You're a natural presenter mate. Calm, clear, smooth and easy going. Fine speaking voice and accent too. Excellent tradecraft because you'd thought it all out in advance and spoken to professionals for confirmation. I've done that job at least ten times myself and was going to oversee one of my nephews do the same job on his BA ute. No need. Your tute makes it all come alive for even the least experienced backyarder. Bloody well done son !
Absolute legend mate cheers!! To be honest out of anxiety and stress, making UA-cam videos for the internet has been my excuse to practice public speaking, stringing sentences together and overcoming nerves. Definitely have come a long way compared to my earliest videos, so I look forward to more content that not only will help others but means I get to do what I love that is DIY on cars. Glad I could help you avoid needing to oversee the nephew at work, what a humbling compliment you think my vid can help out sufficiently!
You are too kind brother!! Far from professional but perhaps my fussy nature helps with a quality results hahaha
Best video I found on this. It's great to have a video that shows every piece of every stage in detail. So many people who make vidoes like this skip over things they think are obvious, but which a newbie really needs to see done in detail. Thanks for making it.
Mate thank you very much, yes this is how my videos started trying to Bridge the gaps in UA-cam tutorials for things that I need help with that don't currently exist or need a bit of the Ford Merc guy take for DIYers 👊
Take care brother!
Mate I got a noise coming from my front left every time I turned left the sound it went away, I knew straight away with the humming and whirring it was the wheel bearing, bought the part last night waiting for it to arrive, been freaking out about how I’m gonna do it and this video has gave me peace of mind, very well explained
Thanks a lot for letting me know mate really good too hear that my video can be of help. I do have to give credit to the people that made videos before me because they gave me the confidence to give it a crack but I hope to Bridge some of the gaps in those videos in my video
Great stuff mate. I enjoyed your calm and logical instruction. No hype of waffle. Just straight workmanship 👍
Mate thank you so much for taking the time to drop a comment for me it helps a lot. But that's it I tried to make all my videos exactly how I would want to be seeing the videos on UA-cam
I must say, your tutorials are very clear and easy to follow. Thanks for the vids. It's motivated me to try to do abit of work on my beloved BA myself.
Good to hear we can share the DIY motivation. And much appreciated bro, trying to make the videos as concise as possible! Thanks for dropping a line 👊
You are the best mate, thank you for all of your youtube channels. Love watching them all thank you for the tips on how to replace a Wheel Bearing. Had trouble taking out the ceased inner bearing ring. Bought the puller-bearing separator kit. finally, It came out. CHEERS again.
Thanks for taking the time and leaving me a great comment mate. Glad my video could be of help 👊👊
I just picked up an old Falcon for $700. The wheel bearings sound awful. After watching this, I’m definitely going to tackle this myself. Thanks for a great tutorial!
Cheers so much mate, glad I could help out 👊
FYI - BA Falcon - Torque Specifications: Wheel bearing Nut = 300Nm. Brake Caliper to Spindle = 115Nm. Wheel Nuts = 125Nm.
This will help many others cheers mate
Top stuff thanks. Great comment to compliment a great video.
Well done buddy. You are a natural with a good calm speaking voice and your vid helped me a lot. Saved me money going to a mechanic too.
Cheers brother, trying my best! Glad I could help out mate 👊👊
Thank you sir. My son's BA has growling bearings, so this video is a goldmine.
Cheers muchly mate, super stoked I can be of help 👍👊👊
Thanks mate, great vid, well presented and very informative. I feel like I can be fully prepared now when I tackle it on my bf ute tomorrow.
You're welcome mate thanks very much for letting me know it's great to hear that my video could be of great help. I certainly have the videos prior to mine to thank me for giving me the knowledge and know how of what to.do but hoping my video Bridges some of those gaps in other videos
Great tetorial, great teacher, simply explained, this will save big $$$ for the home machanic or layman. Again great video, thank you for your step by step video and all those tips ... Cheers John
Thanks muchly for watching mate, I'm glad I could help out, I made sure to include things I needed when I was looking at other videos to guide me before I tackled the job! Cheers
Thanks for the amazing video. I’m reasonably handy on the tools and this video gave me the confidence to tackle this last weekend. Even borrowed a bearing puller but thankfully didn’t need it. All changed without a hitch on a ‘07 BFII XR6.
