You got it right, so many Negan “defenders” say that Rick “started” it by attacking first (even though the bikers started it with Sasha, Abe, and Daryl), but you’re right, the Saviors were inevitable, and needed to be dealt with, but they weren’t ready.
There is no deal-making with Negan and the Saviors. Alexandria was on the Saviors' radar. We see this when Carol was acosted by the Saviors on the road. They were on their way to Alexandria.
On the way to Alexandria doesn't mean on the way to kill Glenn and Abraham. Negan can be negotiated with. Saviors had an ongoing deal with The Kingdom that was being honored as negotiated, a deal which still allowed Ezekiel to continue leading The Kingdom and didn't involve turning it into a Savior outpost or anything like that. Rick drew first blood against Negan before they could even meet each other or make any deal between the communities. This would only make Negan assume that Rick can't be negotiated with and would need to be brought to heel.
@Alwaysmantis yeah, tell that to Oceanside. Btw, where are their boys and men? And tell that to The Kingdom when they're ONE item short. And the icky trash people. What happened to them? Negan's system did NOT "save" them; rather, it oppressed them (even his "wives"). Under Negan's leadership, the vulnerable were supressed, and bullies thrived. With Negan, people are not saved; they die. Each community has the right to self-determination. Bottom line, Negan was wrong.
This is what Negan does to communities, Hilltop, Oceanside, that library (where the guy with the A sprayed on his chest was from) and I can say the Kingdom since you are a season ahead. It would not have mattered if Alexandria attacked or not... it would have happened. This wasn't revenge for Negan, this is how he owns ALL the communities. So for them to want to take the saviors out first was the right plan, the arrangement with Hilltop was right, they just didn't investigated the Saviors enough.
@@ThegoatTK Negan did the SAME thing to Oceanside, Hilltop and the Kingdom. You really think that if Rick's group didn't kill all those saviors that Negan wouldn't have did this? He terrifies a group and kills one of them, exactly what he did here. It wasn't because of his people getting killed or he would have just killed Rick and co... it wasn't done out of revenge it was done to control the group and supply his people.
"Maggie, I'll find you." Never fails to get me. Glenn was my favorite since the beginning so was sobbing the first (2nd, 3rd ,every time) I watched it.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it already but in the comics Glen was the only person Negan kills. Jeffery Dean does a great job and portraying the Negans character. His dialogue is close to the comic as well.

I think it was the after show The Talking Dead that said before this Series 7 ep 1 aired, to make sure you was with someone when you watched this show, it was the best and scariest warning any show ever had. In the UK we had 2 premiers. The first was about 4 am and was totally uncut, then the later showing was edited. The shock was equal. Great reaction guys.
I'm surprised Negan said so many F-words in his introduction. When I saw the episode he didn't say any, I think. I guess it's a second version of the episode, uncensored lol
@@KamandaHickey The difference between Rick and Negan's cowardness is that Rick was on the front lines and chose a safe option to defend his people and their allies from enslavement while also gaining a supply of food that would also keep his people fed. Negan would've sent some soldiers to go enslave a group of innocent strangers for food, all while he sleeps with a random woman who has to blackmail for romance.
I totally understand Ilias and Prophet...however AJ was str8 spitting. Regardless of whatever it wouldve been a problem....somebody wouldve died the minute negan's crew wouldve bump into Rick's group. Thats their M.O.....like the biker group we first met literally said it "usually we kill one of you and you take us back to your community so you know we mean business"......at that point we was loosing sasha and abraham. Until daryl was like "NOT TODAY SATAN".
True. It seems like some people forget that exchange with Daryl, Abe , and Sasha with the bikers. They would have died at the Saviors' hands. But Daryl got em first. So THAT was the first strike, which they lost.
@rhetoricalmode1917 yeah exactly! That encounter alone that Daryl, Sasha and Abe had with the saviors on the road furthermore motivated Rick to take out their post when they saw that the saviors were also capable of sending Hilltop a message with one of hilltop's own that got Gregory stabbed.

