While Disney hasn’t announced a sequel to Encanto yet, that doesn’t mean they aren’t still building on the world that surrounded the Madrigals. In fact, the House of Mouse has recently revealed Mirabel’s door to the world in a rather sneaky way, which is huge because not only does it mean that the once giftless Madrigal got a door at the end of the movie after all. But it also indicates that there was a reason behind Mirabel not receiving a door when she was younger, and after rewatching Encanto and going over some theories, it’s actually pretty clear what that reason was.

Actually, if everyone was getting a gift at five, then Mirabel being the next candle holder would explain why she didn’t get a gift when SHE was five. Being a candle holder and keeping the family together is not a child’s responsibility. It makes sense she wouldn’t get a door until she was older. That’s why I agree with the whole “staying in nursery until she gets better” point.
The problem is that nobody in-universe (except Bruno, who seemed to guess parts of it) seemed to have any idea about what Mirabel's future role was.
So she would have just felt inferior to the others.
Fortunately, she happened to have an upbeat and bubbly personality and managed to hide most of her pain until Abuela started gushing over Antonio after he got his gift.
Getting a new room that wasn’t magical but still hers when she was five years old wouldn't have solved everything, but she would at least have had her own personal space.
But now, Mirabel had to be roomies with a ten years younger cousin and feel awful when even he could leave the nursery while she couldn't even though she was a teenager.
(Admittedly, it is true that the nursery was her room before Antonio was born and became her room again for one night after he got his new room, but still, yikes...)
of course mirabel got a door...when casita was created Abuela got a door even though she doesnt possess any powers...she was the original heart of the family... When the doorknob made by everyone was put into the door by Mirabel it stands to reason that the doorknob and Mirabel became the new heart just as Abuela and the candle were previously

I’ve felt the same way. All through the film I wondered, why the house was being so helpful to Mirabel. Much more to her than to other family members. Finally, when we got our first glimpse into one of the family rooms, it occurred to me, the whole house was Mirabel’s room and the front door was her door.

My theory is that she did get a gift. She received the gift of wisdom. She was the one character that casita responded to, and did you notice that casita only fell apart when Mirabel had her breakdown? Maybe, her gift was to keep her family together.
I was just thinking that the whole house was her room. And you’re so right- the casita responds and interacts with Mirabel through the entire movie like it’s it’s own character.
And eventually grandma won’t be here so there needs to be a new candle bearer. Makes so much sense
@@silverhoney6969 That's exactly what I was thinking too. So, her gift was literally holding the family together. When Mirabel has her breakdown, it literally splits the family and that is what makes Casita fall apart.

Look at Mirabel's dress, it symbolize her family. Everyone's outfit represents their power. At the end of the movie, I thought the front door is her door since she will fill in her grandmother's role in the family.

She is the only one except Abuela to have a butterfly motif on her clothes.
But you can see that she also sewed symbols for Abuela and her magical family members (except Bruno, because he wasn't really with the family at the time) on her skirt.

Actually it was implied that Mirable herself made her dress, adding all elements that represented each member or her family, if you see her past room she had a sewing in her room. It was like since she had no special element of her own, she made her family being what was special to her.

Well, there would definitely be a sewing machine, obviously. Maybe a therapy couch. Lots of pillows. Books on psychology. Books on each of her family members talents, so she can relate to them. Each time a member gets a talent- new books! Lots of comfort items, maybe blocks and other things that therapists keep. Soft lighting. And of course a cushy bed. Maybe even a child sized bed so the kid closest to getting their talent can spend some time in the year leading up to it being coached on how they want to use their new power. Because it’s for them.

And a wall, covered in portraits of the family, individual and group pictures in an eclectic mix of frames. And when a new family member arrives their portrait is magically added to the wall
I really love the theory about Mirabel being the next candle holder and I feel like it makes sense as to why she didn’t get a gift. it’s also really interesting to think about that room being hers and she would be there to care for the next family member before they would get their gift.I know her room would have sewing supplies and maybe butterfly decorations
FINALLY!! But can we talk about the butterflies that support this? The song that was played during Abuela's backstory was "Two Caterpillars". After she received the magic she wore a shawl that had butterflies on it. Casita had bricks in the kitchen (& other places, I'm sure) with butterflies. And Maribelle's outfit had the most vibrant butterflies, that she put there, all over it. Also, the transition, or "metamorphosis" was sort of officiated in front of a butterfly...
It looked like Abuela was the caterpillar stage of Casita and the family, the movie was the crystalis stage, and Maribelle, moving forward, is the butterfly stage...
New theory... the doors didn't show the gifts and powers as much as Abelas expectations for everyone... and it was ABUELAS doubts and fears possibly that her favorite would fail, because it seems they had a close bond before... whereas the new house the doors are still forming because Mirabel doesn't have expectations for her family, so the family can define their own door...
She's the new magic candle. That makes so much more sense. Exactly what she was to them. The guide n support to keep them all going. Her magic was truly in her love n compassion the whole time. I love that

