This is the BEST video for Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. We went here this past July and had to somehow piece all of this information together. We left our RV back in a campground and drove our truck in, rented a cabin, and then made it to the bridge, took a shuttle, did the Kennecott Mill Town Tour and my husband, Ralph, hiked the Root Glacier with a tour (I, Mary Kay, age 70, decided to skip that little treat). But it was complicated, trying to figure out, in advance, exactly how to do all these things. This video has EVERYTHING you need to know to plan a safe and wonderful trip, plus if you can't make it, you learn so much and if you have been, you get to relive the wonder of this amazing national park. Well done and thank you for another outstanding video!
Josh, you present amazing, interesting, informative videos, each and every time. Everything flows so fluidly, as you take us on your diverse journeys. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Pops is a great addition to the videos, TOO. THANK YOU both, so much.👏🏻🤠🤠👏🏻🛩 That was absolutely beautiful.
Pop’s jacket matches Kennecot Mine😉 Josh’s happy face on the flight…priceless😁 I definitely wanna visit this park next summer; thanks for another great video 👍
😊 I am so thankful for your UA-cam videos. As a homebound person, I am unable to explore the world sites. But through you and your family, Josh, I am able to see so many places through your camera. I thank you so much. God bless you and protect you in your journeys. Marge 😊❤
I kept saying wow, wow,.wow and oh my gosh over and over. You guys are so blessed to be able to travel together as you do and experience all you do. Thus park was WOW all the way. Thank you.
Josh, always enjoying every video, but this one in particular brought back a FLOOD of memories at the most underrated. national park of them all. So glad you and Pops finally checked this one off -- the drive to McCarthy, the town of Kennicott and all the incredible ghost-town buildings, the hike on Root Glacier, the flight -- ALL of it so incredible. And thank you for showing the tour inside the mine -- it was closed when my wife and I made it back there years ago, so I'm thankful you showed me the insides of it. Can't wait to watch the rest of your Alaska videos to come!!
Stunning & amazing video! I’ve never heard of this national park. Thank you for exploring out of the way places many of us may never go to but we appreciate you & Pops bringing us along! 🙋🏻♀️🙌🙏🏽
That blue pool was stunning. That alone is worth the price of admission. That had to be amazing flying over the park. So glad you and pops had an amazing stay there. Thanks for the video 😊
The park is absolutely huge and the views are stunning. Love the energy you put into the video, and the food looked great. I'm looking forward to more from your channel.
We were there in the 1980’s and it wasn’t a protected park at that time. The Kennecott mine / mill was wide open and we were able to explore to our hearts content. AND there was no bridge… just a tram over the water that you pulled yourself. Wild adventure! Still one of the best days in my life.
Congrats on capturing the essence of the Wrangells. I worked there several summers ago driving the Copper Town shuttle from McCarthy to Kennecott. Awesome way to spend a summer. And you guys were lucky enough to have some decent weather so as to pack in a lot of scenery and experiences. When you go back, try early to mid August when you can eat your way through the woods picking berries of every sort. Thank you for bringing back a lot of memories!
I visited Wrangell St Elias in the mid 90s while staying with a friend who lived in Fairbanks. They had a family friend who lived full time in McCarthy so we stayed with him for almost a week. You could explore everywhere (there was no lodge in Kennecott yet) and it was such an adventure! This video brought back great memories of that so thanks!
We enjoy all of your videos, but especially the ones with Pops. Getting both of your perspectives is always interesting plus some extra history. The ghost town was incredible and the sky and light before you left. Incredible. Nature really in all its glory.
Through My Lens is a safe haven. A chance to see that the world is not full of hate, homeless and crime that is so prevalent on every other UA-cam videos. Thank you.
thanks for sharing your trips, looks like so much fun traveling with your Pop's. I love to travel, but can only dream of going on some of the trips you are fortunate enough to be able to do.
We were at all the places you described a couple of years ago (including driving the McCarthy Road). Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Makes me want to go again.
Canadians and Americans should have a thanks giving day solely celebrating your nations' scenery. Being in these places is probably life changing for many people.
Great video! It would be great if after these Alaska videos you did a comparison and rank the Alaska National Parks or talk about which ones you'd recommend for what type of activities/nature, that would be awesome.
I am hoping to do a big video at the end to talk about how to visit each, the cost and things like that. Great idea to talk about what parks to visit if you are looking for specific things as well.
@@popshiking you will always have me as a subscriber! I look forward to your videos and get so many good ideas for future trips. So much is packed into each video!
Just saw the video. It was great meeting you and your dad at the lodge. Thanks for helping me reminisce. I already want to go back to Alaska!. Allan and Scott from NY. @scubareader
This park is high on my list (mainly b/c of Root Glacier) and this video made me want to go see it even more! And now I gotta make sure I do a flight seeing tour when I go as I’m sure you can’t appreciate the scale of this park otherwise. 😊
@@psychlover42 Thanks. I tried a different search method on Trip Advisor & found Kennecott although I may have actually searched with the name Kennecott
too big too cold too far... does seem like the sort of place you go when you exhausted all the other ones that are closer to get to. haha glad someone did it.

