Love these guys. An easy favorite of the last 10-15 years. Love the EP Gold and Silver Sessions also and DiSalvo's solo album Hirschbrunnen is pretty awesome. Not to mention the killer Elder/Kadavar collaboration Eldovar. My ranks: 5 - Elder 4 - Omens 3 - Dead Roots Stirring 2 - Lore 1 - Reflections of a Floating World
Without revisiting them all... 1. Dead Roots Stirring 2. Omens 3. Reflections of a Floating World 4. Lore 5. Elder But none are bad. I mean, the debut effing rocks!
Really tough to put these in any order but I think I’d go: 1. Omens 2. Lore 3. Reflections of a Floating World 4. Dead Roots Stirring 5. Elder The Gold & Silver Sessions is fantastic as well!
Only recently got into this band as I did my "deep dive" into Stoner and Psych Rock. My rankings could change after a few more listens! They are definitely one of the better recent bands. Much more eclectic and diverse than their peers in the sub genre. 1. Lore 2. Reflections of a Floating World 3. Elder 4. Dead Roots Stirring 5. The Gold & Silver Sessions 6. Omens 7. Eldovar
Saw them seven years ago down in Seattle opening for Spirit Caravan, fantastic show. 1. Lore. 2. Reflections of a Floating World. 3. Elder. 4. Spires Burn / Release ep. 5. Omens. 6. The Gold & Silver Sessions ep. 7. Dead Roots Stirring.
I really enjoyed listening to "Lore" after seeing them on this month's SOT series. I"ll be checking out "Reflections of a Floating World" next, thanks Pete!
Along with Earthless and Weedpecker (in this genre), one of my favorite bands that are maturing and putting out killer stuff. 1. Floating 2. Omens 3. Lore 4. Roots 5. Elder
Noticed that these guys were playing at a new club in town. I've heard about them on the channel (but never heard them) so me and a buddy are going to go see them, hearing unheard, tomorrow. They're with Ruby the Hatchet and Dreadnought, both of which I know only in passing.
Good move! Seen them several times, including the tour opener week before last here in bklyn, phenomenal as ever… Ruby the Hatchet are alright, kinda cool retro keyboard forward hard rock with a good female lead singer, They did a good cover of Uriah Heep’s ‘Easy Livin’. Missed openers Dreadnought so I can’t say anything about what they’re like live. Some footage I got of Elder attached below if you care to get a taste of what you’ve got to look forward to… ua-cam.com/video/0A2f8JEQF88/v-deo.html
Ruby the Hatchet is also great. Female fronted energetic vintage rock proto-metal band. I'm jealous. Heard of Dreadnought but haven't given them a listen yet.
Thanks for the ranking, for me they check all the boxes. They`re definitely on my list of newer must hear bands. "Reflections" is probably my favorite.
Fantastic pick pete! Really consistent band and has some unreal musical passages. They just don't disappoint My ranking Dead roots stirring Lore Reflections of a floating world Omens Elder
I find ranking their records kinda difficult, since Omens, Reflections and Lore are pretty much tied for me. I love them all very dearly, just for very different reasons. Innate Passage for sure is their best album yet though! So my ranking (if we're counting EP's) is as follows: 1. Innate Passage 2. Omens, Reflections of a Floating World, Lore 3. The Gold & Silver Sessions 4. Dead Roots Stirring 5. Spires Burn/Release 6. Elder It's not as if I think their self titled is even at all bad, I just don't find it particularly interesting. But it's still a fun album!
Thanks for this. I know next to nothing about prog rock. Really like these guys but wasn't sure what to make of their later stuff. Im going to revisit Lore tonight.
Saw them last night! I also bought records of Lore and Omens for my revived mini-vinyl collection so I can look at 'em on the wall. They sold out of Reflections earlier in the tour. I like to look at the stats of most played albums on setlist.fm. Those would be: 1. Reflections of a Floating World. 2. Lore 3. Dead Roots Stirring 4. Omens 5. Spires Burn EP 6. Gold & Silver Sessions 7. Elder Pretty close to my order, though I'd put Omens over Dead Roots. As early as mid-2010s, a number of Elder acolytes have popped up. Poland's Weedpecker was noticeably influenced by them by their third album. I'll have to think about it to remember other names.
I am pretty sure on future listens "Reflections of a Floating World" is going higher for me. So much to take in on that album, but I am liking that one more and more.
One of my favorite bands, yet to see them live but hopefully sometime next year I'll make the trip to Montreal or Boston to check them out. 1. Reflections of a Floating World 2. Lore 3. Dead Roots Stirring 4. Omens 5. Elder First 3 are honestly interchangeable, all 10s IMO. Also make sure you check out Nick's other project 'Delving' if you haven't yet Pete, I'm sure you'd enjoy it.
I just recently discovered these guys. They are really great. There is a Mastodon kind of vibe, but there’s something about the spacey thing they do that really draws me to them.
I found Elder a few years ago. I love Omens its exactly what I needed in my life. I listened to it this past weekend on the beach at dusk with a nice fire and some cold beer
Huge fan of these guys, and the EPs are great too. My ranking as of today: 1. Dead Roots Stirring 2. Omens 3. Lore 4. Elder 5. Reflections of a Floating World
I'll never forget hearing Riddle of Steel part 1. My friend at the time had a cd he had burned of random metal and that track was on there. I was hooked from the first 30 seconds. I immediately got a hold of my friend and asked him about the song talking about "the holy commune of the trees" lol Been a fan ever since. It also was great for me because I was and am a big fan of the Conan movies which the songs pay tribute to.
Thanks Pete..,never heard of this Band, I have been listening to most of the albums by the way, the artwork on these albums are just fantastic, The Lore album is the first I'm gonna order ,vinyl of course
My favourite band of lockdown. They're on a indie German label called stickman records over here in Europe which is also king buffalo's euro label. My understanding is DiSalvo also does work for the indie label. I got all their albums(including Delving album) before Brexit kicked in on vinyl. I'd have to rank them. 1. Omens 2. Reflections of a floating world 3. Lore 4. Dead roots stirring 5. Elder So basically reverse chronological order, can't wait for the next album as a result
Ranking is pretty close in some places cause i really like them all: 1.Dead roots stirring 2.Reflections of a floating world 3.Omens 4.Lore 5.Elder 6.Gold & Silver sessions the Spires Burn EP is also outstanding. The transition songs from Dead Roots to Lore.
Not an easy band to achieve because so interesting . Like Giant .Nick DiSalvo and the band have limitless musicianship. Hats off. Category is 'play what I like to hear ' Another genius band is Tales of Murder and Dust . Pete check out their Movie track 'Hunted ' Have you heard or missed Tai Phong - samurai 1977 prog bliss .'out of the night' I challenge you to a recordmendation
Lol the other day you on the ‘31 Days’ show you said that Omens might be your favourite and now it’s your least favourite. That’s the power of their catalogue.