I always felt that Mirabel didn't get a gift because she was meant to be the next matriarch of the family. Like Mirabel, Abuela doesn't have magic of her own either. She went through hard times, and had to face difficult things, which gave her the strength she needed to lead her family. It always seemed obvious to me (like from 10 minutes into the movie), the mirabel was like her grandmother. Casita gave each child what would allow them to help most, but the way Mirabel could help most didn't involve magic, it involved resilience, love, and determination. And in the end, just like Abuela, Mirabel brings magic to the family.
Plus, Mirabel has a much stronger relationship with Casita after growing up in the nursery, while her siblings grew up in magical rooms where Casita couldn't 'enter'
I'm still so glad that Mirabel got a door and room of her own. I always liked that theory that one day Mirabel will be the next Candle Keeper and take Abuela's place of head of the Castia.
Still what her room will look like I believe will reflect to who Mirabel is, just herself. It doesn't have to be fancy after all. I can see that the room will almost resemble the nursery but different, plus I can see her with her crafts being in the room, along with a sewing machine, threads, fabrics and needles. Cause after all, she may not had a special power talent at the time but she was great at making crafts like the stuffed Jaguar she made for Antonio. I think she can make more of her crafts to show people how much she means to them and to eachother.
After watching Encanto it was pretty clear to me that mirabels door was unnessecary because she was connected to the whole house. It makes sense because the house reacts to her emotions very much and after seeing this I knew the house wanted her to be the heir of her grandmother's gift with only one difference: she is not the candle keeper but the candle itself. The door too makes that clear, she doesn't need a candle, abuela thought she is special because she got the candle but mirabel is special because she is who she is and shines without anything else. And that is what makes the movie so touching in first place.

I believe that Encanto be one of the perfect world’s for Kingdom hearts 4 Does anyone else agree with me? Just think of it, Bruno can predict the future and he can predict Sora future that will be even more epic and just imagine epic and could get his Sora his own door in the manor

Her room.. I think she would have a craft section. The room will be very colorful as it will be the colors of current and future members of the family. In the way the room will be the heart of Casita and girl and house will have a strong bond.
Mirabel was also the only one who communicated with the house.. like full conversations 😌

Mirabel is the one to take care of the candle after her grandmother is gone, that's why she didn't get any powers, she's the one that's going to keep the tradition going for the future family members
We will probably see Mirabel's door in the mini Casita in Disney Dreamlight Valley, once update 3 Festival of Friendship got released on the 16th of this month.
Have you noticed in the movie, when young Mirabel touched the candle and wiped her hands on her dress, what if she accidentally wiped away the magic off her hands? I know that’s clearly not the case but, it’s just a theory!
I think developers confirmed thats not the case but I could be wrong, I still like that theory tho
The director already addressed that theory to be false. You're not the only one to come up with this one.

I think that she stored it in herself then, which is why Casita came back when she finished building the house with the doorknob. She had kept the raw magic in herself.
Mirabel has a deeper connection to the Castia than other members of her family. All her needs have always been met. This house may change to meet her needs and moods. It may be full of gold butterflies.
The beams of light were coming from Mirabel herself. Mirabel is the light in the darkness for her family.
Interesting that Casita only let everyone else in after Mirabel invited them.
I always thought Mirabels power would be creation because when everyone lost their power they still did activities related to their power (Isabella gardens and loisa exercised). Mirabel is very crafty (decorating her skirt and creating those candle doiles) so I thought that might be her power!
I think she became the candle. She didn’t get her power or door until the candle died and transferred the power to her. She was holding it when it went out as well.

