WINTER VANLIFE - Condensation, Frozen Clothes and MOT test - Vlog 62

- Winter Living in a motorhome certainly does put a different perspective on Vanlife. Having frozen clothes in our cupboards above our heads isn't something I'd ever imagined, but it does happen and it's no that easy to resolve. Turning up the heating, allowing that hot air to circulate everywhere that comes into contact with the icy cold temperatures outside. We also had the motorhome in for its MOT 😳

Brilliant video again you two. Love the banter😊. Great camera and editing work Johnny Spielberg 🤪😎👌
Sorry to hear you have been receiving negative comments etc. But when you put yourself out there people are always going to have something to say. Looks like the cold spell is over so hopefully you guys can enjoy the spring 😁🌞
Great Vlog again guys. Loved the outro again, I'm still chuckling to myself. Please don't let negative comments get you down but I do have to make just one comment myself. I do hope no twigs were harmed in the making of this Vlog!! 🤣😂🤣
Thanks Den, the twigs were snapping at the chance to be in a you tube video 😁👍🏻😂
@@johnmandy 😂🤣😂
I love watching your vlogs and enjoy seeing how you get on with each other, I'm slowly working my way through them all and I just don't know why people waste time being negative. You're doing the right thing focussing on the positive and sharing that with us. :) Oh and great to see more veggie foods coming into play. :)
Still loving the videos! Glad she passed the MOT
John Mandy please ignore the negative comments these people are just jealous of what sort of life you've both chosen which is far, far, far better theirs's clearly , I always look forward to watching your channel as you both crack me up after a hards days graft at work.
Thanks Carl 😁👍🏻
"You are a banana." I really enjoy the banter between the two of you.
Mandy is not the most expensive thing in your van, she is the most valuable.
Awww thanks Jeff ☺️❤️
J&M, I've been hovering around for about a year, not one for making comments etc but just wanted to say that the positivity you both abound is very welcome in my life. You guys always make me smile at a time when we're all going through a bit of a mare. Keep it up please ! Love from Dublin.
That’s lovely, thank you ☺️👍🏻❤️
its great that you talk about the real good and bad of motor homing so anyone having problems wont feel it a major issue and end up ripping out their motor home looking for major problems when its condensation or lack of ventilation ,remember summer will be here soon
Thank you.. it’s all as it happens in here, hopefully as you say, it’ll make it less scary for those with less experience 😁👍🏻
Cheers John & Mandy for your great helpful videos. John you will always get some people throwing negativity around. Its normally because there's something missing in their lives.
I always remember one thing my mother said to me, when I was a young teenager, David if you have nothing nice to say, well don't say anything at all. Good advice I found.
Chin up John & Mandy, you are both great, stay safe, Dave & Jayne.
My mum said that too and she knew everything..!! Thanks guys 😁👍🏻❤️
Hello you Both! I can't believe you've been getting crappy comments from silly little people again.... Silly little people, we are all finding things tough; I've tried the grumpy thing and it does not work - not for you, not for anyone else, and then you'll find people around you will stay away as it is very hard to be around negative people, a little poisonous. So, maybe as you go out for your healthy walk today, or Zoom someone - try a smile. In fact; start smiling now; to yourself. If you start being kinder to yourself (and I know you can do it! We all have to fight our own demons!), you will also start being kinder to others and if we all need that at any time, it is NOW. We are all worth kindness.
John&Mandy, you pieces of loveliness, thanks again for a happy video to help us get through. Keith & I have started eating less and less meat, really without too much thought, and save the odd bacon sandwich have not found it hard at all. In fact, eating meat feels too heavy now (though I managed OK with a lovely marinated rump steak I made myself the other day! Been ages since I had steak!) and I do love the idea as well less animals are being harmed thanks to us eating less meat. I balance it out with more chocolate, ha haaa! Lots of love to you both and all reading this (yes, that includes the more negative-feeling people; I am sorry you are suffering. I hope you will feel a little brighter soon.)
Absolutely, couldn’t have said it better myself - it is such a shame as being like that really gets you nowhere fast.
I like the complete balanced diet too 😁❤️👍🏻 take care
Hi John and Mandy just to say we didn't manage to get back to the UK yet for good reason, and still in Spain.