Perfect mate!! Good hustle 👊 glad to hear my vid could be of help
Wow thanks saved $240 which was what the mechanic was charging. Bought the part for $35 and 30mins work. Thank you so much
Awesome!! Sounds like guy didn't need the puller? Awesome savings mate! Super glad I could help. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment for me much appreciated
where did you buy it from
I ordered it brand new through supercheap Auto
@@FordMercGuy the bearing was just 35?
I can't remember the price now. Call supercheap Auto, give them your number plate and they can give you a quote 👊
You’re a gem mate. You’re a natural teacher ❤
It's very much appreciated mate, hey one can only try! 😁🫶
Cheers, brother. I'll save this video for when I've got to do my wheel bearings. Got a noise from the front end I can't identify after doing brakes and ball joints and it still has a scraping squeal at very low speed and only sometimes so I suspect it could be wheel bearings coz nothing's rubbing.
No dramas mate! Oh darn, sounds like very frustrating trying to find the source of that sound. Good luck mate
Great to see you don't have to mess around with messy grease anymore! Great Video :)
Cheers mate yes indeed very convenient everything is ready pressed to go!
Just had to replace mine and this vid was invaluable.. Especially some of the tips like the bucket..
It's my pleasure mate glad I could help
Tiny bit of heat and a chisel popped it off in a minute for me, don’t necessarily need the puller but would help if anyones unsure!
That's it man, good stuff. Or perhaps anyone tentative to use heat/or doesn't have a flame to use.
Very satisfying video lol
Great vid, typical Oz production. No wanker music, no rambling. Just the facts. Thank you.
Hahaha that's it mate cheers
Just did both mine on my AU. . Both iner casings got stuck, but that tool works like magic. . . But instead of taking the abs sensor out to be able to get the bearing puller behind the casing, I just lightly clamped down on the little grove where the ball bearings roll and that was enough to get it moving.
Awesome mate yes the tool is a lifesaver and good job you got yours sorted
@@FordMercGuy thanks bud, good job on making a informant video, it's appreciated.
I have to thank some of the videos that were already out at the time that gave me the confidence to give it a crack but there was many elements that weren't polished Walkley enough and I hope that I was able to fill in the gaps on my video. But many thanks mate and thank you watching taking the time to leave a comment
@@FordMercGuy Very modest of you but regardless, you did fill the gaps which the other videos didn't and that gave me the confidence to do it myself. You literally save me money dude, so that paired with how respectful you seem I'd like to contribute more then just a like, comment and a subscription. Please tell me how can I show more appreciation my friend.
Mate you're an absolute legend! It's the thought that counts honestly. Glad I could share my experiences and help you save and get the satisfactions of DIY. Perhaps do me the honour of giving my mobile buisness instagram a follow and shout out (Handy AutoCare) I have the earliest Ford Merc Guy videos to thank to push me over the edge to begin customising/upgrades/detailing as a buisness. Keep intouch over there brother! I hope more freedom through the buisness which means I have more time to make UA-cam videos.
Thank God both mine came off easy, that bearing kit isn't cheap
Very lucky mate and absolutely right for most of us we don't do this job very often at also a very costly kit to have sitting around dusting on the shelf
Crystal clear description. Great vid mate.
Mate thanks so much 👊👊
Great video and great camera showing everything thanks for the info.
Thanks very much mate!
Hi thanks for the complete video of the job. Here my question might not be direct to this job, but I'm confused about my Ford Falcon 2003 Wagon rear wheel hub & bearing assembly, if this car is fitted with independent rear suspension, but I don't know how to check that. One guys advised me to replace this Falcon REAR wheel hub and bearing assembly, he said the parts would come together with axel as a whole replacement. Could you advise, I would be appreciated?
Yes when I needed to replace my rear left wheel bearing on my wagon, my mechanic mentioned he had to remove the whole axle and press the bearing out? I think it was for Utes and wagons I hear. Hope it helps!