In my fan theories, Mirabel would’ve gotten super vision, to c things farther away as it seems that all their gifts r extensions of who they r, but not of all of themselves. And if Bruno had kids, 1 would’ve had visions of the past and presences, and another would b a necromancer of able to c and hear ghosts to even summon them from beyond the grave. Like Abuela’s husband for visits.
I hope for one thing in the possible next Encanto movie. The return of the Spanish Inquisition. They were funny in the Monty Python sketch, so that should apply here too, right? It doesn’t need to be long. They can just show up and ten seconds later get crushed by an anvil or something.
I think everyone assumes she will take on the role of candle bearer but I think she controls time & movement in the movie. She's been doing it since she was 5 so she would think it normal for her to live in a musical when it's not. No door can help you with a power like that & in fact would make it worse.
Right the idea that she will be a candle holder is kinda dull cuz it'd include a time skip so completely new characters not awnsering any questions we have and there's not much to it

@@kozumekenma9157 think about how she effects the world around her, what if eventually her powers grow beyond just being in the moment start to flow into the timeline. We see at certain points in the movie when literally stops time & is basically in every song. She is also the only one noticing/reacting to the music & dancing, even commenting on it a few times.
As the family grows, so too do their powers. The rooms are meant to nurture that power & focus it safely. Her powers on the other hand may be too much for the house & might have caused the initial breaking of the house. So if her powers were too much for the house it's possible either the house couldn't because her ability is too abstract or her potential was great.

A great idea for a part two would-be abuela passing on and Mirabel taking her place and one of mirabelle's children is like her, born with no magical power. And how they handle that.

I always thought she got the door to the house itself. While it wasn't called a "power" she be more then anyone else was shown to have the closest connection to the house as a whole more than anyone else.
You know my only explanation of this is that, her door or room is LITERALLY THE WHOLE HOUSE. She's the next house keeper. She OWNS the whole house. that's her "room"

I am pretty sure her image on the door on the Christmas tree is just the same image of her on the front door of the rebuild casita but without the rest of the family. Just so the ornaments all had the same size and similar styles so that everyone is represented on their own. Not saying she didn't get a door to a room of her own, she probably did, but that door design is literally nothing new, it's just the same image from the new front door.

I agree with this full heartedly. I think things like candles, books, butterflies, an symbols of her family will be in her room. I think it would also grow so that when new members were added to the family there would be symbols of their gifts as well.

Another thing to note is the butterfly on her chest which is symbolic with the song at the end.
I agree with her being the new candle. I also theorise she is the next stage in the development of power spreading to the whole community.
She obviously has a strong bond with her family, but she also has a stronger bond to the entire community.
She brings everyone in the family back together, and she also made a way for the family and the community to become united.
Love Abuela, but Abuela had the perspective the community should look up to the family, whereas Mirabel went and mingled with the community and told them about the family.
I think Mirabel's gift was in preserving the gifts already given, and teaching them to open up, explore and embrace their gifts no matter how dark, but also to share the gift with the wider community.
I also wonder why casita couldn't help Mirabel when she was behind the walls and looking for Bruno?

Or it could just be that they made the ornaments to match a central gimmick of the movie, thus also theming hers to resemble theirs. It would be extremely odd to not do so. People look way to deeply into this kind of thing.
This movie does not need a sequel. What would be the story since everything was nicely resolved? There's really only one semi reasonable plot I can think of, and even that scenario is unlikely given the circumstances.
My theory is that mirabel's power is actually the house Casita. It caught my eye when Casita was more friendly to her

I always considered the house to be mirabelle's power and her purpose is to be the glue that keeps her family.
I kinda guessed that bc if you look at the patterns on the clothes of the madrigals, you can see that they have symbols that indicate their gifts. Like Delores and the sound waves on her dress, Mirabel had butterflies on her dress that matched the butterflies on the candle. Thus making Mirabel the new source of the magic.
Yes irt was the big door people:) She may have gotten a door inside too but her door is the front door and the house:)
I'd like to think Mirabel's room adjusts itself for whoever Mirabel is helping

