years because games haven't really interested me enough to invest time/money into them. "Quests nobody played" could be referring to the Daggerfall's daedric quests which you had to intentionally start through summoning and the different parts of the main story that you could pursue. Plus the random quests that may send you to one of the thousands of dungeons in the game or just send you to someone in town or in another. I installed the random starting dungeon mod for Daggerfall Unity and it really shows how different every playthrough can be
Thanks for the video, Wolf. I'm always happy to see another RPG in development, even if it's early days. The procedural aspect is interesting; It could he fantastic if they can pull it off. "every" doesn't include devs who suck at marketing and severely under promise or are like "eh its alright I guess" :D that said I agree that I'm pretty skeptical of procedural generation game a) being satisfying expereince outside of like dwarf fortress b) not buggy mess in this scale
Well yes and no. It's easy to hype yourself up too much but also the whole point of these trailers is to hype you up as much as possible. That's why I go for having cautious optimism.
People keep mentioning Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, but I enjoyed the previous Elder Scrolls game more, Arena. Why? One of the reasons was I loved the passwall spell, which was left out of Daggerfall.
Man as much as I want to be excited for this game because it seems it has everything a Open world RPG fan could ask for… based on alot of highly anticipated titles coming out being such a disappointment, I’m going to just assume the worst. Look at all these AAA games coming out half finished and bugged out like crazy. But I really hope it delivers, we’ll just have to wait and see.
7:11 Whereas many new studios may spew phrases like that, SOME actually deliver on their promises. Studios like inXile and Larian have brought some EXCELLENT isometric games with deep storytelling using a gameplay style long thought to be dead. I wouldn't sell Once Lost Games short, they have a ton of collective history within this genre but I think I'll hold off on my expectations and $. It might be Star Citizen or Atomic Heart and it might be Deus EX or Fallout 3. Hell, it might be another No Man's Sky which was supposedly HORRIBLE at launch but patched and updated to reportedly be a terrific game today - No way of knowing until(if?) it actually launches
Daggerfall was and still is my favourite of the series. Used to wake up at 5am to play it for 3hrs before going to school. I remember I kept my old PC just so I could play it throughout the early 00's. Great game. I hope this game lives up to even 1/10th of the joy I got out of Daggerfall.
I am cautiously hopeful! It is too ambitious for an indie studio but as long as it gets a proper release with enough elements of the intended vision, I will be looking forward to checking the game out! Thanks for the updates as always!
I hope the developers manage to bring us a good game. I remember when Valhain came out, with the same skins but a complete lack of quests and clear objectives, yet the player was content to explore and survive with friends and alone. I hope it will be a successful delivery even if it needs time to improve. These days a good plot and gameplay promise more than just good graphics.
This game looks so awesome. I think it would be a big success. Lot of the problems with interaction and/or team interactions could be due to Covid, working over Skype, and not being able to focus 100% on the tasks at hand. I know that many people in our company were not as able to produce as much, because they were at home -- trying to care of sick relatives, educating their kids, and (damn) being able to buy groceries & toilet paper was really hard during the last two years. So, I think that (hopefully) you can give them some slack and offer some forgiveness to how difficult it was to "be normal" during the last 2 years or so.
Thank you Poe, that was probably a huge contributing factor to the frustration Ian was feeling, but we did fix those problems, and overall have pretty good communication on the team. Just wanted to remind people that Ian left over a year and a half ago, and make it clear that it is not something that affects our productivity now.
Though I am really *not* hyped about the procedural huge world aspect, and refuse to even talk about this potential game until they show content, I must say I am impressed by this teaser! Well done on many levels: congrats to those who produced it.
Definitely sounds like a too good to be true scenario. With that said, unlike other similar projects of incredibly ambitious games by basically nobodies, this game is being developed by some very experienced developers who have basically done this before, albeit a long time ago and with significantly different tech and everything. So there's a chance this actually gets made and is good. Still, the industry has changed a ton since Daggerfall as did the player base.
I've grown to love wolfheart. I really appreciate that he gives honest opinions, and nothing but facts. I personally can't stand ppl with way too much energy adding in hype where it's not needed. I can't wait to see other games he talks about! Keep up that great work wolfheart!!
The concept is one that I have wanted to see in fantasy rpg's for a long time. Cyberpunk, however, reminded us that hyperbolic claims do not the actual end product make. I'll remain neutral with the slightest hint of curiosity. If they get to an actual release, I'll check out the reviews and go from there.
I really really really REALLY hope this game makes it out and gives every ambitious boon they plan on. This is the game I dreamed of playing as a small nerdy kid that first found a love for rpgs playing the original balders gate way way back.