Great video - would love to see one for replacing BA/BF Lower ball joints
Thanks mate,
Yeah likewise would be great to see a good tutorial video on replacing them! Although I may just bite the bullet and invest in the tools to do the job. Good peace of mind given they can shear off and cause havoc!
thanks very much, this is what the internet is all about, spreading the secret knowledge
You're welcome mate! The world is getting more connected and knowledgeable! It's great isn't it due to the internet it's all possible
great video thanks. Do you need to pack grease into and around the bearing ?
Not sure mate, without mechanical training I'm unaware. Seek a Haynes manual for recommendation?
@@FordMercGuy it works out that these are a sealed bearing that do not need any more grease than ready supplied in the casing.
Thanks for the video just a quick question would you add some anti seize on the back of the new bearings or not necessary?
No dramas mate thank you, unfortunately a mechanic would know best, if you do use some perhaps make sure it is a lithium based or something that doesn't attract dirt and dust and cause more problems
Thanks mate worked a charm accept I had to take the callipers off my rotar to loosen the rotor
Sweet as mate glad to hear my video came in useful for you 👊 👊
Great mate 👍🏻 I went camping on some dusty and corrugated roads at Easter and think it has started a noise in my wheel bearing at front . Just had trans done and thought it was something with that but I can slightly feel the vibration in steering wheel . I will jack the car on both sides and spin the wheels to listen for noise . What else can I do to detect dodgy wheel bearing ?
I'm no mechanic but I've seen some tests such as When in the air, see if you can feel any clunking/moving when you grip at 3 and 9 o'clock and pulling in opposite directions, and 12 and 6 o'clock. Feeling for any play might indicate a bit of a bad bearing.
Or when driving and pitching hard left to right, if the bearing noise gets louder on the side when the car weight leans on that side bearing, that can be another sign.
great vid I paused it and made sure that I had a 36mm socket CHEERS
Thanks very much mate, certainly handy finding out what tools are needed before we undertake a job
Always 'fun'! hahaha. I did a video about it, and associated repairs on my channel also a few years ago - so far, only the passenger side bearing has needed replacing...touch wood!! 😆
I mean certainly could be worse however that's right lots of fun 😜 I heard from a mechanic once explain to me that because of the Geometry in the roads for allowing rain to pull to the left side of the roads that the slant in the road geometries left side wheel bearings tend to go more easily.
@FordMercGuy Makes sense!
That's it!
Really helpful mate. About to do my BA as it’s really noisy
Cheers bro I'm glad to hear it! You'll find it nice and quiet once it's done 👊
Good video mate. It's the inner race that was stuck on 😉
That's it ay mate!
Great video so well explained, thank you so much for making this video its a wonderful help.
Thanks for dropping a line mate! Glad my video could be of help.
Means I don't have to pay $10,860 to the mech down the Rd to do it Lol
Good vid, thanks for helping the DIYers. The light still shines... ✨
Hahahah that's it, quite a doable DIY job with the right tools up your sleeve. Glad I could help mate!
Thank you for all the information I got a ford bf it making bad noise as I'm going to buy a new set soon
Glad I could help mate. Good luck!
I been learning about Holden's it easy puss but the ford I have here is gets me headaches
Yeahh each make and model has its own strengths and weaknesses
Great vid mate...you are going to get heaps of people watching this and I hope you do..
Ford quoted me $680 to fit plus parts little town in Victoria won't say where just in case they see this vid...doing it myself like you did:
Thanks mate certainly not heaps involved just a little bit of time and a few speciality tools like the puller set in case yours is seized on like mine. But cheers mate I'm glad I could help you out and yes the current videos that were out before I made mine were helpful but there are a few points lacking hope my video helps others as well in the future
And yes you need the puller set think I saw that set in Supercheap for $109
Cat recently ate the box of the one I got for this video 😂
I just had a left front wheel bearing and hub done by my mechanic , he charged $170 .
For a few weeks I was hearing a humming noise, then bang, the ball joint failed and the body of the car was sitting on top of the tyre .
I just replaced both the front lower rear control arm and ball joint assemblies myself .
This is on a 2008 Territory Ghia Rwd.