am hoping to see her bond more with her sisters and playing with Antonio, and seeing how they find out she the new lights in the family.
Also she was more in tune with casita, she was the one who spoke to it most as if it was another family member. Alma is only seen to order casita around.
Considering that you said Mirabel was the new candle of the Madrigal family producing new light and color. I'd say we might see color and light behind her new door, and perhaps butterflies cause each Madrigal family member has unique designs on their outfits depending on their gift, like Mirabel has butterflies all over her dress representing hope and transformation
Mirabel was her own candle. She literally has a candle on her dress n butterflies. Her magic was conflicting with Abuelas candle thats why it was cracking. Abuela even said the cracking started happening when Maribel turned 5 after her ceremony.
mirabel even made a stuffed jaguar toy for antonio before he even got his gift. she knew exactly what his gift was to be, which meant she had a power. but i agree with a lot of the other comments, she's the heart of casita. and her name is similar to the word miracle, therefore her gift was being the miracle that kept the family together and made them whole and not focused on just their gifts.
mirabel means "of wondrous beauty"
luisa means "renowned warrior"
isabella means "god is my oath"
it'd take too long to look up all of the names and the meanings, but those are the first three i found.
also having her added into dreamlight valley complete with a mini casita of her own....makes complete sense that her gift is magic and love.

I have a idea why Mirabel didn’t initially get a gift, consider how she after touching the candle, wiped her hands on her dress, then touched the door. This may elude to her outfit being symbolic of how she is destined to be quote unquote ‘humbler’ than her family and realise the issues they have and help them better themselves.

My theory is she recieved a gift but it vanished like how the other family members gift vanished because their family was falling apart and the cracks were especially bad when mirabel was around 5 and brunos insight and the grandmas worried nature of her not getting a gift rather then her was why it was gone but witj the family back together i feel like her gift might return

This isn’t about Mirabels door or anything, but actually not all of the doors were shown in the end credits. Camilos door was missing along with Mirabels, though you kind of cleared that up here. Sorry, I just felt like it might be important information to know…
when i first saw this film my theory was that mirabel did get a gift but it was the gift of the embodiment of the magic. which is why in bruno's vision she both looked like she destroyed but rebuilt the casseta. which true enough she did.
when abuella (the keeper of the magic candle) and mirabel (the born embodiment of the magic candle) finally broke apart the magic died. but mirabel's gift was to her true self that she would grow into as a person. and as the new embodiment she will take up the torch after abuella to carry the magical flame into the next generations after shes gone. and gerenteeing that should anything happen to the candle, mirabel can fix it with her gift coz that is what mirabel did for the familly, she fixed what was wrong with theier perception of there gifts, and the magic itself. allowing them to grow new roots, find new strengths, speak their inner vioce and fine the sunshine in the grey clouds.

MY theory was that Mirabel touched her dress after touching the candle, hence, wiping away the magic that gave her a door. But after that, the casita felt bad and made the WHOLE HOUSE her room, well, kinda. Because at the end she brought back casita’s magic by putting in the doorknob. Another theory I have is that she is the next holder for the candle, after Abuela. Abuela also didn’t get a gift after the candle was created, and if you didn’t notice, each of the family members’ outfits represent their powers, and Mirabel’s dress has all the power symbols. So Mirabel got the power of wisdom to hold the family together. Also because the casita only fell apart after Mirabel’s breakdown from fighting with Abuela. Abuela also had the same power but it was not so effective. Btw these are ONLY THEORIES!!! So I can’t guarantee it’s real.
I would love to see a new condo too and see what Maribel's powers are if she has it I hope she does cuz I believe her greatest car is she has any is compassion

To be honest, I agree with your first comment right now that Abuela
doesn’t have a power. Neither does Mirabel,so mirabel will become the next candle holder or the main part of the Cassata.
I kind of figured that out in the movie.
I wish I could go back to Disney world to see Mirabel I want to tell her that she's the one of my favorites because the symbols on her clothes are usually butterflies and I want to tell her that sometimes butterflies made me thought of fairies but only know for sure is that fairies live in the wild life and they are very shy humanoid creatures and I want to tell her that I want to see a fairy before I passed away an old woman and I also want to tell Mirabel that if I were the part of her family and if I ever had a gift I would either make drawings come to life control water or turn invisible those would be my three choices though are sometimes I wish I could talk to animals like her little cousin Antonio I especially like to talk to puppies and kittens because mostly I really wanted a chitin so badly and if we could ever understand that little sweetheart I would be able to become its very best friend mostly my favorite animal is a cat anyway I feel like sometimes that Mirabel and Antonio had a connection to each other sister the only two cousins that are the third-born children on each side of the family Mirabel is the youngest child of julieta and Antonio is the youngest child of Pepa still I don't blame Mirabel for being like an outsider kind of person but I really would like it if she were the part of my family but then she'd be lonely without her own her two older sisters Isabela the eldest I guess I don't blame her either she's sick and tired of being perfect and she decided to change her new ways of nature and everything and the second oldest it's mostly the biggest even if she is the middle child Luiza is the strongest bullets really strong about her is her heart she may be the second sister on Mirabel's side of the family but she reminds me of my older sister because she felt the exact same way as Luiza because since she'd do anything for Mirabel my sister would do anything for me too!
Mirabel does have a power, and we all saw it in the movie, her power was to make others work out their problems by making a dance and sing musical style.