As for condensation problems, ( we have in the past encountered very cold weather, especially in France)
We leave all the top cupboards open at night, and lightly packed.
The dead areas usually in corners can be a problem.
With our new van I have put down on the floor and walls in the garage the black rubberised interlocking matting £12 for six pieces. It helps with thermal break.
Also always use silvers teens in the summer and winter. Kind regards
Michael
Thanks Mike 😁👍🏻
The best positive thought spring is just around the corner happiness and hopefully freedom for everyone
Absolutely 😁🙌🏻
I fitted rain deflectors on the front windows, so I could have the windows cracked open without the interior getting wet, whilst getting ventilation. Also a humidity guage, and an extractor fan along with a diesel heater helps control the humidity levels in the van. Also you could drill small holes or a big hole and put a plastic vent in the sides of the over head lockers to allow good ventilation.
Once it warms up it’ll be fine.. minus 6 and living in a van will always create moisture 😁👍🏻
@@johnmandy with it being so cold have you had any problems with the fresh or waste water freezing up?
@@logangallagher7050 we have frost protection on our fresh tank so we had about 100 litres dumped one time with all the taps frozen too, that was after the inside of the van hit about 4 degrees - we keep the heater set to 10 degrees overnight now which keeps the water at a good temp.
Hello to you both of you glad your both doing OK loving the videos as always good luck with all the travelling once we all allowed out again lol you both take care and give Cooper a big hug from us all all the best
Thanks Jamie, hopefully we’ll find out exactly when today 😁👍🏻
Hi John and Mandy really enjoyed your video really looking forward to seeing your next video keep safe 😷👍🏻
John extremely well said, 100% agree. Life can be fleetingly too short and far too uncertain to spread anything other than kindness and positivity. Especially during times such as these. ❤️💙❤️💙❤️
Thanks Mr W.. that is very very true ❤️❤️❤️
One tip we found online useful for freezing and condensation, was a sock filled with silica cat litter! It works on keeping a windscreen dry but not sure whether or not it'd keep the freezing panels in the van dry too. Cheers for this one folks, another cracking watch 😀 Martin & Jo.
We have the little packs which did the job well.. it’s impossible to keep totally moisture free in a van at -6 I think 😁👍🏻
On a positive note Its been 35c here in Western Australia today 20/02/2021 sending you positive vibes keep up the great work you pair
Oh that sounds wonderful ❤️ I walked around with only 3 layers on today and did a little dance 😂😁
If you have space under the van put the heater in a box under the van it’s much quieter under the van then it it is inside the van and I have tried both , I would put a few vents in the garage it will help with the condensation.
You are both wonderful people, don't let anyone get to you, take care.
Thanks Brian 😁👍🏻
well done you guys , keep the faith , ignore the negatives can't wait to be on the road again take care
Thanks Tim 😁👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your latest week in the life of John & Mandy another great vlog again keep them coming 👍😎
Thanks Ian 😁👍🏻
Nice update guys, glad the van passed, hope the condensation didn’t ruin anything, couldn’t go meat free myself but I’ll do it on feb 29/30/31 just for you.
Aww that’s lovely 😁❤️ those are the extra meat eating fats John thought he had before realising Feb is a short month 👍🏻
Ignore all of the people who have nothing better to do than moan. Me and my hubby love watching you guys and I love getting ideas from Mandys cooking too. Take care ♥️ xx
Thanks Liz 😁👍🏻
Just a thank you from our family in Virginia! You both are so fun to watch and learn from, we really appreciate your sharing all your tips and how to have fun and adventure together!
Oh hi over there in Virginia 👋🏻 thank you so much for watching 😁👍🏻
Great to see you all hope it’s not long before you are back on your travels keeping fingers crossed for you.keep safe and warm and thanks for your positivity 👍
Thanks Gary, we hope so too for everyone 😁👍🏻❤️
Hi , John & Mandy I fitted a pair of wind deflectors on cab windows so I can crack the windows slightly helps with the condensation ( doesn’t cure it but helps a bit) small 12v pc fans are good for circulating air to . Take care the two of yous.
