I played music at Chena Hot Springs about 45 years ago when it was a run down place in need of lots of work. We cross country skied up the canyon behind the springs for an over nighter at below zero temperatures. It is amazing what they have done with the place.
Excellent videos (all of them) and narration is so informative plus a great voice. Well done!!! Sure hope you guys keep the videos coming. Not many on UA-cam can produce such quality. We don't want to miss any of your adventures. Subscribed.....why wouldn't we? Keep it up and you will have quit the following. Thank you!!! Mimi & Tom, Columbia, MO, USA
Stumbled upon your channel so randomly, and I’m so glad I did! Your narration and filming creates a wonderful mix of education, fun, and a sense of calm. Really well done and I hope you keep the videos coming! Thanks so much for your hard work. Cheers!
My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed following the two of you on your Alaskan adventure. We are heading to Fairbanks in March of 2024. Cora, I would love to know what kind of boots you were wearing on this episode at the Denali observation point. Also, any recipes Jose would like to share with my husband would be awesome! Keep up the great work!! We look forward to every new episode.
Hello!!! So happy you are on the adventure with us! And awesome to hear you are planning your own trip to Alaska! You both are going to LOVE it!! These are the boots I'm wearing: amzn.to/44GySLl Jose will have to speak for himself when it comes to the recipes. I'm pretty much useless in the kitchen! Though I am a handy baker. We hope you enjoy the next episode!
U r Wisconsin native? Awesome. Me 2 & still r. Thats why u r resourceful & adventure. Just started watching your channel. Thans 4 the great history, culture, food, laughter & more. Keep making positive videos. 😊
Hi Barbara! Yep, Wisconsin born and raised! Jose is Nicaragua born and raised! You know what's funny is that we came from different countries, but basically the same place. His community is all about dairy farming and country living as well 🧑🌾😊 I'm so happy you found us here! Thank you for all the kind compliments on the videos! Welcome to the gang! All my best, Cora
Watching cause I just spent the day driving through the range. I went to the southern viewpoint and the snow was up to my chest! I was still able to get a good view from one of the pullouts alongside the road.
That's so awesome! I (Cora) just flew in yesterday and Denali was screaming - even flying over the Turnagain Arm it was visible just punching straight into the sky. Absolutely epic. So happy you saw it out in force yesterday!
Veo que son dos locos lindos como Simo y Lucy, me hicieron reír . Feliz de ver que les gusta el vino, así que espero poder invitarlos con empanadas y vino 😊😊
Hi I am very impressed with your video. I first went to Chetna hot springs in 1994 and loved it. yes in the winter. It has grown which really makes me want to return. I better hurry. I am in Lake Clark now so maybe a trip to Anchorage for the Iditarod start in March and then a road trip to Chetna and Fairbanks. Cheers
My husband and I are truckers and travel the Alaska Highway twice a week. We leave from Edmonton and go to Beaver Creek. We are always in awe of the beauty and love all the animals, especially the bears. We were wondering if you drove the car all the way or towed it?
When I was kid it was called Mt. McKinley. You should have rented or borrowed an SUV. 😊 Chena Hot Springs is awesome. 👍 We would get moose in our yards. Anything above 0° was a heatwave for us. Those ice sculptures are amazing. I sometimes miss the small town atmosphere of Fairbanks, but I don’t miss the long, cold, dark, high cost of living winters. 😊
Although there's not a village here year round, per se, I learned long ago on a Sat. AM program (Rock the Park, I believe), that the park rangers there to patrol the park via dog sled. Wisconsin? I'm watching from my hometown, and still home--Rockford, IL--just the other side of the Cheddar Curtain.😀 If I remember correctly, the famous and multi-winning lady musher in the Iditarod--Susan Butcher--lived in Chena Hot Springs.
The little cabin near Chena Hot Springs? If they aren't renting that one out anymore, there are a few rented out by the hot springs resort itself. They are right on the resort grounds. Also dry cabins.
We took the bus tour through Denali 2 years ago. The next day they closed the road because a section of the road slid away from the mountain side. They said a bridge had to be built in order to reopen the road. Do you know if it is open now?
Oh wow, you LITERALLY were one of the last people to take a bus tour all the way in! The road is still closed with a projected reopening in 2024. But you know how construction projects are… I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t de-open until 2026.
When we crossed that point it was scary. There were dozers and road graders moving gravel to build the road back up. It was one of those moments when you say to yourself "Let me out I'll walk across" @@ArtWeThereYet
Hahaha, it was....interesting!! We were plenty warm, it was more the cramped space that was a little uncomfortable. And waking up in the middle of the night to go the bathroom!! :)
@@ArtWeThereYet what is the name of the song? From the little we could hear, seems amazing!! Side note, our lodge in the Kenai is just across the river from your friends in your salmon fishing on the Kenai episode
Great video. What do you mean when you said that Denali is the 3rd tallest mountain in the world? There 14 8k in the world located all in the Himalayas and Denali doesn't make it in the top 100. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying.
Hey thanks for watching! Yes, that was a typo in the script. What we meant is that Denali is the third tallest of the seven summits. We are trying to figure out how to make the correction without deleting the video.
@@ArtWeThereYet it would be hard w/o replacing the whole video. Alternatively you can ping a comment at top with a FYI saying what you just told me. Thank you for replaying. I enjoyed your video very much. I have been in Alaska and some of the places that you described. I love winter
I’m sure by now, you have been advised that Denali is no where near the 3rd tallest mountain in the world. It’s not even in the tallest 100. Let’s do better.

Wow, thank you so much for appreciating and recognizing the amount of work that goes into these episodes. It means so much!
Amazing Ice Bar and Ice sculptures. Too sad they dont last long. Such a perfection.

We drive the car separate. Unfortunately, a Prius can’t be flat towed. ☹️

Yes, it sounds like those winters are BRUTAL!! Not sure if we could do that. Winters in Seward are much more mild. But also much wetter and icier!!
@@ArtWeThereYet Do you have a video coming this week? You usually have one up on Sundays. Thanks
Beautiful state of USA.
Hi, from Philippines!
Welcome!
Yes, ton of people in the summer….but not late at night!
That's true, we were there again a couple of weeks ago around 9pm and it was almost empty.
Although there's not a village here year round, per se, I learned long ago on a Sat. AM program (Rock the Park, I believe), that the park rangers there to patrol the park via dog sled.

Yep, they do patrol via dog sled in the winter! The easiest way to get around. I grew up between Viroqua and Westby :)
I'm sorry if you said it and I missed it, but what month did you make this trip?
No worries! It was March that we did this trip. Mid March
Wow! I love your videos :) I’ve been trying to look for that Airbnb but I guess it’s not listed anymore

How come you guys don't like wheat bread for sandwiches? 🤔
We do! That was wheat bread, though the stuff we bake at home looks a lot more hearty!

It’s still the tallest in North America and it is as beautiful as Everest 🙂