Both control arms and fleet wheel hub and bearing were fitted by my mechanic in Feb 2021 only lasted 23000klm.
Pretty sure he got them from Repco .
Personally I can't think of a reason why they should fail so quickly apart from everything being tightened by rattle gun and not being correctly torqued to specs.
I hardy did any long distance , rough road or anything else I can think of to damage these parts .
Just to let all the Territory people know I bought the latest control arms from Gary Walker , they have a grease nipple in the Ball joint.
Cost $175 each, hopefully these last .
Good video and I'm a retired Carpenter , not really into DIY car stuff , but after the Ball joint failed, couldn't get it towed , wheel wasn't connected, did it myself on the side of the road.
Clear concise video , enjoyed watching it.
Thank you mate yes the ball joint certainly our Achilles heel of these cars. I read all the time on Facebook forums that New ball joints last about 20,000 km before failing. Perhaps brand quality plays a big part in longevity.
But thanks again mate glad my video could be off some help
definitely will need to tighten the hub nut again they require 255nm of torque if i remember correct, in the video you might of been lucky to have gotten 150nm by pulling with that breaker bar and its quite important to preload these bearings with the recommended torque or they wont last
Absolutely mate, safety first also so important. Cheers for the insight!
320nm is Ford factory torque spec, I was working at a Ford factory suppliar assemblying the front ends
Fantastic well explained calm and collected presentation thank you
Many thanks mate and it is much appreciated your kind words have a great Christmas ahead
@@FordMercGuy You also mate all the best for the new year
Cheers legend!
Excellent Video and explanation Subscribed
Very much appreciated legend! Cheers
Will be doing this job today. Cheers fir taking the time to make the video
Good luck mate, take care with it. Glad I could help you out with my video 👊
Thanks for the info, valuable stuff.I would prefer to be using torque wrench and proper specs to be tightening things up though.
Cheers mate! Agreed Yep absolutely, best to do it with a torque wrench as I mentioned in the vid. Peace of mind with full recommended torque specs.
Those nuts are single use only. When you buy the hubs make sure you replace the nuts. Torque setting is 300 nm.
@steve Jones that's it mate!
I've got some semi slicks on the front of my car i thought they were making road noise drove from Sydney to Melbourne got some new normal tyres and the noise was still there! Wow cant believe it lasted the whole way!! Will the last when they are broken and just be noisy? I have fixed it as per your vid but just wondering because a friends one sounds like its doing the same.
Great vid and content by the way very informative I've looked at some of your vids before to do some work on my Typhoon, and you can be a cunny funt too haha thanks again!
I'm not a mechanic but feom what I understand.. A failed wheel bearing can cause a wheel to break away from the wheel bearing/hub assembly essentially falling off the car. I guess a noisy wheel bearing is the beginning of a bearing starting to fail.
More noise means more wear on the bearing.
Thanks so much mate, really appreciate your time in watching and compliments. Hahah yeah, always trying to channel my inner Rich rebuilds vibes. All the best brother. And keep preventively servicing 👊👊
thanks mate! what an amazing video, you make it look so easy! great work!!!
Ah cheers muchly mate! Not bad for my first attempt on this kind of job ay hahah
@@FordMercGuy yea not bad at all :) full confident. i just love the manner of which the video was demonstrated, it definitely instills confidence for others to attempt it. +1 sub :)
That means so much it really means alot mate definitely takes a lot of time and effort to capture videos in a way that are watchable and clear! At least that is what motivated me to make my first few videos because the current videos on the specific topic that I needed for my Falcon were a bit how are you going hahaha
Thank you for listing the tool links 🙂
No drama mate! 👊👊
You be a great mechanic mate very informative. Cheers
Very much appreciated bro thanks for the complement. Not too bad for self taught DIY hey
You self taught very good. I give you an A+
Thankyou brother! Hopefully sharing the A+ well and inspiring others!
@@FordMercGuy well I'm interested in doing it myself save heaps hard to get cash tho my ute bf be going to the shop. But ye inspired iam.