Thanks Jed, the front of the van doesn’t get condensed at all (apart from overnight on the screens a tiny bit) the back is better now we’ve moved things around a bit 😁👍🏻
Well said John, there’s enough worry elsewhere, our vans, and our travels (when permitted) should always be a source of optimism, joy, camaraderie and a few beers around a fire pit...Amen
Absolutely 😁🙌🏻❤️ amen to that...!
i know Im asking randomly but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly forgot the account password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Kendrick Colin instablaster ;)
Love your chats so much. Feeling sad we can't use our van at the moment. Keep up the good work guys. Take no notice of people's negative. I believe we are all in charge of our own destiny. At this time's we all need to be positive. Luv you guy's and Copper ❤
Thanks Susan ☺️👍🏻
Thanks for putting your time into the content guys. I've been watching you both for a while, its appreciated ❤
Thank you William 😁👍🏻
Ps- you, like Daz- still have no idea what 'snacks are'. Yes, im that guy.😉🤣🤣🤣🤣
Having looked at the bodywork when you removed the panel to fit the speaker, it looks like you have a lot of bare metal behind all your panels and trim (and no doubt cabinets too)
I would say that heating the van on the day and letting it cool at night is the main cause of your condensation. Along with boiling petals and using the hob and burning gas.
Look again, it’s the cab metal, that stops and then the coachbuilt hab area starts.
Today, 23 rd Feb. SW of Poitiers, France. 17 degrees. Windows open to air the house.
I think you and Mandy are great mate. Always happy, positive and real. Take care and safe travels 🙂
Cheers buddy 😁👍🏻
Hi John and Mandy, loved this episode I was crying with laughter at the end. Have you ever thought of doing a give away? You could hide in plan sight an item in one of your episodes, and make up a riddle to solve regarding the item. Then whoever guesses right first, they would win maybe some stickers etc. Hope you’re both keeping safe.
After last year, when some selfish idiot cost us a lot of money, we don’t do give aways anymore 🤦🏼♂️
@@johnmandy there’s always one that spoils it for everyone. Anyway on a positive note, I’ve binge watch most of your vlogs, it has kept me very entertained since March last year while I’ve been shielding. I think you need a phrase of the month, bad ass everything 🤣
Love watching you two, don't give these people a mention
Thanks George 😁👍🏻
Cooking with propane and butane gas produces a lot of condensation, water vapour/moisture is a byproduct of combustion
It certainly is 😁👍🏻
Love your positive attitude. Your Vlogs are excellent, with loads of great advice( especially for non technical people like us). We all have so much to look forward to, especially now with things improving. Cant wait to get travelling again. Thank you both for all you do, and the time and effort you put in. It really is greatly appreciated. John - I am looking forward to purchasing the electric power bank that you recommended when it is back in stock!
Thanks Richard 😁👍🏻
A Big Thank You for all your content; so useful, helpful and watchable!!!

Mandy, the best coffee ever! Which is fine ground is Lavazza - red packet 😁
Just love you guys keep it going and yes negativity is no good for anyone I always try to stay positive 👍😁stay safe 😃
Thanks Derek 😁👍🏻
Well said John you and Mandy keep people well entertained with your videos & comments keep it up you guys
Thanks Kevin 😁👍🏻
Sadly the haters are always going to hate John....it’s who they are and it’s all they’ve got. Unfortunately acknowledging their existence is the oxygen they crave. Just keep doing what you do mate 👍
Mandy, splash out on fresh roasted beans, and a hand grinder, roasted beans sold by roasted date not use by, I get mine from Mancoco in Manc. you'll notice a massive change....when youve found your sweet spot on grind size.
Ooh, I’ve always wanted a coffee grinder 🤔 I might be the most expensive person for a day 😂
Get a good grinder they are expensive
So I've tried re-fillable coffee capsules at home, plastic ones, stainless ones but no matter how I've filled them they either block under pressure or the coffee is too weak. I now use L'Or capsules rather than Nespresso as they are readily available & a little bit cheaper. Other than that can John come & sort the sound system in our van as it is so crappy we never use it! Have fun you two Cheers & Good Luck.... 👍
Thanks Nigel, I’ve got a few more things to try (mostly from reading this thread 😁❤️) but I also love the L’Or capsules - we buy them in bulk from Amazon too 😁👍🏻
Always a pleasure to watch your videos, thank you.