It sounds really great, we'll see if it can live up to the expectations, I think I'll try it out. It may be to good to be true, but the again, I'm happy to give those people a shot.
Too early to really say much about it. The concept sounds fantastic and its something Im willing to back (especially if there is an option to create a monk/martial artist character :) ) but only time will tell. Glad its on my radar though
Unfortunately I’ve been too busy to catch the streams but still appreciate all the videos on rpgs, I’m excited for this game but I know it will be awhile before we can get our hands on it
How many people made NO MANS SKY ? Just curious....I am excited but in a wait and see attitude. Hope this game is everything they want it to be ! It’s a win for us and them !
With gamers, hope always springs eternal. Given the pedigree of the devs heading the studio, there is reason for optimism. Cautious optimism. The fact that there will be a 3rd person option definitely picqued my interest. Keep doing the good work bringing potential gems like this to light!
Great video as always 👌 Thank you for keeping us update with this game with all the information This game could really be special if the Dev’s manage to do it right But I can’t help feeling they may have bitten more off than they can chew especially with all the problems they had not to long ago with people leaving and so on Hope they prove me wrong and deliver a fantastic game
When you say this awesome looking project is possibly over reaching I think..... Look how ambitious Morrowind was, turned out to be the best game made to date
That was pretty thorough, with the info you had to work with. Great job! I'm really keeping my fingers crossed, because it looks like it could be pretty amazing! 🤘😁
Omg dude I've felt like the rpgs of today have kind of lost their touch. While today skyrim is my favorite game and it really deserves every commendation, it still doesn't have that...'lost art' that the old-school rpgs had. Like with the baldur's gate and planescape series...EVERYTHING in those games was great: the story, the characters, the world, the use of really interesting and really philosophical dialogue (which you don't see in video games these days anymore), the music, and the combat and the gameplay being challenging and extremely rewarding. I am definitely excited for the wayward realms and all the glory it may bring but I'm still not quite confident that they will bring back that 'old-school feel' those games had. We will see. It will feel good to get away from skyrim for a while tho when it comes out.
I am all for hype, I advocate for hype but the stories coming out from the dev team do make me worried. I still hope they can pull it off but don't get too too excited just yet, especially when we don't have actual gameplay. These trailers are designed to get hype brewing so they are willing to spend more money. Which is fine, but the audience should know that these trailers aren't actually what the devs have done it's what they want.
Kind of gives me vibes of old school conventions mixed with modern programming techniques and improvements to make those conventions more alive and less tedious. Both have their pros and cons. Old school quests are typically more mentally provocative, while modern quests are more streamlined, less thought-out mirrors of one another. Old school worlds either fall into tedious or more barebones due to tech restraints of the time. Whereas modern worlds are often more streamlined to casuals. Same with combat. Old school- too barebones but more intensive..modern- more fleshed out combat, but less intensive. Only comparison I can really make in regards to merging the two is soulsborne x daggerfall x the worlds of modern elder scrolls.
Great Video as usual Wolf, really excited for this game, I have faith that it will be an awesome game. Anyway, would love to have you do a lore video on wayward realms. Very interested in that. Thanks!
I think it sounds a bit like Dwarf Fortress Adventurer Mode. A procedurally generated world with a reactive simulation sandbox for the player. Other games like Mount and Blade have been pushing this sort of grand RPG system driven experience. This here project seems like an attempt to push the limits further than ever. Rly cool and solid ambition, let’s see if they can land the very challenging execution
I would love to play in such a massive open world but I hope they don't have a lot of of filler quests just to populate the expanse. Side quests hopefully have meaning/purpose rather than mere deliver this to so and so. Way too many RPGs already have useless quests. I will especially be interested in how they develop a uniform whole as it appears in game decisions have long term effects and consequences. If they can pull that off it should be monumental.
As long as MMO isn't anywhere near it, it's got my full interest. Edit: procedurally generated would be nice but only if it's procedurally generated then they go back over it. Like you said, could be very lackluster in certain areas and great in others. Also, procedurally generated could be a curse making people press new game till they got something they like.
I think will look aestetically old when will be relased, but also Kenshi and M&B looks old open world, still they other features some are great and some perfect with millions of player who love them i think they can do something of similar i wish best luck to them!
I am keeping an "eye" on it and will await future developments. After the Cyberpunk disappointment I am a little gun shy on what devs say it will be and what it actually turns out to be.
This game along with Fable 4 Dead Island 2 and VTMB2 are on my bucket list, i just hope they will actually see the light of day and not be canned like most people predict!
Can't believe I hadn't heard of this before! I'm pretty excited, honestly. Daggerfall had something that the Elder Scrolls somehow lost with time. Maybe it was these guys...
