SRV yawning, hungover, eyes looking like two holes burnt into a white blanket - picks up his Strat and starts playing a “soundcheck” that would be considered The Performance of a Lifetime by most other guitarists. Casually legendary !
In all the footage I've seen of SRV, he is spewing buckets of sweat from every pore. And then here, he walks out in a fur coat. Oh Stevie! 😜 It was a sad day when he left us.
Stevie told me that he played better "hot"...the reason why I hate summer outdoor shows is I loose too much control with the sweat on the neck. I will NEVER understand this...
G.o.a.t. - see . SRV! Stevie Ray Vaughn poured his soul through his guitar, exposed it for the world to see ,and effortlessly embrace ours through the sound waves till it gave us chills ! Rip my brother your music will never die !
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats The cat in the hat with the strat looking all pimped out and playing a sound check like it was his last time to ever hold a guitar. GOAT.
Have you heard of Jeff Healey? He was a Canadian blues artist who lost his sight to cancer he was a young child. He and Stevie performed together. Please check out Look at Little Sister where they are both performing together. Also, Jeff Healey See the light from Night Music 1988 with Dr. John on piano. 🤯
Blues flowed through his spirit - fed by his soul. SRV was blues. Long live his legacy! The MASTER. He lost his life at a venue 25 miles from my home. RIP SRV
You know, every time I watch this video, it reminds me of Larry Bird shooting the Three-Point contest in his warm up jacket! It doesn't matter what stands in the way of greatness, greatness just bulldozes right over it! I was fortunate enough to see Stevie Ray and Gregg Allman perform at the Ocean center in Daytona in 87. One of the greatest concerts I've ever been to!
I have loved all of your SRV reactions. He is by far my most favorite ever. I’ve been waiting for you to see this. I think it amazing!!! Keep reacting to SRV. There are plenty videos still out there!!!
Hey Justin👋💙So I am FINALLY getting around to commenting on your reaction😂😊😎. So how fun was that? It looks like you enjoyed it. He had just rolled out of bed, yawning, and rubbing his eyes. But once he is strapped in, no caffeine needed. The music wakes him up. This shows just how serious this group was about the music. They don't need an audience to perform at their best. The guy we see between the 2nd and 3rd songs strapping Stevie up is the the well known Rene Martinez. Rene is a classical and flamenco guitarist Stevie met at Charley's guitar shop where he was Charley's guitar tech and repair guy. Stevie worked and worked to get Rene to be his guitar tech on the road and he would even open for them often. You were quick to hear the Wah Wah pedal. Did you know that Stevie had Jimi Hendrix's pedal? Once when Jimi was playing in Austin, his pedal broke and no way to get another one on Saturday night. It happened that Jimmie Vaughan and The Fabulous Thunderbirds were opening for Jimi that night. Jimi traded him his broken pedal and $50 bucks to get a working pedal from Jimmie. Stevie played it for the rest of his life. And actually Stevie and Double Trouble once went to Jimi's father's house in Oakland when they were in the Bay Area and introduced themselves and Stevie asked his father for his blessing to cover Jimi's songs out of courtesy and respect. His father very much appreciated it. There is a photo they took with him and you can Google it and see Jimi's dad. Since I think you like to do SRV videos that are less common but interesting or different, I am pasting a link to a 1987 Daytona Beach concert where he plays Love Struck Baby. It is a fast, fun, and he takes his hat off, puts the guitar behind his head, and starts doing some boot scooting boogie dancing as well! I can't find a higher quality video but good enough to enjoy🎶💙‼️ ua-cam.com/video/zOArQNfYnow/v-deo.html
Thank you Justin. One of the very few to react to this very important video. I miss SRV every day…still. The Pride of Texas and the Greatest Ever. The sweetest, kindest most humble person.
Funny thing is that in this video, at 15:43 you can HEAR the moment Reese’s chair broke 😂 you can’t hear the legs snapping but you can hear the keys going crazy 🤣🤣
As a southern rock fan I must say that discovering Stevie forced me to expand my musical entertainment options! After all, Southern rock came from the blues!
This and the first link were both off the "In Step" album. "Tightrope" link: ua-cam.com/video/uu7haLxD2WM/v-deo.html While looking up this link I came across an SRV tribute band playing this song. If you want a link, let me know.
SRV had some STYLE.. not sayin' it was "tasteful" style.,. but he had his thang.... Who TF does their sound-check in hat & coat? well, yes, SRV.. (seems like the mic is deliberately low... giving the band & crew a chance to get those things right... he will bring the gravel in the live... don't tear it up too early ) lol (P.S. interesting he uses "alternate" guitar for some of it - guessing b/c it's not unlikely that he will break a string and have to sub...)
I heard the vocals very well....that day....I WAS THERE.....hahahaha, and you can hear me laughing when Reese Bit The Dust & kept playing.......I couldn't see Reese in the moment of collapse because Stevie & Tommy were screening me out right at that critical moment plus seeing over the B3....but it was hysterical. You can see Me in the grey sweatshirt behind Rene on the 3rd song guitar change. AND just for a tidbit......there was a purple STRAT ...well the official color was Burgundy Mist...That Jimmie V had that he whipped out earlier as we waited for Stevie to show up that day. This was video done by a KDKA TV news crew for a piece on the 6pm news that day.....I had to get them autographs hahahaha
Butter was his second favorite...... he literally saws it half on Leave My Girl Alone Austin City Limits from 1989...... you severly need to see that performance. No joke. Take care bud, great reaction!
I know I’m hella late but the 3 songs he played here were Scuttle buttin Ain’t gone n give up on love Say what (yes Stevie used a wah for the entire song)
“Ain’t Gone n Give Up on Love” at Capital Theater 1985: you can hear the guitar and the singing in arrangement similar to the sound check version. Best blues😎
I read he just woke up had played music until 7 in the morning. Slept a couple of hours got up fixed him a glass of whiskey with cocaine and it was on. He was clean 4years when he died.
SRV is always great, but how about a reaction to the great Irish blues rocker, Rory Gallagher? "All Around Man" on the Old Grey Whistle Test video is a great place to start. Rory was the equal to Clapton, Hendrix and Beck I the 70's but followed his own path, sacrificing fame for the music itself.
Enjoyed your take as always even though I've seen this many times. I checked your video history and see you haven't done "Wall of Denial" or "Tightrope" yet. If you're interested here is the first link: ua-cam.com/video/WvvbT0-UeYk/v-deo.html I'll provide the second link with another comment so YT doesn't block it.