I’m no longer a coffee addict (I used to have about 8-10 mugs of strong coffee every day) but I do still like to drink the good stuff. The best and simplest device I’ve found is the Aeropress. Economical to buy, portable, easy to use and endlessly flexible if you use it right (I’m NOT on commission, just my thoughts 😁).
I think I top out at about 4 cups, maybe more if we have hook up. I have looked at aeropress but I love the Nespresso and it’s simplicity too 😁👍🏻
Many thanks John and Mandy for sharing and keeping us entertained. Thanks again ATB 👍
Thanks Steve 😁👍🏻
You've way to much moisture from cooking, showering etc together with cold bridging, heating is only circulating it on to cold surfaces. Only way to get rid of it in this weather is to plug into mains for a couple of days and hire a proper de-humidifier and move out for a bit, its not nice being in an area with a real one running only entering to empty bucket. A pain for you but its pointless trying anything else
It’s nothing to do with cooking & showering. It’s just a cold bridge, you get condensation without anything other than natural moisture in the air.
@@johnmandy Sorry have to correct you there, its everything to do with it. 25yrs sovereign approved contractor, its part of my trade
@@johnmandy only giving you some knowledgeable advice. Diesel heater needs to be drawing its air from outside or it’s only circulating the moisture which will condensate on cold surfaces, all metal surfaces including nuts bolts need covering, there’s nothing can do to stop moisture build up from breath but boiling water and showering needs ventilation in and out or it’s like sucking out of a plastic bottle. The need to remove the existing moisture in your van is paramount and being winter the only way is as advised above in first post above then you can start again with the preventive measures. Afraid it’s the only way in your circumstances, even the gas hob produces water/condensation as a byproduct from combustion. As it is your opening yourselves to chest infections etc..
@@Superfandangoo in an ideal world not using the van to hire a dehumidifier, remove everything and move out might be doable but living in it full time during a national lockdown is a different matter. We’ll sort it, thanks for the info 👍🏻
@@johnmandy that’s understandable, it’s not like you can hire a holiday home/caravan for a week atm to plug in and sort it, I guess all you can do is wipe up and vent before spores get into soft furnishings. Good luck
ignore the negitivity i love watching you two, so informative even if i dont have a clue sometimes what your talking about one of these days somebody is going to have a problem with a van and i will have the answer thanks to john keep your chin up
Thanks Shirley 😁👍🏻
Ha Mandy, bloody well done on the re-usable coffee pod; so proud of you! I'm really into my high quality loose-leaf breakfast tea (so far; Miles from Somerset is amaaazing) and hot chocolate. I am still researching more loose leaf black tea, but happy with my hot chocolate - perfection, I'd say! But must keep on tasting, of course...
Ooh of course keep testing, I’m thinking of adding hot chocolate powder to my coffee pod for a mocha.. see how that goes 😁👍🏻❤️
A change is always a good thing ,keeps you on your toes.Congratulations on the mot ,always a bit of stress on the day.
Thanks Sharon 😁👍🏻
Really enjoyed this video especially as it reminded us of “van chat Tuesday”,which we loved 🥰.
Fantastic idea for meat free March and we look forward to Mandy,’s new one pan meat free recipes .
I have used many of your tips and hints in recipes and they have been a hit with my hubby😍.I use the bouillon all the time and now know how to cook gnocchi.
Thank you for keeping going during lockdown as your vlogs have kept us entertained and we have enjoyed them so much . It is great to view your happy ,funny ,caring and positive vibes which lifts us all . I could listen to you two chat all day .
Stay safe from Bev and Steve Grainger from Macclesfield in Cheshire
Hi Bev and Steve, I’m so glad you are enjoying the recipes, I’ve a good list going for one pan veggie meals or changing up my regular ones to be vegetarian 😁👍🏻❤️
Well said John. Watching your video guys always lifts me up 💕

Hi
Well done for having a go at being meat free, even for a small time, it all helps you and the environment. Try out the gosh range, it’s really good. Also we found some interesting recipes with sweet potatoes and eggs where it looked like burgers and tahini spice, it was delicious.
