We bought our Corolla from a guy who'd 'rebuilt' the suspension had to buy a part at O'Reilly's to get the castle nut that was 'missing' after the test drive. It was clunking after a few months and we took it to our mechanic (who does sell cars occasionally). Our mechanic who is Hispanic came out to my wife white as a sheet, asked her sheepishly "We didn't sell you this car, did we?" She answered "No." He breathed a sigh of relief, told her ALL of the bolts were loose. Charged her $80 for the labor to make it roadworthy again.
Shocking on the missing bolts, I am at the 10 min mark, noticed those missing bolts and jumped down to the comments...so I know you found them and more. Thank God you were not hurt driving it. Keep up the great work...Wayne, PA

How odd so many were loose. Maybe two mechanics were working on it and they thought the other had finished tightening it. Good job catching it. Looking forward to the exhaust upgrade video if you go that route.

So many bad mechanics man. Same thing happened to my pride and joy recently, I have a Golf Mk3 and I took it to the mechanic recently to have it checked out cause it was rattling and stuff and he first took it for an absolute joyride with me in the passenger seat and called me 1hr later to tell me he noted everything down whats wrong and that he isn't gonna be able to work on the car for up to a months time... Then I told him about the fluids I wanted to put in the car and he kept saying I dont need to and that its the same thing, said climate was also not working properly cause its an old car and so on. Thank GOD I found some good guys after him and some days who complimented the car for what it is and gave me props for keeping it mint and are willing to work on it properly with me ordering all the parts and them just fitting them on including fluids. Always remember not to trust ANY mechanic more than yourself in terms of fixing things if you can or changing out simple things.

Idk man I'm not saying it isnt possible but cat thieves usually steal from vehicles that are high enough up off the ground where they don't have to jack anything up so they can cut and get the hell out
Not necessarily because the Toyota Prius is one of the most common catalytic converter stolen. Very low car to the ground but they steal them because they typically contain more of the precious metals that a lot of other converters do. There was a story recently where a guy was killed stealing a catalytic converter off of a Toyota Prius. He had the car precariously jacked up and as he was cutting out the converter, the car fell on him and killed him. So so sad. If you can’t sense the sarcasm with that last sentence, it’s definitely there. Anyways the office workers came to work the next morning and found the body laying under the car. Again, so so sad
Last year cops arrested a crime ring leader responsible for trafficking more than 44,000 catalytic converters stolen from vehicles on the West Coast since 2021. Cops found over 3,000 catalytic converters at high end home.
This is pretty damn bad if that many bolts were loose on that subframe. The whole subframe will drop down and drag on the concrete. The bolts that were tight will be broken completely off and nothing will be left to hold the new steering rack. Most likely be on the side of a ditch if not off a bridge. Terrible work from the dealer this is definitely a tech fault here.
Just shows how useful it is to mark every bolt once it has been torqued or tightened. If companies like McClaren do this from the factory an indication that the nuts & bolts are tight it's a Fail Safe & insurance if something comes undone!