@JustinPanarielo when I said "dirty hippie " I meant it in a great way

You knòw its GOAT status when the soundcheck gives you stank face!! Stevies soundcheck is better than 90% of the stuff being put out nowadays!!
Glad someone had the intelligence to tape this….

It's called cocaine and stage lights.
But his hands didn’t sweat…odd…man wasn’t from earth
That's a super fly coat.
I was lucky enough to see him live 5 times. Easily the best electric guitarist I’ve seen live.
Nice reaction.
Omg!! SO LUCKY!!! 🤟🏼
G.o.a.t. - see . SRV!
Stevie Ray Vaughn poured his soul through his guitar, exposed it for the world to see ,and effortlessly embrace ours through the sound waves till it gave us chills ! Rip my brother your music will never die !
The ONE and ONLY SRV!!!
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats
The cat in the hat with the strat looking all pimped out and playing a sound check like it was his last time to ever hold a guitar. GOAT.
The ONLY man to perform Jimi better than Jimi!!!!!
Stevie Ray Vaughan is best GOAT on this EARTH! Rest in peace ❤😢
CAN u imagine JUST getting out of bed and being able to play like this !!
Have you heard of Jeff Healey? He was a Canadian blues artist who lost his sight to cancer he was a young child. He and Stevie performed together. Please check out Look at Little Sister where they are both performing together.

YES!, Debbie! Jeff & Stevie on "Look at Little sister" - !
Blues flowed through his spirit - fed by his soul. SRV was blues. Long live his legacy! The MASTER. He lost his life at a venue 25 miles from my home.
RIP SRV
Watched this many times . If that’s a soundcheck get ready for one hell of a concert ..Even Clapton had to find out who he was , what a compliment …
SRV gave more during a Sound Check than most top guitarist during their best performances...
Never seen someone... meaning a person, so connected to an instrument in my life
''Freak'' just got out of bed. With, I'm certain, a humungous hangover, from what not. And does THIS?????? What a legend.
Step one: wipe sleep from eyes
Step two: big yawn
Step three: Beast Mode
You know, every time I watch this video, it reminds me of Larry Bird shooting the Three-Point contest in his warm up jacket! It doesn't matter what stands in the way of greatness, greatness just bulldozes right over it!