Completely agree with AJ, the only other moments I’ve felt like this while watching tv is TWD 5x1 (watched live so it was insane) and the red wedding from GOT. The suspense is fucking unreal
AJ was right. The Saviors were going to come to Alexandria sooner or later. The car that stopped Carol was on the way to Alexandria until she stopped them. The group made so many mistakes this season. Everyone kept going on solo missions and that's why they got caught.
definitely one of the most graphic and realistic looking shit I've seen in a tv show. But THAT is how you introduce an anatagonist, holy shit. Both Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) and Andrew Lincoln (Rick) deserved a grammy for their performance in those 2 episodess, the acting was peak level. And I agree with both of your sides .. it would've happened sooner or later anyways but they definitely should've done more research before fucking with them I mean that way they still might've had a chance of at least planning ahead, hiding food or weapons somewhere getting an idea of how many there are and training preparing the people somehow or something.. well to late for that now. And a lot of people might've mentioned it already but remember what Dr. Jenner from the CDC said to Rick in the finale of season 1 when he said he was grateful he opened the door to let them keep trying? He said „the day will come when you won't be“, just like 7x1 episode title👀 yikes..
@@mrsfahrenheit yes, it's hard to watch a movie without thinking, are they a child molester. So corrupt. But TWD has real genuine actors, not wanna be rich idiots. I met 17 actors from the show, real down to earth people
This is why it bothers me so much. I don't understand why the guy in the orange and I'm sorry if I don't know your name talking like what Rick and them did for food was a bad idea. The group attacked them two times before they met with hilltop they just didn't know who the group was. The plan was to not only get food that they desperately needed otherwise they would have died slowly of starvation, But to attack the group that attacked them first and strike them first before they would have became a bigger problem. The only problem is they did not fully know who negan was. They didn't know how big the group was. every plan has a risk you either don't do it and starve or you do do it and risk a war against the group you don't know nothing about, but you do know they attacked you twice before and they're willing to kill you come to your home and take whatever they want. They knew that much before they met with hilltop before they came up with the plan to kill them in their sleep so stop acting like it was a bad idea cuz they had no choice
@5star1z that's right he had to just like any leader he has to protect or get revenge for his people . Which is exactly the same thing Rick had to do he had to get food for himself and his people. When you have no other options you got to do what you got to do
Comic Comparisons: In the comics Glenn is the only death The RV trip with Rick and the threat of having Rick cut off Carl’s arm doesn’t happen in the comics Negan kills Glenn and then walks off in the same way he does here Ta ta Line for line the Lucille moment was the same Taking it like a champ Lucille is a vampire bat I just hit you so goddamn hard your eyeball just popped out And it is gross as shit Negan’s time has only just begun. Fun Fact: The title for this episode is the same thing Jenner told him at the CDC back on the Season 1 finale when Rick told him he was grateful that Jenner was letting them go That day has come now.
All these years later and I still haven't forgiven Negan🤷♀️🤣The wait back then to find out who he killed was such a huge part of pop culture. It was everywhere!
100% this was gonna happen wether they helped the hilltop or they didn't, remember Abraham, daryl and Sasha ran into some saviors back when the horde thing happened, Alexandria has been on their radar since then cause they merked like 10 of them, I do think though that maybe it wouldn't have been as bad as this cause by now they've killed like 40 saviors
Comic Comparisons : In the comics the group goes to Hilltop for sole purpose of getting Maggie Glenn and Sophia (she is still alive at this point in the comics Glenn and Maggie took care of her after Carol committed suicide) After Dwight’s attack on Alexandria Glenn and Maggie agreed Hilltop would be a safer place for both them and Sophia and the group decides to escort them There’s no pregnancy complication. The roadblocks don’t happen in the comics The group stops for the night and that’s when The Saviors grab them There’s no kidnapping other members or putting their belongings on display Eugene doesn’t try to cause a distraction. Morgan and Carol’s whatever it was doesn’t happen in the comics because neither of them are alive at this point. Negan’s entrance in the show is damn near for line as in the comics save for in the comics Negan uses a considerable amount of F-Bombs and various other curses which you can hear on the Blu Ray DVD and it’s the uncensored version The eeny-meeny-miney-moe is one of the most iconic scene in TWD history This episode is damn near flawless and this arc is gonna bring the best one liners and badass moments of the entire show.
It also happened in a milestone issue,#100,and the previous issues dealing to it kept teasing something big happening with close ups of saviors holding different weapons, including the chainsaw dude, which was also included in the show except he appears briefly in the background, the arc was called "something to fear",the lineup was also different, mainly because of Heath and Sophia,Maggie also fights Rick right after Negan leaves, for not doing anything to prevent Glenns death and Carl threatens to shoot her. Comic was wild.

Here for the reaction - I stay tuned for the bickering.