Very skeptical, it's descriptions basically describe every open world rpg. Procedurally generated things usually lead to lifeless and not very personal. Many NPCs usually mean most have nothing interesting to say or do. Ai game master could be interesting if it's smart enough, if not people will figure out it's patterns easily. This game has been in dev for a while and still no gameplay. So I'm hoping it be good but I'm very negative about it thus far.
wait did i understand that right? crossing the map in daggerfall takes over 60 hours??? that virtual game master stuff sounds interesting and yeah it really sounds to good to be true
Presentation of the new game: 1 video - blacked out. 2 videos - dark. 3 videos - twilight. 4 videos - night. 5 ... Instead of lighting, the player is asked to think of the textures, the image of the character and the battle scenes. Thanks for the applause.
i was intrigued by the title and thought the trailer looked ok but didnt really tell me anything about the game, so i thought no matter listen to the synopsis and work from there then you said the 2 words that instantly put me off a significant amount of games that are out these days "first person" i hate this perspective regardless of game type, that being said thank you for taking the time to put this video together for those that will appreciate it
Sounds possibly amazing, but of-course as-always just have to see how it all comes together. Devils always in the details if it even ultimately comes together. The insider drama is "disturbing". Only time will tell as always.
I like first person but I think a big part of RPGs is gear and fashion, this NEEDS a third person mode and if it's with customizable cameras even better.
I'm ready for a deep RPG that utilizes tech and advancements in open-world development to create a game that is procedurally generated and ISN'T a fcking Rogue-Like. I'm ready to get a fantasy world simulator built on a truly ambitious scale with respect for players that love table-tops and complex systems with a lot of options. This kind of game shouldn't be impossible to make, we've made similar games to it years ago, so with new advancements in technology should make this even more possible now than it ever was before.
The Wayward Realms? The definition of wayward is uncontrollable, capricious and depraved. Those are the kind of realms I'd want to adventure in ( but not settle down in).
As someone who loved Daggerfall, im very interested with this game. Also i wonder if they took some notes from No Mans Sky. To make the proceedrial generation easier on the memory.
Looks interesting, but don't like just 1st person view, hope that 3rd person will also be fully usable option. I do use both as 1st person is good in some cases (sneaking, sniping), but in absolute most cases I prefer 3rd person. I do like the idea of a massive open world, all for it, as long as there is also various placed in world to visit and check. Will keep an eye on this, definitely.
So it scares me and excites me in all the ways No Man Sky did. The game has so much potential IF... and that's a big IF it is done correctly. Procedural generation is very exciting but also very scary. All I can say is don't mess it up I really want this game to be good!
I am very interested but very cautious. Daggerfall was amazing but that doesn’t mean they will hit it out of the park again. Morrowind was great even though they started out with an excessively ambitious project (it was originally going to be the whole province of Morrowind not merely Vvardenfell). I hope it turns out to be everything it could be and doesn’t miss the mark.

that said I agree that I'm pretty skeptical of procedural generation game a) being satisfying expereince outside of like dwarf fortress b) not buggy mess in this scale
Well yes and no. It's easy to hype yourself up too much but also the whole point of these trailers is to hype you up as much as possible.
That's why I go for having cautious optimism.
I guess the question would be how good is the “underdeliver” 😎
not "every developer" but it should still be met with cautious optimism.
But I really hope it delivers, we’ll just have to wait and see.
what I hope for is that the ambition doesn't ruin it.
Im down with anything made by OG Morrowind team!..... Dammit, well daggerfall was cool too
I'm really looking forward to this!
You’re welcome thanks for watching Khaled!
2 player co op would probably be so cool in this game... as long as it doesnt get in the way of the single player gameplay
One of the very few games I'm exited for, even tho I'm not following this with eagle eye's but looking at the devs I think its in safe hands.
Cautiously optimistic.
Though I am really *not* hyped about the procedural huge world aspect, and refuse to even talk about this potential game until they show content, I must say I am impressed by this teaser! Well done on many levels: congrats to those who produced it.
I usually don’t get hyped about procedural generation myself but id love to see a new take on it. Thanks for always commenting Baraz!
The concept would be amazing. Make more of this IF they make progress.
Where do I sign for this one ?
I think the only thing we can currently do is wishlist it on steam.
Thanks a lot for the comment Nicholas!
We know people love unarmed/hand-to-hand combat, and so do we. 😉
Is there any hint of a general public release or even a beta?
Not yet, we are still pretty early in the project.
Thanks for the video, Wolf. I'm excited to see what will become of this game.
Thanks Fate!