Love the vlog, take care and you both oozzz positivity which is like a breathe of fresh air. Keep smiling and I’m glad you passed your MOT.
Getting excited about the lockdown ease which should see us all out and about again with big smiles on our faces xx
Aww thanks Jeanette - Monday is going to be a quiet time during the speech 😁👍🏻
Hi to you both and Cooper, loved the vlog 🤣🤣🤣 . The most expensive thing in the van is you Mandy A 24 carat wife you are an amazing person with many skills. Have a good week and stay safe. Ps Cooper looks good .🐕
Aww thanks Judith 😁👍🏻❤️
Keep up the positivity, lovely to see!

Somebody pull Mandy down off the ceiling as she continues to experiment with getting the perfect coffee! Glad the ‘van passed the MOT ok. Stay safe guys. Fingers crossed for good news from BoJo on Monday.
Haha, thanks David.. we’ll be listening with baited breath 😁👍🏻
Those speakers look brilliant, great idea and really good finish.
We pick up our new to us MoHo hopefully next week. Thinking of the things I want to add... I'll be revisiting some of your older vids.
Thanks as alway
Oooh exciting..!! Might be worthwhile hiding your wallet while you watch 😁😂 thank you so much for watching
I heard Capt Toms daughter explain how the family kept details of the trolls on social media away from him. I thought what sad people exist in the world, you have the right attitude, be positive, stay healthy, ignore the negativity. My wife and I follow the restriction rules to the letter, both of us have now received our first jab and every day I look forward to less people becoming seriously ill, dying and for Covid infections to decrease. Then “freedom” follows and we can get back on the road, make up for lost time and enjoy this fantastic country we live in.
That really is terrible isn’t it? What on earth can those trolls be thinking..
hopefully not much longer until we can safely start to do a little more - the tiny steps are going to feel huge 😁❤️
Keep up the +tive vibes... You guys brighten my week
We will David 😁 thank you so much for watching 👍🏻
Hello pilgrims! Glad you're safe and sound. Some interesting issues in this vlog. We're living in our van at present and also suffered from the frost. But unlike you softies with "Winterised" vans, some of us hardy souls have to contend with a bit more than a blob of vague frost in a locker! ;) Our water froze up for 36 hours last week. It's happened before, so we do have a system to cope. I've lagged as much of the pipes, but there is about 2 foot I can't get to. Even tank heaters wouldn't help. It's the bit under the shower tray floor, so it's either a complete dismantle the shower job, or spending Winter in Spain! I agree with you about the condensation issue, a lot of the problem is down to van manufacturers not realising that people use the in cold weather! I've been interested in changing the batteries to Lithium ones, when these come to the end of their life, but then you mentioned the price and suddenly it didn't seem that important! Why is everything in this "Van Life" so expensive? We're looking forward to getting away ASAp too, fingers crossed. Ireland and Scotland are possibilities, we've been before but they are both well worth another tour. Stay safe and thank you for your output. p.s. I love a sausage in a muffin too! ;0
Cheers Ste, proper hard core there - 36 hours frozen 🥶 our winterised van has a frost protection valve and decided to dump a full 120L of water on the floor when it got too cold - which then froze as all the taps were too so no water for us 😂 fun times
Scotland and Ireland are firmly on the list to visit ❤️
You two! 😂
I agree with you Little-Sis, my brother is the most expensive part of the van 😉😀 (love you Johnty). I love the mugs, but would prefer Coopie on the back, to the Gadget logo.
Have a fan-dabby-dozy weekend. It's 17C here today and up to 21C for next week... gorgeous! ☀️❤️😘🤗
Oooh 17 degrees.. that’s just showing off now.. I told john that those in the know, know 😂
Hi ya kiddos, Superb vid, blimey, sort that damp out mate,,,, I feel bad I’m in bed all cozy and your in the cold. Hopefully the diesel heater is doing it’s job...interested to see how John manages with the meat free thingy. Good on ya mates. Take care so looking forward to seeing you next week. Night night. 😘
Cheers Gill, I’m looking forward to it too 😁❤️
Going for a MOT is like going for you back teeth out even though you have a good idea its going to pass. On a negative note which has nothing to do with motorhomes, we have had a few incidents off dog and puppy thefts in our area and afar, because dogs are now bringing big money. Please be careful and aware when walking your dog. On a lighter note, nice to see you got a pass on the MOT and stay safe.