We saw the same show in Louisville Kentucky., Fabulous thunderbirds were there as well....banging show
This is so badass. Just woke up, eyes look like two piss holes in a snow bank, and rips it.
He could just turn it on or off when he wanted, just like flipping a switch, what a musician, gone too soon.......
Nobody does it like Stevie RIP

The sweetest, kindest most humble person.
Lots of reactors have done this. This video has almost 22 million views!
I hope I am listening to him when I die....🎉
I was lucky enough to see SRV 5 times in concert. The best guitarist I have ever seen live. Incredible.
Funny thing is that in this video, at 15:43 you can HEAR the moment Reese’s chair broke 😂 you can’t hear the legs snapping but you can hear the keys going crazy 🤣🤣
He had been up all night playing music .slept a couple of hours got up had whiskey and cocaine walked out with his Superfly coat on started shredding.
thank god I got to see him in 1983 😎
Seen him the show before his last at Alpine Valley. Have never recovered from the shock of losing him.
I'd like to suggest "Mary had a Little Lamb" on Austin City Limits, and "Couldn't Stand the Weather," by SRV.
I believe I've done both.. they are on my channel.
And he's just warming up.
His flow sets him apart, always in the pocket rarely early or late with his play.
Sound check that rocked your world!
As a southern rock fan I must say that discovering Stevie forced me to expand my musical entertainment options! After all, Southern rock came from the blues!
The Blues were born in the south and so was SRV. We lost him way too soon.
This and the first link were both off the "In Step" album. "Tightrope" link: ua-cam.com/video/uu7haLxD2WM/v-deo.html While looking up this link I came across an SRV tribute band playing this song. If you want a link, let me know.

So nice had to comment twice🔥
One of my favorites, gone too soon just like Jimi.
Oh...you watched this. Right on.
"I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we've passed the audition."
Heh, Ringo would love the quote.
Butter was his second favorite...... he literally saws it half on Leave My Girl Alone Austin City Limits from 1989...... you severly need to see that performance. No joke. Take care bud, great reaction!
Long live the 80's

he just got outa bed and he ain't gonna stress his voice before the show
😎👍
What can you say, the cat loved music.
If I wasn't a homeless veteran. You're straight I'd support you $$. But thanks for being!.
Eip Steve gone but not forgotten ever
For SRV vocals, please try Ain't Gon Give Up On Love and Change It both live at The Capitol Theatre 💞✌️
ReSearch.......The storie of THIs DAY. Crazy.....
G O A T.....
I read he just woke up had played music until 7 in the morning. Slept a couple of hours got up fixed him a glass of whiskey with cocaine and it was on. He was clean 4years when he died.
That mix, ouch. But it's SRV, so I still enjoyed. Thanks JP.
enjoyed seeing the roll of toilet paper shamelessly sitting on the desk.
Its a monitor vocal check and out front band sound check.
Res is so good on the organ
Didn't need caffeine. A guitar in his hands was all that was needed.
I still wonder how it's possible to get this sound out of a Strat...
he had a rough night ,lol
He's just stretching those fence wires out into music
He just woke up

can you believe that on 13 heavies
Mr Strong finger s
Reese, his incredible organ/keyboardist, has been with Joe Bonamassa the last 15 yrs and Joe’s almost on SRV’S level
I saw Chris Layton, SRV's drummer a few months ago playing with Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
Bonnamassa plays pop blues,no where close to stevies play.
Infamous does not mean what you think it means
a phenomenon.... no doubt 🎸🎸🎸
Let's see Clapton do that.
Clapton got nothing on it lol
Cool thing about Srv is how he knows when not to play. Unmatched at the blues.
The keyboard fell
And, it's just a sound check.
I think he's playing a riff from the Rolling Stones can't you hear me knockin around the 3:30 mark.
Dont ever mix real blues with the stones ,stevie was miles ahead of those old farts.jagger and his aerobics.
@@stewartwhitten9036 The Stones song is from the Mick Taylor era and he’s a really good blues player.