I will definitely keep an eye on this - and I trust you to help me with that Wolf!!. I added it to my Steam wishlist. Good luck to the devs!
I got you Don! Thanks for watching
I'm so excited for so many RPGs coming out soon. This one included. So cool.
Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately I’ve been too busy to catch the streams but still appreciate all the videos on rpgs, I’m excited for this game but I know it will be awhile before we can get our hands on it
Understandable Silver. Hope all is well. Thanks as always for watching the vids!
Ok, I remember my oldest playing Daggerfall back in the mid-90's. I'll keep an eye for this.
I really hope it has 3rd person option
Yes, 1st person is the main focus, but we want to add in a 3rd person option for those who can't do 1st person.
Fantasy Citizen!
How many people made NO MANS SKY ? Just curious....I am excited but in a wait and see attitude. Hope this game is everything they want it to be ! It’s a win for us and them !
Great video Wolf, also looking forward to this title!
Thanks Enz
With gamers, hope always springs eternal. Given the pedigree of the devs heading the studio, there is reason for optimism. Cautious optimism. The fact that there will be a 3rd person option definitely picqued my interest. Keep doing the good work bringing potential gems like this to light!
Will do. Thanks for watching Cora!
Oh man, heard about this a few months back on ESO’s channel. He interviewed a dev. I’m hyped for this one
Great video as always 👌
Thank you for keeping us update with this game with all the information
This game could really be special if the Dev’s manage to do it right
But I can’t help feeling they may have bitten more off than they can chew
especially with all the problems they had not to long ago with people leaving and so on
Hope they prove me wrong and deliver a fantastic game
When you say this awesome looking project is possibly over reaching I think..... Look how ambitious Morrowind was, turned out to be the best game made to date
That was pretty thorough, with the info you had to work with. Great job! I'm really keeping my fingers crossed, because it looks like it could be pretty amazing! 🤘😁
Thanks for watching Chris!
@@WolfheartFPS of course! Thank you 🤗🤘
Of course I’d love to play this so I’m really rooting for em, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it never leaves development hell
Skeptical at best. Procedural generated experiences always suck. I'll believe it when I see it
Understandable
1st person cool, then i can mod it for vr
I'm interested to see where it goes. Seems like something that could be quite influential...
Hit us with that sweet sweet lore, Wolf
roger that
Carry on my Wayward realms
I am all for hype, I advocate for hype but the stories coming out from the dev team do make me worried. I still hope they can pull it off but don't get too too excited just yet, especially when we don't have actual gameplay.
These trailers are designed to get hype brewing so they are willing to spend more money. Which is fine, but the audience should know that these trailers aren't actually what the devs have done it's what they want.
WolfPack best Pack!
🍻 🍻
Thanks!
Thanks Michael! I will get on that lore video.
@@WolfheartFPS Your welcome! Thanks alot dude.
I hope this game lives up to the hype. Near infinite replayability
🍻
Wolf, your Editing skills are like a Mini game for me. I watch your content and I am content :D
😂 Love it Sesimie. Thanks
Yup because of the procedural generation the map is able to be wayyyyy bigger than a hand crafted map.
Presentation of the new game:
1 video - blacked out.
2 videos - dark.
3 videos - twilight.
4 videos - night.
5 ...
Instead of lighting, the player is asked to think of the textures, the image of the character and the battle scenes. Thanks for the applause.
I hope that it offer's more passiveistic things to do. I really hate the constant pew pew that is envolved in most games.
i was intrigued by the title and thought the trailer looked ok but didnt really tell me anything about the game, so i thought no matter listen to the synopsis and work from there then you said the 2 words that instantly put me off a significant amount of games that are out these days "first person" i hate this perspective regardless of game type, that being said thank you for taking the time to put this video together for those that will appreciate it
I'm super excited about this game. I'm very hopeful that it will be what thry say it will be.
I'm so excited, I have been waiting for this for so long
Pls be good and have VR support :)
Hope it all works out. Looks good.
Sounds possibly amazing, but of-course as-always just have to see how it all comes together. Devils always in the details if it even ultimately comes together. The insider drama is "disturbing". Only time will tell as always.
OnceLost recently commented on the “drama.” I pinned the comment if you would like to read it.
I like first person but I think a big part of RPGs is gear and fashion, this NEEDS a third person mode and if it's with customizable cameras even better.
They actually said it will have a 3rd person option so your good
@@WolfheartFPS that's great news then, thanks for the info. Cheers man, love your channel.
Trailer was hard AF
Interesting and ambitious!! Definitely on my radar now. Thanks for the heads up, Wolf!!
Thank you Max!
Same! Thanks Lorkhans