Hi hope ur well we have had our covid jab had a few reactions fine now love to see yous on a high we are looking forward to getting out in our caravan soon bye meg xx
Glad you’re feeling better Meg, hopefully not long now 😁👍🏻
Hi John and Mandy, love the positivity. We had exactly the same condensation issue with the garage and were told to block the heater vent into the garage and it stopped condensation overnight, sounds counter productive but it worked for us. We also live in ours full time. Hope it helps
That’s interesting, we tried that last year but the weather wasn’t as bad as it’s been recently.
Warm air holds more moisture, simple physics. I have never understood why folks heat their vans when not in use on the drive.
@@johnmandy two thoughts -an open and shut vent to recirculate the air from the garage into the motorhome to keep the air flowing and/or an open and shut vent in the garage door/doors?
That was a great update.....loved the start of the vlog John......great news on MOT......stay safe......thanks for sharing
Thanks Ian 😁👍🏻
If you're going veggie try the Holland & Barrett Soya chunks and soya mince, just add water to re-hydrate then fry to brown off. Amazing stuff, light and lasts forever.
£1.99 for 375g and works out cheaper than Amazon 👍
I’ve some beanfeast packets in the cupboard which are similar.. great in a chilli or spag Bol 😁👍🏻
I had a condensation problem in my home and a clothes drying problem. I did lots of research about it because I had had a dehumidifier previously and it was really expensive to run. Thing I learned that surprised me.
Oct to Apr it isn't really worth trying to get rid of moisture by opening windows (uk) as air outside is too moist.
Moist air takes more energy to heat.
Now I use an efficient meaco dehumidifier in my home. I also dry wet washing in it over the winter months. After initial drying out I only need to use it for half an hour a day. On balance I believe I recoup that from the less energy required to heat my home and it dries clothes quicker whilst also no condensation. I wonder if there is a small refrigerant dehumidifier that is suitable for van use that fits in with your electrical use. I understand space might be an issue also. If it only take 30 a day for a three bedroom house I am wondering if a once a week use in a van would work. Just a thought.
Ps keep positive you are a joy x
Thanks Sue.. it’s been fine since the temperatures have gone up and having a bit of a shuffle around 😁👍🏻
Love watching you guys and love to follow your life, would love to do something similar, feel sorry for negative people normally have issues with depression etc. But you guys enjoy your life and stay happy life is short xx
Thanks Matthew 😁👍🏻
The roof in my Hymer Eriba pop top suffers terribly from condensation in UK winters (damp as well as a bit cold) when stored. Not too bad in use because the heating and air circulation keeps it dry but a nightmare when stored, gets condensated and mouldy :( Eriba didn’t pay attention to basic physics either! This winter I’ve run some experiments with temp/humidity sensors but haven’t got around to turning the data into a video yet. A small usb fan has helped loads as it just keeps the air moving around, just one of those 6.99 cheap barrel like ones from amazon. You might also consider stick on closed cell foam, looks like you’ve already tried cork lining? Or dry mat (usually for under mattresses) to protect your clothes but hopefully weather will soon warm up and it won’t be an issue :) Thanks for the positive vibes, good luck for meat free March, something we should do here but committed carnivores so watching with interest!
Thanks for watching, hope the experiments are working out well. We thought we were the same about meat too - we’ll see how this goes 😁👍🏻
I lost my 33 year old son to c ovid Dec and my mother in law last week life's too short guys enjoy and your channel keeps me smiling keep safs
Oh Dean, I’m ever so sorry about your loss ❤️ life is so very short, I’m glad we can help with your smile ☺️❤️
Mandy, try Lavazza crema e gusto (blue and red packet). It is nice and strong and creates a lovely crema. You need to ensure what ever coffee you buy is espresso blend, ground coffee is not designed for an espresso machine. Ive not tried the reusable pods, but in a moka you have to ensure it is full of coffee but don’t pack it down. In an espresso machine you do press the coffee just not too hard so maybe try in the middle of the two. If you go to Italy get the crema e gusto forte (orange packet) it’s amazing, really wish they do if here in the Uk. I’ve not tried the oro so would be interesting to see what you think of the difference.
