I am glad to hear it! I spent the first two years of this channel just posting tutorials. This year I am branching out and it is awesome to hear the positive feedback.
2:10 works well for her because of it's light weight. If she was moving serious weight that's a freak accident in the making. 1:47 my favorite. Cheap to make/buy, easy to set up, and great resistance profile (unlike the horizontal ones which are just swinging weight side to side) 11:10 I would put the equipment in this gym outside the DIY category to be honest. It has a much higher level of engineering. But it is very beautiful.
romgd is correct @8:58 the resistance on a leg press/squat should be harder at the top and easier at the bottom. the issue with the squat is its sticking points and whatever weight you can do at the top is much too heavy at the bottom. his idea beats anything else here. Because it makes the resistance curve follow with the body's natural strength being more at the top and less at the bottom.
Just be extra careful with leg presses. They can be very dangerous if it goes wrong. I was at a commercial gym the other day and my foot slipped and the whole rack came crashing down on my shin. There was no safety at the bottom so nothing to stop it but my leg. Luckily… I was warming up at the time and it was just the empty rack, which is still heavy but not nearly as heavy as it might have been. Honestly could have lost my leg if it happened on a working set. Point being, when you’re constructing it at home, make sure you do your due diligence in the construction.
That's weird, any leg press at a gym should have a safety pin. Are you sure you didn't miss it? I do leg press all time and set the safety pin at the end of range of motion so I'm never in danger.
dang, so i guess it isn't worth it to build your leg press design, based on what you said about it here. :/ it's tough to know what to do and where to go for the legs stuff... (home gym)
WHAT MOST people FORGET . LEG press should be done as last exercise of the given workout . SO YOUR whole body from your waist down is FULLY warmed up. SO you have F.R.O.M & P.O.F is most comfortable . YOU dont need MASSIVE weight at home Think about Pre Exhaust and working all " links " .
I like how people have ingenuity. But seriously look at used equipment. Now virus lock down over, gym equipment looses value faster than a stolen kia. In 2023 I got a commercial parabody vertical leg press $100, powertec compact hack squat $200, tuff stuff peck deck $20, and tons free gym stuff from a spin bike, fan bike, stair climber, even a free fancy air assault mannual treadmill because had broken runners cost $60 to fix.
i get what you're saying..... a lot of these feel rickety and you can see how this might go if things fail, esp with any heavy weights. some of the designs are elegant, and safeties seem well prepared. some seem....... like pintrest hacks lol. oof. i just see injury on some of these.
I think the dune buggy looking one was my favorite. People are so creative.
That one is amazing!
mine too. it was so smooth, and innovative and easy. top marks.
I like the diy smith machine leg press , Honestly love this channel so much, been really bored of the same old gym content from other channels

I agree with all of this!

Yikes! Glad you're okay!
@@kidbrown2010 There are two safeties on this machine. One at the top and one in the middle which is functionally useless. Nothing at the bottom.
how many Yeahs did you today?

These people need some rom…..
Totally
all this effort just do avoid doing barbell squats because they are significantly harder to do than an easy leg press LOL !
Who’s avoiding barbell squats? You?
Bro, squats and leg press are all a part of a well rounded leg day.
@@KaizenDIYGym if you are doing a barbell squat then doing a leg press is a waste of time..........

It is great to have options. Sounds like you are fortunate enough to live in an area where that’s an option. Super cool.
Why always Jesus? And not Mohammed! Or Buddah! Never could understand this
I ask the same thing literally every day
Jesus????
Unfortunately, yes
all this just to avoid squatting, pathetic
Most people do leg press after squats. Sounds like you end leg day after squats. Whatever works bro!
Sadly, I feel like a bunch of these people may find themselves nominated for a Darwin Award….
Wow, that’s pretty extreme. Most of these designs have safety mechanisms built in to prevent death but you’re definitely entitled to your opinion.