Enjoy. The Donald 👍💯
Thanks for the ranking, for me they check all the boxes. They`re definitely on my list of newer must hear bands. "Reflections" is probably my favorite.
Great show as usual ! Really like the ranking the albums that is back more regularly! Don’t know much about Elder but will check them out !

Seeing them for the first time on Wednesday. Did you like the show? Lots of other bands supporting?
Of the 3 I've heard, each is my album of that year. Thanks Mr. Froggy Throat!
I am pretty sure on future listens "Reflections of a Floating World" is going higher for me. So much to take in on that album, but I am liking that one more and more.
Wow so glad you dig them, been hoping you'd talk about them for q while now.

Caught them on your show the other day and ordered the lore album can't wait to get it
I just recently discovered these guys. They are really great. There is a Mastodon kind of vibe, but there’s something about the spacey thing they do that really draws me to them.
Amazing band. They’re playing in Oakland at the end of August. Unfortunately I’m going to be out of town.
The Silver and Gold Sessions is a great EP.
I found Elder a few years ago. I love Omens its exactly what I

Now listening to Lore- pretty heavy indeed. Has a mix of all good stuff on opening track . Guitarist very Page and some Sabbath influence👍
Thanks Pete..,never heard of this Band, I have been listening to most of the albums

Solid band, I really like Omen a lot, it’s become my favorite by them.

based ranking, im a huge elder fan and i would rank them the same way
Dead Roots Stirring will always be my number one, but Lore is not far behind.
Lol the other day you on the ‘31 Days’ show you said that Omens might be your favourite and now it’s your least favourite. That’s the power of their catalogue.
Key word is 'might'...then re-listening, I liked the other ones better! LOL
Really like Omens.
Delving Hirschbrunnen is also a great album by Mr Disalvo.
Agreed, especially for people looking for more of that gold and silver krautrock instrumental psych kind of thing.
Can't rank 'em... all 5-star masterpieces..
Very cool shirt. Although it must be the very least flattering shirt ever designed. Lol.
1. Lore
2. Omens
3. DRS
4. Floating World
5. G&S Sessions
6. Elder
7. Demo
8. Live at Roadburn
Eldovar doesn't count as an Elder record to me.
Check out the band Ancient Days
I would choose the library in order from newest (Omen) to 1st. But I love this band in general. Also their merger with Kadavar for Eldovar.
