Just a tip - when reattaching the 3 control blade bolts, the spindle might be too far back and put the bolts under excessive load so use a ratchet strap with one end on transmission cross member and the other on the spindle to pull the spindle forward to meet the control blade threads
Terrific video Tom. When I did my rear wheel bearing 6 months ago I needed a heavy duty puller to separate the axle from the hub as they get really stubborn. Releasing the tension on the handbrake cable and releasing it from the hub took a fair bit of time as well. Keep making more videos! Would like to see one on removing and inspecting the diesel injectors on an SZ. One of mine looks to be leaking diesel from the top so I need to remove, inspect and maybe send away for repair. May need to re-seat as well.
Thank you Thomas. I went to work on a friends fg falcon for first time and armed with the workshop manual thought it would be fairly straight forward but nooo. The manual is useless and after some searching found your video to be the most informative. Cheers
I just keep a few complete knuckle assemblies on hand to always change over. I'd go through wheel bearings more then the average territory user. Start to finish takes me about 20mins a side. I always use copper anti seize on the CV splines.
Could be. Sometimes you can feel play in the bearing when the vehicle is raised. But a bearing will start making noise long before you can detect the play. The brake pads support the bearing somewhat. Eyeball your diff. If there's any sign of leaks or oily residue, check the diff oil. Most vehicles will be well overdue for diff oil change by now.
@user-se6pj3lt5c Called a pac nut, I believe. Others have indicated in comments here they're a 1 time use. Certainly, I wouldn't re use them if you can turn the nut by hand. Looks like Jefferson ford do them. part BA5N042A
The axle fastener is a one time use fastener. You need to use a new fastener rather than using the old fastener again. Otherwise this is a good instructional video.

@dominiclucas8617 thanks. I know some people have had success replacing the copper washer to fix a leaking injector.

Is that nut self locking?

@ I’m not a fan of them, just the thought that nut ain’t tight or locked off 🤣