Hi John and Mandy, sorry about the Motorhome and the condensation problems. The motorhome companies have a lot to answer for when it comes to build quality. Some are built as 4 season living however most are not. I looked at buying a ready built camper/ motorhome in 2019 ready for my retirement but found that I would probably suffer the same problems you are experiencing in not having enough insulation, air circulation and the layouts seemed to be compromised . So having spent the last 25 years building canal boats I decided to build my own camper on a low mileage Merc Sprinter. I was able to decide on the layout, the insulation and the heating and electrical equipment mainly Truma and Victron and I have had no condensation problems in the 2 winters I have lived in the camper. I know I may have said this before but with your knowledge I am sure the next camper should be built by yourself. This would also be a good blog for you and Mandy and I am sure a lot of subscribers would benefit. You have very nearly rebuilt two up to now so starting one from scratch shouldn't be problem. Regards and good luck.
Everyone seemed to have missed the info we gave, it was -6 outside and we wanted to show the reality of winter vanlife. Nothing about build quality or anything else.
@@johnmandy Yes John I understand I was in my van too cos I live in it full time.
Enjoyed the update, interesting to see the reality of full time van life, passing on the positive energy! Me and the wife have been vegan for 18 months now and veggie before that, so good luck with ‘no meat March’ Look forward to your next update.
Thanks Phil 😁👍🏻
Hi John I agree with you on the negative comments be happy. If people can't say anything positive don't say anything. PS it was -12c in Luton last week 😱
Wow that’s a cold one.. it feels so much nicer to be positive we can’t understand why people would choose otherwise 😁👍🏻
Never seen a negative comment on this channel👍
@@Macnas we remove them pretty quickly when we find them - ain’t nobody got time for that..!! 😁
Have you tried putting towels etc in back cupboards in vacuum sealed bags, you will have more room for air to circulate and towels won’t get damp.
Loved the sausage in the muffin at the end 🤣
That’s on my list to try, could do with those to make things more compact too 😁👍🏻
I always look forward to your videos. So cheery. Anyways I hope John you will do a video when you change you diesel heater over to your van tank. Thanks again for letting us into your life

Best Video EVER ! Cant Wait for a full blockbuster movie cos your camera angles/editing are brilliant ! love Mat
Cheers Mat 😁👍🏻
Great ethical Vlog. John well done on meat free March. We do meat free 3 times a week to do our bit and now use half the meat we use to in meals like Chillis & Spags, we love cashews in our stir fry's. We went to Holland and Barret this week to replenish our dry soya stock. Mandy not seen steel pods for coffee machines before thanx for that Hack. You can start calling yourselves Flexitarians! Stay Safe.
Thanks Trace, it’s easy to eat a meat free meal nowadays I think, feels good to get them in when you can. We love the 99p beanfeast packets from the supermarket - they make a mean spag Bol or chilli. Ooh good to know I showed something useful 😂 the capsule is fab 😁👍🏻
Nice speakers John! Wow mental ice👍 shame about the ice clothes🥶 congratulations on the MOT! Exciting stuff with you trying no meat!
Cheers Max, yeah I’ve is good when it’s outside I think 😁👍🏻🥶
Fair play with meat free March. I am also cutting back on my meat intake (That's what she said)
Enjoyed the video.
Thanks Lee.. the meat free choices at the mo are amazing aren’t they?
@@johnmandy They really are!
It used to be frowned apon to not eat meat, you were less of a man apparently, at least that's how society made one feel. If you take a look at athlete's including Arnold schwarzenegger, they are all vegan and getting incredible results. Actually by eating meat it supposedly increases the inflammation in your body....
All the best 👍
One of my go to vegan meals is vivera shawarma kebab, get it in the chilled vegan section, takes a few minutes to warm in a frying pan, then have it with pitta, salad etc... my hubby couldn't tell the difference. Also love the Richmond sasages. Enjoy meat free march x
Ooh yes, we’ve had that too - also the Like chicken kebab is very much Greek Gyros tasting. Thanks Eileen 😁👍🏻
Well said John... positive wins
Absolutely - thank you 😁👍🏻
We Absolutely Love watching you Two! Great video! 😍 get that condensation sorted! 👊
Thanks Garry - we’re on it 😁💪🏻
Positive vibes. :) xx
Nice vlog guys hope you get the condensation sorted out I have 2 of the dehumidifiers in my garage of the van the ones with the large donut units in them and must say they have worked well you can see the water in them and garage is dry , as to the vegy side surely still have steak on the bbq and the chicken wings of course , take care .
