Thank you, thank you, thank you! I used this technique and it worked. It took a total of twenty minutes to fix both. They haven't worked for about seven years!

Thank you for taking the time to show how to do this. I had the same controller and problem. This took care of the pair of them.

Sweet! My controls have not worked for a number of years. Found your video. I used a Wagner paint gun to heat things up. The old LCD screens go completely black when heated ( I used that as a threshold for how long to heat), pressed on the black "glue" area with a plastic guitar pick, and then as they cool, LCD returns to normal. Both controls work again in about 15min!! Random information; there is no reason to heat the LCD screen by itself (only glue area), there are no connections behind the LCD screen.

THANKS! I just happened to run across this video and used this method to rejuvenate a wired remote that has been unreadable and basically unresponsive for 5+ years. Have patience - it took me 2 tries to get it back in operation but IT DOES work.

Yep! Worked for our wired controller from bed purchased in 2006. Called Sleep Number who said they would give us 24% credit, but we'd have to purchase new pump and controller set up for $445. Got LCD beyond completely black on second try. Now working like new. Many thanks for posting this!

Tried this today! It works! Took me three times of heating it up. The pump wouldn't even respond before. Now it works like it is brand new! Thank you so much!

Just did it and it worked! The darn LCD was not working for years and I was contemplating dropping $300 on a replacement pump+wired remotes. No need for that now.

Glad it worked. It might not be a permanent fix but lasted a while for me

Thank you. I was able to restore the display in both controllers from virtually blank. I used the slanted end of a block pencil eraser to press down on the contact strip, both on the LCD and on the circuit board -- a suggestion I saw on another UA-cam video. The first side took 2 tries, the second side took 4 tries.

Just repaired one of the two wired remotes, thanks to this video. The key (for me) was evenly "pushing" (lightly) on the black strip at the bottom of the screen, with a pink eraser...once the screen was heated with a hair dryer. It took me a few re-heats to get it. I am anxious to see how long it lasts, but it is working for the moment. Beats the > $300 replacement or used eBay purchase. Thanks!

I had to do the same on the black strip with an eraser.. But it finally worked!!

Unbelievable! I should have looked this up years ago! We were just about to give the bed away and I figured I didn't have anything to lose, why not try this fix. It's amazing to see all the numbers again after years of guessing! Thank you!

Wow! This worked for me. I just purchased an used sleep number queen bed with the wired remotes and no numbers were visible. First one took four times and firm pressing a the cable junction, second one took five times, but got both 100 percent again. Hope it lasts. Thank you so much for posting

Aha, I've repaired my remote before watching this video.
Now I needed to do it again and I've been searching for this video for several days.
    Ahhhhhhhh.
I'm gonna fix my remote 1st thing tomorrow.
I'm old enough to remember when we had absolutely no way of repairing things like there is today.
I've saved thousands of dollars repairing my own appliances since youtube. Now you can find a repair video on anything.
50 years ago, if you wanted a repair part for your car, you'd get your trusty J.C. Whitney catalog, fill out the order form, go to the post office or bank, or corner store to get a money order.
Then you'd seal the money order and order form in an envelope and mail it.
2 weeks later the part came.
    2 weeks.
Now you can get that same part the same day.
Thanks to the maker of this video.
    I've got a sleep number bed, model# PFCS03-DT
    S/N 2/7/2005-140xx.
I'm looking for the user manual and Sleep Number only goes back to 2008.
If anyone has a copy to help me I'd appreciate it..

This worked great. Controllers were at least 10 yrs old. No possible way to figure out what number was on the screen. Now the screens operate at 100%. The sleep number is back. No more guessing. I really put the heat to the screens until they were both completely black. Then I pressed on the front and back of the lcd screen. Had to heat both screens up twice before I got everything back.

Thanks. My bed is over 12 yrs. old and both LCD screens my remotes for my queen bed didn't show anything on them. Your video helped me get them back to full functioning LCD screen again on both!

This just happened to be the same unit I have. I had to reheat it about 5 times and then found if I use a pencil with a rubber eraser I could press down until the segment returned while
heating then let it cool. I have back 99% of the segments. Close enough. I had ZERO segments before I started. Thanks!

Thanks for this, I had to do 4 heat ups, and unplug the pump for a reset. Works great now.

This is a great video. I did this on my wireless remote, took 4 tries and got it so hot the screen turned completely black but it works perfect now.

It does work, although if you had a completely blank display (like me) it could take about 30 minutes of heat and press alternating.

The fix only worked for a couple months now my display is blank again. I am thinking of trying again. I am wondering if I could apply something to apply pressure to the contacts
while the case is closed hoping that will be a better longer fix.

How long did this last for any of you? How often have you had to redo this process to get it to work again?

    • @evadaniels5234
      @evadaniels5234 4 роки тому +1

I found just using it regularly keeps it alive. If you don’t adjust it from time-to-time it requires this fix again.

I have heated my controller about 7 times now and I can't get the upper portion of the numbers to display. Should I give up before I ruin the controller?

This appears only to be a temp solution. Can't see the numbers anymore on mine. I am going to try it again though. Lasted about 2 months

It may only last awhile but try to find a replacement now. Ridiculous. It's impossible.