That's heaps good man. Keep watching other UA-cam videos and give it a crack mate
With the inner bearing ring did you have a extra peace still on like a washer if so did you leave it in ? I'm not sure what's going on after installing 2 hubs my stearing have a slight rub or vibration when I turn the stearing wheel
Its tough to say mate. I just went for full removal of the old hub + that remainder part that was stuck on the shaft and replaced with the new as in this video. Checked your power steering fluid? If too low top up. Sometimes low fluid could make vibration if air has been sucked into the system.
Otherwise might be worth jacking up and turning the wheels and seeing if you can hear the noise with wheel spinning
Extremely helpful, thanks for sharing. Appreciated. Rob
Cheers mate glad I could be of help thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks a lot man.Keep up the great work
Cheers very much mate always tricky to find time to shoot the videos and edit videos but hoping to make as many as I can! Thanks for watching 👊
Very helpful video mate keep it up👍loved the one liners to🤣
Thanks so much mate! Hahah trying to sprinkle some Rich rebuilds vibes where possible 😜
Lol yeah flick that bearing the bird. Thanks for the mechanics lesson 👍
Hahah that's it mate 👊 cheers ay
Absolutely amazing video. Great work man
Man, thanks so much 😍 not bad for a spare time shoot and edit youtube video 😂
Helped me out so much! Thanks
So awesome to hear mate thanks a lot watching and your comment
Hey bro thanks for the video it helped me out.
By the way never say never. I grinded the bearing housing off.
Hey mate I'm glad to hear it. Oh hey if it works it works!
@@FordMercGuy it worked. I didn't have that jig and had to get it done. You just do it softly with a small disc and on angles to make the disc fit. I cut and cracked a triangle out with my chisel and hammer, the neck didn't need to be cut all the way through because it slid off by then. Only some superficial scraches from the grinder on the axial nothing life changing. Im proud of myself. Thxs again ❤️🙏✌️
It's the best feeling when you find a way to do DIY and save yourself cash! Great stuff mate
@@FordMercGuy thxs again much love ☺️
@@FordMercGuy obviously a battery gringer not a powered one
Love to see some more vids in the BF LPG car :)
Cheers for the feedback mate. Let me know if there are any specific videos you'd like to see the see in the future
@@FordMercGuy as my LPG BF 07 is getting old. Keen to see how hard it would be to replace worn out bushings etc under the car. Especially for a Ford. Cheers.
Yeahh that's something I wana learn to do on my falcons too. Hopefully get round to it one day and make Vids for yas!
Hey mate is that a NSK brand wheel hub assembly you installed?
Hey mate I'm unsure of the brand sorry!
Haha I did the same job years ago and had no idea of a separator kit and ended up using my dremel with the fine grinder wheels. I always thought there had to be a better way. But at $110 a little patience and $5 of grinding wheels ..... Well fuck it.
Any way excellent video!!!
Oh yeah it helps to lock the steering wheel🤣😂 Dufus mistake.
Onya man! Good work getting the job done! Yeahh so many tricks, we're all learning!!
I got bad shudder. But only had it 3 months in fixin bit as can afford. Ignition switch next. An gettin guy to do. Thanx
Good luck legend!
Thanks for the video mate, very helpful
Cheers mate for the feedback, you're welcome 👊 glad I could help!
Killer vid bro. 👌🏼
Thanks 👍🏻
Cheers heaps bro!!
cool intro! and outro too. Very cool
Thanks so much brother hahaha that's it not bad for a bit of beatboxing for the intro hey 😂
Shouldn't you have put some grease on the shaft before the hub went on?
Howdy Legend, actually I'm not sure! No issues since so far. Best to consult a mechanic/Haynes manual for recommendations when undertaking major mechanical repairs.
Thanks mate.🤝
You're welcome mate!
Thanks very helpful!
Cheers mate, glad it's helpful
Really like your videos. Could you please make a video on changing a car horn.
Thanks very much mate 👊 yes this is one I have wanted to make for a while, I actually have 10 horns connected currently on my wagon hahsh. But early Appologies I have a backlog of videos to edit with very minimal free time so horn video will be much down the track
Great video, got the job done. Thanks!
Perfect, cheers mate glad to hear it
Thanks it helps.