Casita doesnt seem to be able to act within each child'ss rooms. Since mirabel grew up in the nursery, never separated from Casita, she has a much stronger bond with the magical house than the rest of her family 🤷♀️

Tbh My idea was that she did not get a door as the whole house is hers. Afterall she seems to be in sync with the house and it cares for her more than for anyone.
The 'Light streaks are coming from Mirables front as well in her door design. Like, just look at her bottom half and you see several light streaks that are in front of her.
Also, there is nothing indicating that on Abuelas door the light streaks are coming from "behind the candle". They never come close enough to the candle to make that assessment.
Heck, they also don't come close enough to Abuela herself, so it might be coming from behind her or in front of her.
The only thing that could really be said is that both doors resemble each other with those "light streaks" radiating from the center and that's it.
Which makes sense because they're fulfilling a similar role, being the "Keeper of the Miracle". Which is the same thing you said, but your assessment of what the streaks are in front of or behind of is simply false if you just look at the images.
From other theorys I have heard. Some people have said that she may be the next matriarch/ candle holder.
There can be serval theories as to why Mirabel didn't get her gift at 5. Could've been that she was going to have a completely different one originally but the state of the magic might have been already weakening. Or it could be that she was chosen to be the new bearer of magic, we would need more details to be certain.
I think it'd be a craft/bedroom, a cross between those two.
My theory on why mirabledidnt get her maguc was because,when she was about to get her gift she held the candle and then dusted her self. So there is a possibility that she dusted the magic off from her hand .

basically she is the "doorknob of the family" not the candle one but the doorknob. she is the important one. she open and close, fix the family problems and etc. and that's why "she is perfect" to hold a doorknob..
I think when Abuela passes and Mirabel becomes the new candle holder, her door will change to her holding the candle.

Mirabelle's gift is the ability to just be herself while the others are forced to be something they are not.

If they do a sequel I would like to see Mirabel’s family surprise her with her own room they made for her like they do at the end of the novel adaptation. Along with a door that resembles the one with her image on the Encanto tree at Disney Springs.
Also, I feel like Encanto 2 oughta involve Mirabel traveling to the possible birthplace of the magic to find out why she was denied a power.

I wonder if Mirabel what's something have children of her own who has their own unique powers I can picture her having a son named Eduardo and his power is invisibility the second child she has is Rosa and she has the power to control water and last but not least Maria and her gift is to make her drawings and paintings come to life with her magic art kits let's just say like Elsa Maria couldn't control her powers Maria try to conceal her powers of her art challenge like when Elsa was trying to conceal her powers of ice and snow to keep everyone safe and it's up to Mirabel her mother to help her youngest daughter try to control her powers better just like when Anna was trying to help Elsa learn to control her powers in the sequel let's just say that Mirabel and Maria would have some help from Eduardo and Rosa I mean Eduardo has invisibility and Rosa has the power to control water and then at the end Maria finally figured out how to make her powers stop being alive again with the help of her great-uncle Bruno Maria had to be brave enough to confront her magic of creativity and let's just say it's like in Frozen when one of her creations was trying to hit Mirabel Maria got hit instead just like when Anna sacrifice herself to save Elsa in Frozen but the fact is Maria wasn't hit but she used the tap of her pen to stop one of her creations from hitting her mother then she realized with just a tap of her pen Maria would be able to make her creations disappear and back into the drawings with another tap that will come back to life with another tap let's just say it is only temporary that would make a great story for the sequel of Encanto would it not?
I did see the door! I was sending pictures to all my friends that she got the door.
I thought her powers were connected with controlling the casita. It responds to her emotions and listens to her requests. She is the keeper of the casita, therefore she doesnt need a door. The whole house is 'hers'.
Does anyone else control the house, like the actual house? I can't remember. XD
