Allman Brothers Blues Band from the first day Duane and Dicky started training licks and the whole of the ABBB carried us beyond state lines and time signatures. they really were music for all the people. Blues Jazz Rock Jam and it was fantastic!
And even the classic, which this certainly is. This is the music I literally grey up on, and have never stopped loving it. I've played drums and sang backup/lead vocals in several (cover) bands and the feeling cannot be matched! Once you ever experience the (almost spiritual) connection to other band members, while playing at peak and just through the instruments, you never lose it....and kinda crave it. Shit's like a drug, lol! When Betts turned around and laughed towards the end of one of Billy's killer guitar improvisations, he was experiencing that high.... hell they all probably were. There's a recent UA-cam video of Billy playing two Grateful Dead songs live on stage, and it kicks ass. PS, I'd provide a link, but I'm an old fart (55)😆

I first saw Billy in maybe 2014 and was blown away. I honestly I think he’s going to develop into the greatest guitar player off all time. I’ve never seen dexterity like this. Just 🤯. There is just so much love ❤️on this stage,
He is a wonderful person. We were lucky enough to get to know him here on our local scene also in 2014. He played our wedding. And our reception. And within days he was off to literal (much deserved) fame and fortune. He overflows with THAT THING. You can't teach it and you certainly can't fake it. But when you know, you know.

There had not been anyone like Billy come around in a long time. He elevates anyone he accompanies.. When he was invited to be the new member of Billy and the Kids, he not only added to the already great sound.. he brought with him a NEW ROBERT HUNTER SONG “ Thunder”. The music business really needed Billy Strings to show up to play. He really made these guys sound better too..
He’s not really famous. Ask any one in Nashville or any where else who Billy is and 9/10 won’t have a clue. He is only known in the tiny tiny bluegrass world and the tiny irrelevant jam band scene. He is being ruined by Nashville handlers. It’s sad billy doesn’t know who he is and it’s sad to see him go down the path of heavy drugs. His electric playing is average at best and his vocals are a direct rip of of another fake southerner, Dan tamynski.
RESPECT, they respect each other and know that together they make great music. I grew up in the radio business playing southern rock in the 70's, it's in safe hands today.
Years ago been there saw that. Jam sessions the south was about. And playing their father father's songs, even though their fathers had a falling out. That fact I love.

I saw the Allman Betts Band at the Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon in 2018. Definitely one of the best live shows I've ever experienced. Wonderful music and showmanship from start to finish. Billy Strings fits right into that groove. What a treat to see them play together and be able to enjoy it online. Gawd I would love to see this gang in person!!!
Boy, the way they are winding these leads together is magic, especially live. Not just chorusing an octave up, but just weaving different, complementary approaches together. Its like sex, only better!
Fun to see Billy respond to the crowd. They give to him, he gives back double. Was a little strange to see him on electric for my first time. Nobody calling him “Judas” like they did Dylan at Newport.