Awesome!
Very helpful. Thank u.
I'm very glad to hear it mate thanks for letting me know
Will a stuffed bearing have abit of back n forward movement when jacked up? Got a noisy bearing,no vibration, but unsure what side It's on just making sure that checking for play first is the right way.lil deaf any advice will help
Hi mate jacked up with wheel on, if you can get movement play, that will lead towards having a bad bearing in my experience yes.
Also driving and turning sharp left and right a few times while maintaining speed while driving down a straight road.. The bearing noise will show up when the car is leaning on the side with the bad bearing.
@@FordMercGuy champion thanks for replying
Mate no dramas, good luck. Chat on my channel's official instagram if ever easier for quicker replies 👊
you are a god send mate 🙏

Nice vid, mate 👍🏻
Cheers mate thanks for watching
Any falcon station wagon specialist workshop in Melbourne?
Unfortunately SA based, so can't help directly mate. Any good mechanic that's dealt with Falcons surely has experience with the wagons!
Use OEM hubs. Several Ford dealers on eBay sell them at a good price. Better quality unit than aftermarket and they last a lot longer…
That's the one mate!
I don't know what it was like a year ago, but OEM wheels hubs are 400 a piece now.
Darn!! Inflation not helping.. Perhaps as OEM parts aren't getting manufactured? So remaining stock is going up?
@@TunsaMcHaggis
OEM Ford Australia hubs are $93.50 each plus roughly $15 for freight. No idea why you think they’re $400!
Awesome video
Thankyou John!!
Brilliant thanks
You're welcome mate. Thanks for watching!
What was the correct torque tension for the hub nut as it’s critical
We should refer to a workshop manual for the info! 👌 I believe for these Falcons they can be accessed online free
My territory needs it done on all 4 wheels
Oh darn mate! Although strange for all 4 to be gone at once. Sure it's not noisy tyres?
Is this the same for an AU?
Hi mate, I'd imagine so. I haven't done one on an AU though. But lots of similarities across au and b series. Should be super close I'd imagine
Legend
Thanks bro! No dramas
Torque setting on the axle nut is 300 Nm
I'm sure this info will help lots of people out
What if it makes the noise when driving in straight line but stops when turning
I'm no mechanic so I can't comment with certainty. I can imagine a very worn out bearing will show up in straight line.. But I'm unsure why your sound is going away when you are turning. Puzzling
Yep, my front right sounds like a train on tracks in a straight line. Worse around corners.
Would this be th same as the rear
Hey brother I personally have not done a rear one I only have the wagons in the family and the rear on the wagons change the wheel bearing is a completely different setup the axle shaft needs to come out but I'm unsure if the sedan rear is a carbon wheel bearing assembly like the front on these Falcons like in my video
@@FordMercGuy yeah hopefully the sedan is just the wheel hub being irs
The nut that holds the bearing on is a one time use, get a replacement before taking off the bearing- its 212nm torque setting also most DIY mechanics won't have a torque wrench of that capacity, lots of risks for a quick job at the garage. Good luck!
Perfect thanks for the insights mate, will surely help others reading this in the future. My new bearing kit came with a new nut and yes, working on integral moving parts of a car, one does so at their own risk.
Only Harley's need thread lock mate , next time put a little copper grease on the spindle before putting the new hub in place , its got great anti seize properties . Good video anyway.
Yeah copper grease something I've been meaning to have up my arsenal. Cheers for watching mate. Happy new year!
Just to clarify, I did mine today then thought mmm should I have greased the spindle, due to metal on metal ,will get so hot ?
Hopefully someone trained in this area can help us out one day!
Yer if doin brakes why not get that. Cos rekon mine are prob not good. Cheers
That's it certainly could do a overhaul on the hub assemblies while you are working at the breaks as well
300NM nut torque for those playing at home. Odd no seals or grease anywhere..
Cheers for torque spec mate. Will help someone.
Yeah, all internal hey hmm
❤🔨
🛠️ 👊🫶
Bro im pretty sure that Nut it one use only.
Hey bro, new hub nut was supplied with the new hub, I used that one.
