I've already seen him 13 times and I'm a 48 year old head who saw Garcia with the dead 16 times. This kid is like the rebirth of the head lifestyle. We need Billy Strings right now. Trippy chords with his now 5 instrument set-up? ALWAYS sound great to me!!!
Actually I am going to see Billy Strings in a couple weeks and the reason I fell under Billy’s influence, because of the Grateful Dead, UA-cam kept suggesting Billy Strings all the time last June and July 2023, in August I saw Wharf Rat by Billy and clicked immediately, I am an old deadhead, since I was 12 in 1967. I feel like I am going to a Dead show, my brain has linked Billy Strings to the Grateful Dead forever and Bob Dylan, who we are seeing at the Outlaw Festival at the Gorge, I am so excited to see Willie Nelson for the first time & BMFS!!!!
Sounded better then the original band ,i no he loves the dead, he will play with anyone its a gift he has and hes embracing it right now, and its his time to really enjoy these years it only comes around once.
pretty good... and i don't want to sound discouraging here but this has been going on for at LEAST 30 years that i can remember ... i guess I'm glad they are making it work and continuing to carry on the music (and live real music in general!!) but this is nothing above or beyond what has existed for a LONG time, ...in parking lots, college dorms, basements, small regional club scenes, etc etc... again this is not a criticism, just an observation. (truly) I LOVE LIVE MUSIC played by MUSICIANS who have feeling... and those in this Utube clip do indeed have IT... and i LOVE that they are keeping musical weekends going... keep it up ..! ! ! ...but don't forget to reach further...
That's actually the point. I've played bluegrass/old country jams in Kentucky where the musicians pull out Dead songs and we just go around the circle surfing the wave of a musical conversation. It's simple and complex music. And it's accessible. Cold Rain and Snow is just two chords and the difference between the way the Dead played it and Tony Rice played it is the order of the chords (which effects what key it's in so you have to check with the banjo player).
@Mike Kelly Hey Mike, it had to be said. But to his credit, he at least recorded it in landscape....so many potentially great vid's are ruined because they were done in vertical....and yes, i bust their chops big time for doing it.....
@@ZacTexC Alas, i have seen them....and will see them again in November.... I saw them in 2018, prolly before most jumped on the bandwagon.... And i ain't hating on the videographer....just dishing out some constructive criticism, which hopefully will result in a better final product next time...
Do you guys even know the meaning of this song about Neal Cassidy, the driver of the bus? If you did, you'd be like, why are people cashing in playing grateful dead cover songs after the dead horse got beat a LONG LONG LONG time ago? We got tired of the Grateful Dead playing Grateful Dead with Jerry. The Grateful Dead scene will NEVER have anything to do with what it once was. It used to actually MEAN something when we had a puff circle at 4:20 at the panhandle park in San Francisco. It was a spiritual event, which included the possibility of getting busted for herb and going to jail. You could show up broke with no herb, and get in on the circle. AND NOW? It's a circle passing a syringe of fentanyl while everyone plays with their I-phone, meanwhile hoping maybe someone would just happen to be impressed with their tattoos that got made instead of being honest and paying people back money owed......
Phish sucks? Seriously? And so Billy Strings is better playing GD cover tunes? Billy is OVERATED as hell. I wouldn't even say he sucks like you say about Phish, but MAN! There are SO MANY Grateful Dead cover bands for YEARS that are so much better than Billy Strings and the non-stop jamming up our asses from the internet. How do you block Billy Strings videos? I'm tired of being bombarded. It's like a phone salesman that has your number and won't stop calling you to sell you something you absolutely do not want. Go away, Billy Strings! There's nothing new here, and you're not doing Jerry or Doc ANY tribute at all. (Who would YOU rather see live? Billy, or Doc Watson or Jerrry Garcia?). As if I'm even going to waste my time listening to it. Yet every time I go to youtube, there it is again!
6:58 I get chills. That and the beginning just had me emotional it’s so awesome
Billy Strings has taken over. He now represents the grateful dead. Probly have people on “ Billy tour”.

Is this song about Neal Cassidy of 'On The Road', and 'Merry Prankster' fame?
Partly…. It’s also about Cassidy Law, Eileen’s daughter who was an infant when it was penned
Dang he smokes the guitar.. 🎶⚡💀👉😁
shit man that roc's
Ohio grown! But he’s from West Michigan!!!!!!!!!!🎉
Hate to be a ninny, but sure wish you woulda panned out more to show the rest of the band..................

Don’t hate the videographer or be there for yourself. If you haven’t seen the band then you ain’t a Billy fan

@Mike Kelly 😁😆
I feel like the banjo player didn't get a chance to lead

Your entitled to your opinion. My opinion is I’m glad there is one less person competing for tickets to see Billy😂