😂 it’s all love though, twd really gets us emotionally 🙏
This is what Negan does to communities, Hilltop, Oceanside, that library (where the guy with the A sprayed on his chest was from) and I can say the Kingdom since you are a season ahead. It would not have mattered if Alexandria attacked or not... it would have happened. This wasn't revenge for Negan, this is how he owns ALL the communities. So for them to want to take the saviors out first was the right plan, the arrangement with Hilltop was right, they just didn't investigated the Saviors enough.
Exactly 💯. He’s a Tyrant.
Exactly. Morgan's plan would not have made a difference. The Saviors don't save anymore; they own them.
It was definitely for revenge if the roles were reversed Rick would’ve done the same thing but worse.
@@ThegoatTK It was done for revenge but also because this is just what Negan does.
Lol AJ "they can show eyeballs poppin out, but the sensor f words"
"Maggie, I'll find you." Never fails to get me. Glenn was my favorite since the beginning so was sobbing the first (2nd, 3rd ,every time) I watched it.
I met the actors of Glenn and Abraham a year before their deaths on the show and they were sooo sweet & funny😭 I was TRAUMATIZED when I watched the season premiere😭 this episode definitely changed the show moving forward. It was crazyyyyy
Not sure if anyone mentioned it already but in the comics Glen was the only person Negan kills. Jeffery Dean does a great job and portraying the Negans character. His dialogue is close to the comic as well.
Morgan and all the characters change their ways all the time. One episode you like someone and the next you don’t. I love watching you guys!
I firmly believe that 7x1 is the greatest piece of art in television history.
"Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable"
- Cesar A. Cruz
Y’all told us. Y’all are real I swear one of the best reactions channels 💯
They killed Glen the Exact same way in the comic. Abraham didt die like that tho
AJ talking about "laughing during emotional scenes" when he shouted "LETS GO!" at Lori's death... 💀
Oh man the moment we all have been waiting for, good thinking putting these in the same reaction! We all felt exactly how you three feel.
I never sub to patron ( still haven't) but when I saw this pop on my notifications I clicked it and started watching, I wasn't paying attention thinking this was just a review of 6x16 not 7x1 also and my ass was searching the link for y'alls patron, just to see the 7x1 reaction. So I just wanted to comment to say thank you gentlemen, your forethought and care for your community to do a double feature is what makes y'all one of the greats here on UA-cam.
It is. Obviously
The uncensored version is stupidm
season 6, 7, 10&11 are my favorite i can’t lie.
I remember watching this live back when I was in college, I couldn’t go to class the next day from the trauma 😂😂😂
most hyped video ever it’s been a journey
Never seen prophet so quiet … the boy is traumatized
He was so quiet, like yall go ahead 😂😂 poor guys, tough episode but a big part of the story. So much more to go!
The normal version of the finale without all the swearing is much better by the way. It's a lot more tense and scary. 2 Incredible episode though!!
6:20 “GTA character” is Steven Ogg, who was the voice of Trevor in GTA
when i watched it the first time, i couldn't hate Negan, because he played in one of my favorite shows-SUPERANTURAL
I always seen Negan as a coward, one that use intimidation to keep someone in check.
you are totally wrong sir. Intimidation doesn't make you a coward. he has some mega sized balls, keeping his group in line. he IS a leader
A coward really?! So what is killing people in their sleep? 🧐
Negans group is the equivalent of an apocalyptic mafia
It’s not being a coward to do things in the most efficient way while keeping himself alive
Profit jus sittin there thinkin bout the pancakes he had for breakfast while u guys arguing 😂😂actual G
Negan, #1 villain of all time! Good reaction guys!
All time? 💀
Great reaction 👍
I was devastated while watching this episode. I always felt like Glenn was invincible..and the way he was killed so brutally, while his pregnant (and sick) wife watched.. 😩 😢 it still makes me sob
52:55 this middle guy keeps telling the two on the side to shut up so he can explain his thoughts while never letting them get a word in ☠️ no wonder the other two reactors don’t like to butt in lol
Lol, they did the F-bomb version
Negans people attacked 1st, they went after Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham, the motorcycle guys
Yep, totally. People seem to forget that.
Not on negans orders though, doesn't count. Ricks group attacked first.
@@brittanylewandowski6200 Doesn't matter if he didn't know. Negan was giving psychopaths power to rob and kill people, all while also enslaving communities. People who try to stop their enslavement don't deserve death. Just because he didn't order the attacks doesn't negate the fact that those attacks were done by HIS men.
Negan didn’t even know
@@clawz6731 agreed
7x1 is the best episode in TV history for me !
