  • I share how I built a dumbwaiter to move object between my garage floor and attic. It is a single pulley system, so is very simple to build. No more carrying bulky items up and down ladders.

This is a fantastic tutorial! I love that you covered why you did each element because it gives me things to consider with my own build using different tools & materials. Thank you!

I love this. Such a good idea. Looks like you had a good time doing this project too.

Excellent video and project! You explained your project, choices and techniques very well. I do have a simple suggestion that might improve the function. Since you are hauling your objects up by hand, perhaps a progress capture (like a Prusik loop knot) would make it safer/easier to haul heavy objects up. There are tons of videos on UA-cam about how to tie and use one. Anyway, thanks for sharing your project, I subscribed.

Dude!! I was dreaming of a dumb waiter since seeing The Watcher!! Why they ever stopped installing them is beyond me. I’m in my truck, freezing watching your vids love em all. Now… what say you on bringing back the “laundry chute? I had one as a kid in the bathroom, to the basement. Got to ride it both ways a few times. Was thinking it be great for the master of course, but after Riding or work coming in And tossing our wet gear or dirty coveralls down the chute from a mud room would make for less bitching if there’s a sig other, and much easier just all around

Yes, a laundry chute would be awesome! However, my house is on a concrete slab (no basement). So the dirty laundry would not fall very far.

Very through video; you could try double snatch block for actual mechanical advantage all you're doing now is redirecting your pull

Thank you for the suggestion. The amount of weight I lift is easily handled with one pulley. If I double snatch blocked it, my rope would be considerably longer and the platform would take twice as long to lift. Again, thanks