Thanks Jim, not in March - no meat at all for the month but they might slip in every so often afterwards 😁👍🏻
Could you please move into my caravan for a week and fix all the things I want doing?? 😂
I can send John.. he loves a good project which interferes with my reading and coffee drinking 😁😂
@@johnmandy deal cara needs a solar panel fitting a new sky light and some kind of 12v system so I can charge my phones!! Lol
Good for you John keep up the positivity 👍
Thanks Nayan 😁👍🏻
John just a quick correction. You said Mandy is the most expensive thing in the van. Now it's obvious you misspoke, probably due to the amount of work you're doing etc., so it's easily forgiven. What you probably meant to say is that Mandy is the most priceless and irreplaceable item in the van. I know this goes without saying but sometimes it just needs to be said.😁👍
I (Mandy) think you’re absolutely right..!!! 😁👍🏻
love the vlog! cant wait for the summer adventures
Love watching you guys, and your positive vibes 😍
And Mandy’s cooking 😋
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Thank you very much 😁👍🏻❤️
You both are just brilliant!! Love all the content you so brilliantly bring us! When I watch your vlog's my anxieties just wash away. Keep it up🤙!! (That's what she said 😅)
Aww that’s lovely, I’m glad we can help out😁👍🏻❤️
You pair are just the ticket. A right good laugh mixed with interesting content and an invite in for a coffee and a chat. We're all missing our freedom right now but let's be positive and get ready for when we can get rolling again. In the meantime stay safe, grab your vaccination when it's your turn, and start planning your next trip. Its only a matter of time. 🥳
Aww thanks Geoff.. hopefully not too long 🤞🏻🙌🏻
Just want to say I purchased a ryobi 4v cordless screwdriver with angle heads small little thing for getting into them small spaces and can put hexdrive drill bits on it and it charges by USB
When I got it I thought about you John and wondered if you have seen them
Ooh will have to have a look, thanks 😁👍🏻
Great video guys. Just a point on when you pipe your diesel heater into the main fuel tank. If you plan on fitting the pick up pipe into the sender unit. I advise you buy the special tool to remove the collar on the sender unit. Just piped my diesel heater this way and I don’t think I could have removed the sender unit without the tool. 👍👍
Thanks gary, I’ve not seen the tool but have seen plenty using homemade tools, so will try that first.
@@johnmandy hi John the special tool only cost £9 from eBay it’s a no brainier sent you a link on email. If you want me to explain how I got the thing off let me know 🙏
Hi John & Mandy, after watching this, my husband Kev, bought a reusable pod for my Tassimo and it’s great. Just have to work out the right amount of coffee - the first was too weak (only had medium grind so couldn’t put much in), second was too strong (finely ground and put too much in). 🤪
My De Longhi Burr grinder is brilliant though and gives a good fine grind.
Love your videos, take care x x
Oh brilliant..!! I think it’s fun figuring it out, especially when you get to drink the fruits of your labour 😂
Thank you so much for watching 😁👍🏻
I think you produce interesting well made very watchable videos.
Keep doing what you're doing 😁
Thank you very much Elliot 😁👍🏻
Oooh matron! 😉 Great intro John. You & Mandy, Lou & Em are my fav van youtubers. Think we might join you for Meat free March. We did meat free January last year and at the end we treated ourselves to a pub meal in Castleton and ordered gammon, didn't enjoy it at all, not a crispy bit of fat insight. 😣 We enjoy curry's with quorn pieces using Pataks curry paste, I throw some red lentils in, courgettes or peppers... good for a one pan meal. Anyway, keep smiling and ignore the miserable trolls and their negative vibes. X
Ooh very nice.. I think we’ll go that way too but will happily let John enjoy all the food in March and see for himself😁👍🏻