Everything in the episode was perfect, the acting, the directing, the music, the shocks, and the acting again. Man, Andrew Lincoln is so great. I have never seen an actor who masters the role like him in my life. He is truly great. Rest in peace Glenn and Abraham 💔
Finally🎉 been anticipating these episodes for a while
9:54
“started a war without even researching the numbers they have”
That is definitely one of the most accurate statements about the situation in the show
Man i remember the wait between 6x16 and 7x1, Finding out who negan killed was the biggest tv event at that time.
that cliffhanger seriously made everyone watching the series die inside back then, it was a lot of months waiting for october for twd to come back 😂
The dude on the right is THE ONLY ONE who talks FACTS, the orange guy is so ignorant and pissed of if someone tells something different, disrespectful behavior against the dude in the right
Completely agree with AJ, the only other moments I’ve felt like this while watching tv is TWD 5x1 (watched live so it was insane) and the red wedding from GOT. The suspense is fucking unreal
OMG The Red Wedding traumatized me more than this. It was an insane episode of GOT.
What is red wedding
@@IIIISai its from game of thrones
Best villain of all time best reaction. I enjoyed your guys as reactions so much.
Negan is a great villain, but definitely not the best of all time
who is for you? @@_Yombo
Ya but we all know the Grammys are fixed
@@hippielady123 just like everything else in the business hahh👀😪 sadly
🎯
Fax
I agree but negan also did for himself and his people.
@5star1z that's right he had to just like any leader he has to protect or get revenge for his people . Which is exactly the same thing Rick had to do he had to get food for himself and his people. When you have no other options you got to do what you got to do
I was legit depressed at work the next day
I love the banter in the middle of both eps lol the black hoodie guy is the mediator haha.
I didn't realize you got the comic cut of Negan's monologue, you got 50% of the rest of his dialogue through the rest of the comics 😂
No fools, Negans people attacked them first, TWICE. So Ricks attack wasnt the start at all, they were always gonna find Alexandria.
Yup
Exactly
Bro that lines from Simon
5:48 - Plenty ways to get where you going.
18:45 - Welcome to where you going
I agree! The Saviors would have eventually found Alexandria and taken over.
All these years later and I still haven't forgiven Negan🤷♀️🤣The wait back then to find out who he killed was such a huge part of pop culture. It was everywhere!
Fun fact: They filmed deaths for every person in the lineup to avoid spoilers/leaks
Anywayz Nomads thanks for this double episode upload!!!!! Yak ya'll are my fave!! ❤
I remember how traumatized I was that day 😭😭😭😭
Lol
Comic was wild.
lol this era of TWD was intense. All the emotions are activated on this one 🤣
Man this episode had everybody in a choke hold. It was the biggest talk across the world. It's still hard for me to watch today. The group was never the same after 😢
Basically they Negan people were coming for them. Every time they ran into them they legitimately were on their way to Alexandria.
Finally y’all see the heart breaking episode
This episode along with season 9 episode 15 were the most heartbreaking and emotional moments of this series.
This is the first time I’ve seen the uncensored version and it is so much better this is literally my favourite show of all time and I’ve never seen this somehow
Jesus. That summer ? We got to wait so long for season 7. People were crazy speculation who it was 😂
Ngl all day yesterday I watched to see a post came in clutch fr
I have never seen you guys so quiet as when Negan was talking. .. .Incredibly tense!
When Negan speaks, people listen 😈
I come here for walking dead but I stay for ilyas,Aj content 😂😂, prophet is so shook he hasn't spoken 😂
We’ve been waiting for y’all to get here 😂. Top tier reaction all three of y’all were speechless. Can you imagine how we felt years ago having to wait a whole week to know who it was. I still get anxiety watching this, good episode guys ❤
It's beyond me that the one in the middle acted without any compassion for any character except 1 when 2 episodes before he was lecturing AJ because he was happy with the death of Denise, a character that everyone doesn't care about. It's not because you like Morgan that you have to start despising everyone who is not in his line of thinking and he is far from having always made the right decisions.
It's the bat hitting and hitting that gets to me! I'm literally shaking
Ok
You guys talking about Carol when she wasn’t even there 😂
I love hearing your reasoning of how we got here! Brutal episodes.
menn, Abraham was so fearless, face to death was so bravest character of twd
I skip these episodes when I rewatch the series. It hurts so bad. I'm trying to watch this whole video. I love watching your reactions.
Me too! It's hard to watch
I giggled when you all said Rosita's story was about over.