@maryfettig3378 Josh gave me a lot more credit than I was due. It wasn't that difficult but he did push himself more than I did.
Thank you for sharing. My dad was stationed in Alaska before it was a state. I never made it there but I enjoyed traveling there through and Pops.

Great Josh! Glacier was so beautiful from the air! Thank you!❤️😀🇺🇸🙏
WOW! THE MOST MAGNIFICENT PARK EVER!
It was a beautiful spot for sure!
Awesome! Thanks for that, great job and congrats on visiting the least visited park!
Thanks for the adventure! ❤
Thanks for showing such a beautiful, unique, out-of-the-way location. And for dropping $600 to show us even more!
Absolutely gorgeous. What a cool adventure. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful scenery. Gods Country. Thanks for showing us another treasure. Pops get that knee checked out.

Beautiful, stunning scenery. I think that flight was fantastic value for what you get to see.
I agree, it is so hard to comprehend these places without seeing them from above

@keestoft250 I totally agree!!
We actually have quarters dedicated to the national parks here in the States, so in some ways, we are always giving thanks to the park system.
Thanks so much for sharing this video. This isn't a trip I will be able to make myself, so it was wonderful getting to see your excellent video.
This video ain’t about f in Canada
Nonstop great videos of cool places with your dad! Keep them coming 😁
Thanks! Will do!
As per usual awesome content, big up from New Zealand ❤

Agreed, the nature and views are next level
Such a cool place! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Are you guys not worried about bears when walking through those trails alone?
Who had stopping at a waterfall for the first stop on their bingo card?😂
haha if you didn't then you need to watch more of our videos 😂

good video!
Nice those people were down there as to give one a size perspective...
haha I know right??
Josh, great video from a local! I live in Anchorage. What month did you visit Wrangell St Elias National Park?
What month did you guys visit? Weather looks perfect
We went there for a picnic 😅 We will share it soon 👍
Long drive for a picnic but amazing picnic spot haha
Great video. I’m curious about how you found a place to stay? I didn’t see anything about Kennecott Lodge on the NPS app or in Trip Advisor.
Google Maps shows hotels on it. He probably found it there.
@@psychlover42 Thanks. I tried a different search method on Trip Advisor & found Kennecott although I may have actually searched with the name Kennecott

haha wait till you see the more remote ones we go to!
I can think of a challenge to attempt - trying to find a spot in Alaska that isn’t stunning
I would like to know what hiking shoes you were using 12:41
@harishkarumanchi7244 I tend to get Merrell boots
Your brave for going in late October bro
He said he went in Summer.
Yup !! They were there in the summer.
Nice park.
haha yea, it would be a totally different experience now, this was in June
Do you know why so many bridges in Alaska are wooden?
No idea, but I would guess it is because a lot of them are pretty old?
Make the commitment n marry that girl- you going to do any better??😊
