Ricks arc and Morgan's arc and Tyrese's story and daryls story to come not to mention the new characters plus Carol's arc....
I think the reason the governor kicked ricks ass is the governor had the upper hand. He was eating, drinking and relaxing hatching his plan. While rick went on a run with Carol, kicked carol out, got back from the run and had to fight walkers all night. Everyone got back and they all went to check on the sick ppl, then here comes the gocernor. Rick has no sleep or eat time

Back when this episode aired you couldn’t go anywhere without people talking about this episode I just remember this episode having such a huge impact on people I was in 9th grade at the time (now graduated oh how time flies) and I just remember hearing for an entire week about how Hershel was dead I had no clue on how the show would have a huge impact on all of us at the time.
This is one of the episodes that makes you remember what The Walking Dead is about, Hershell's death was so sad.. the way he was smiling before he died.. and the acting in this episode.. the actors were on FIRE

I believe the governor was originally supposed to die at the end of season 3 but I much prefer this. Closer to the comic books and we wouldn't have gotten the tank.
Either there or at S5 EP 11 when they make it to Alexandria. That would've been the perfect ending to TWD. Screw the wolves, saviors, whispers and commonwealth stuff.
When Carl was crying about his sister that got too me especially after Hershel.
it’s so crazy when carl said he could end it all right now and how he was a good shot, because looking back now i thought when rick shot first it hit the governor but it was carl.
R.I.P to Hershel great character who brought so much love his theme song R.I.P to the actor Scott Wilson who played this character and who sadly passed away from Leukemia 5 years ago Oct 6 2018 Age 76 He was the ultimate voice of reason right next to Dale and R.I.P to the Governor as well who was a great villain and did a great job at making us hate him great work by David Morrissey portraying this character.
I remember crying like a real family member had died during this episode. Hershel's death hit me hard. You guys have become my favorite TWD reactors ♥️
Literally one of the best episodes of the series still to this day Carl & Rick’s performance at the end of the episode when they realize Judith was eaten right out of her car seat STILL gives me chills to this day I’m so excited for you guys to continue this show I feel so bad for everyone but Carl especially because he tried warning Rick about the Governor & told Daryl he had a shot & they just lost everything Within a couple months he lost his uncle Shane had to put the Walker one down after Rick killed him lost his Mom Lori & had to put her down & now lost the prison and nearly everyone there😭
There are three episodes that are really tough for me to re watch. This is one of them. Hershel was my favorite character. A sweet little old man. This wrecked me!

I remember when this episode first came out People were in shock but I'm glad that the governor ended up dying in the same episode. Herschel was probably one of the best characters on The Walking Dead.
The TWD theme is always a great background after a great dramatic opening scene It just adds so much dramatic tension imo.
Waaay back the first time I saw this episode, I finally let loose and cried when Carl did. That was my breaking point, seeing Judith's car seat. Keep watching guys, and eventually you'll see the legends.
I remember watching this when the episode first aired. I cried hysterically. Other deaths were hard to see, but I haven’t reacted to other deaths the way I reacted to Hershel’s.
Comic Comparisons : in the comics It’s Tyreese who gets decapitated his comic counterpart is actually introduced much earlier than in the show before they get to the farm the battle for the prison goes down a bit different The Governor is presumed dead for a while before he randomly shows up at the prison gates It should be noted that the Governor never kills all of his people or burns down Woodbury so he still had an army with him him becoming Brian Heriot is completely unique to the show I can’t remember exactly but I think their first attack failed Nonetheless they eventually bust through and kill a lot of people Hershel does die in this battle in the comics but not in the same way He begs to be killed after his son is shot right in front of him and the Governor grants him that Rick tries to escape with Lori and Judith but Lori who is carrying Judith is shot and falls to the ground killing both her and the baby after the Governor successfully wins the prison Lily who was already a member of Woodbury and dealt the killing shot on Lori realizes she also killed a baby and gets mad at the Governor when the Governor shows no remorse she shoots him dead in the head after that nothing more is said about the Woodbury group.
Damn that’s very dark but shame governor goes out like that in the comics after all he’s just done lol
Given how much the show deviated from the source material, I would love to see some studio or company do a motion comic like was done with The Watchmen.

It’s a shame , governor seemed to like and respect Hershel , so makes no sense he would kill him lol - knowing he has kids like governor did and knows how it feels. And notice the liar reference was the same as on the tree it was beheaded and he did it to Hershel .

'is too much to talk about' ... and that's why they had a show called 'Talking Dead' that aired after the show (back in the days when we would have to wait each week for an ep and 6 mths between mid seasons finales and finales) ... the whole point of the 'Talking Dead' show was to process everything that happened in the show. It would have actors from the show on it and social media participation for general perspectives of the audience etc. First time I ever saw a show that needed an after show to process all the bloody trauma! F'cking great show. I miss it back in it's heyday .. but I enjoy watching new people find it. I am an Uber Geek!! ;)

Exactly.... GOT and TWD fans used to go at it on Twitter on who had the best series. This episode used to rival some of GOTs greatest. I was just happy to enjoy both shows, but of course I always picked The Walking Dead.
Yeah I cried so hard about Hershel. DAMN I HATE THE GOVERNOR. I still have him on my shit list all these years later. Thank God for Michonne. She sliced right through that bitch and she definitely didn't finish him off because she wanted him to turn. Some say Daryl was the mvp but no I say it's Michonne for taking down the biggest most evil villain.

Great reaction! This show has 3 legendary "bad guys", and the Governor was just the first. The villains that go longer than one season are some of the best in TV. And even though he rolled up in a tank and destroyed the prison AND killed Hershel, another legendary character, the Governor is the weakest of the 3 baddies. You guys are in for a ride when bad guy #2 gets introduced.

Y'all seem to forget that Rick was dealing with a whole lotta people who were sick and he was kicking ass around camp including trying to keep the fences up after walkers knocked them down. Rick was wasted in terms of being dead ass tired and exhausted. I hate that shithead got the best of him, but I get that it was just the night before he and Carl were taking out walkers. And Michonne, not to knock her any cause she's badass...but she put a sword through that shithead from behind. I would have rather him see it coming, but it wasn't quite a one-on-one while he was still choking Rick out.

easy one of the best episodes of TWD, there are still a lot of the bests to come but this is one of it. Season 4 in general has a couple of those actually they outdid themselves storywise this season. And I love that you are with me on the Governor hate train 🫱🏻🫲🏼😂 this fuckin mf man... Hershel's death is one of the most painful ones in tv history
