Jason heads south to Oklahoma to try bowhunting whitetails DIY during the peak of the rut in early November. We pick back up on the hunt to fill Jasons second buck tag.
:) indiana here, when they`ve looked hard my way, and walk away in that high foot jerky step motion with 1 or both ears back instead of paying more attention to where they`re goin , yesss they know. i have a big mature halo buck too that overlaps now. views, oh yes part of bein in flatter grounds is we get to see the sun crack and leave the horizons and there1s almost always colors with it, far more to huntin than killin. thanks for sharin.
Makes me want to get back out and whitetail hunt. Just not keen on climbing trees at my age. I sat in trees from the age of about 8 to around 16 and then dad too me to Wyoming Mule deer and elk hunting and it ruined me on whitetail and never hunted them again. It’s a fun a sport. What I miss the most is just being in the stand away from society and all the cool things you see and hear. The geese always always noise. Bobcats, coyote and squirrels! Fun to watch you experience it and connect on a couple nice ones. That halo buck was a super cool buck. You’re having one helluva winter up yonder. Great snowpack ….good thing!
Great deer and great production value! I’ve been watching your channel for a few years now and I appreciate how much you appreciate your surroundings and what god has to offer. Good stuff, man.
Seeing that bobcat do its thing and act like a housecat 🐱 in ways was so freaking cool 😎. So was getting that last day triple brow buck. 🦌 Got to love bucks with character. I like watching hardcore western guys get just as pumped succeeding in the whitetail 🦌 woods 🌲🌳
Oklahoma heart shot ....oh well if you hunt long enough it happens and I've had it happen to me . The nice thing is dead is dead . Nice bucks keep at it 👍👍👍
Howdy Jason. Well you got one heck of a whitetail buck. I'm not sure how to describe the right side. Are those brow times another beam with kickers. Anyway, you had the chance to think back and enjoy your ride home! Thank you Sir! Later on Jason.....
Nice to see you step out of your element “MT” and succeed! Love your content and the way you show it as it is! Both bucks of this series are trophies in their own right! Congrats
Wouldn't call this type of hunting stepping out of the element for mt, MT has some of the best white tail hunting in the country, I dont even mess with the mule deer here.
There are a lot of broadside purists who only take the ideal shot. But if you hunt brush/non ideal conditions you have to take what you can get. In my experience straight up the back side works as good as any other angle with a rifle. Never tried with a bow... Video makes me want to look for a lease in the mid-west also.
Thanks for sharing your view of Oklahoma whitetails, for me one of your greatest productions! Can you share some info on what made him spook before he circled and came back in? You hammered him when he did! Nice work!
It was def further back that I thought in the moment. It wasn’t until we watched the video did I realize I didn’t hit exactly where I wanted. Either way he didn’t go far and that’s all I could ask for.
@@jamesluke5910 assume he was attempting to slip it behind last rib and in front of hip, unfortunately pulled it low/right. Could have gotten lucky and hit femoral artery.
@@jamesluke5910 it wasn’t what I thought in the moment that’s for sure. I’d have cried if he wasn’t laying right there, but he was! Incredible experience in a pretty special part of the country. Thank you for watching.
@@Randy_Savage_ohyeah that’s the shot angle I was going for you’re right on. Unfortunately my shot was not. Thankfully the arrow did the trick and he was right there.
A hard quartering away angle is a western thing? I was taught that to be a great shot angle as a kid. Either way, the deer didn't go anywhere even though I did hit slightly off where I intended. I have been documenting hunting before Instagram or Facebook was even a thing so that is not a very valid statement. Thank you for sharing your opinion though and best of luck this season!
Definitely was further right than I wanted. I’m the moment I thought I’d drilled him. It wasn’t until watching the footage did I realize it was further back. Either way, he didn’t make it far which is all I could ask for. Thank you for watching.
Nice one! Congrats! I hunted Montana for the first time in 2022... your videos were a huge reason why. I'll be back!
I’m glad I could inspire you enough to make it happen. There’s no other way of life like it.

Passing up on the earlier buck certainly paid off! Congratulations!
It sure did. I was starting to wonder, haha.

Nothin like the old Texas heart shot

He spooked from me trying to draw my bow. He caught movement but didn't know exactly what it was.
@@jasonmatzingerofficial Thanks for the insight, not easy to hold the adrenaline for the final shot, great buck and great memory! All the best!
Great work. Cameraman laid it down
Thank you!
99.9% of bow hunters would NOT feel good about that shot. Just sayin..

🤣🤣🤣 I would have cried if I watched that back on film! Glad you found him. No idea how that killed him where you could find him

Who sings that opening song on this video?? Love it but cannot find it
It’s called ‘Live By The Gun’ by El Wencho.
What's the name of the song is in the intro? It is amazing, I wanna listen to it when I'm shooting 3d tournaments.

A little low? That's a Texas Heart Shot bud....
Yessir. Thank you for watching!
@Jason Matzinger subscribed too 🤣
what in the hell was that shot angle? then saying "I just buried that" just another westie doing it for the gram.

Public land?
This was on private ground.
@@jasonmatzingerofficial thank you. I’m thinking of going out there and was hoping it was like this on public land. Great bucks btw
Thank you! Best of luck out there if you make it out. I really enjoyed my time there.
