  • After a somewhat disappointing first attempt, I decided to give TPU filament another try with the Flashforge Adventurer 5M.

Holy shyte I can make crocs for my kids! 🤣
Also, I’m not sure if you already do this but I did many years ago when the 3d printers were few and far between, and no one had one. It’s helped me a whole lot with the printers I’ve used. I kept a detailed build log spreadsheet with what I printed, when I printed, kind of filament (brand / color) temps that I used (bed & nozzle) some detailed settings (supports / z-hop / retraction / etc) if it failed or completed, a few observation bullets on the print (if it had layer shifting, stringing / brittle / goopy / etc) and if I made any repairs, adjustments or upgrades to the machine in question. Knowing that has allowed me to really dial in specific temps for the budget grade filaments I was using.
It is an additional step in the workflow that will take a little time but knowing all of that now has allowed me to help many many folks on various 3D printing Facebook pages over the years troubleshoot and accomplish what they’ve set out to do and more 😊
Maybe someone else here will find that tool useful as well. Just thought I’d share and am looking forward to more content! Thanks!

Wow. That's really impressive. Thank you for showing this because very few people have show how well TPU prints on this machine.

I need to get myself a dryer either homemade or buy one as I had issues with clogs too printing TPU tires. But will check out your profile for Orca as well. One thing I did was print only one tire at a time / that seemed to work better. And I also pulled a decent loop of filament off the spool and left it hanging under the printer as I think the 5M had issues pulling the filament off the spool. Just made sure it wouldn’t get caught on anything!

One of the few people I have seen with that placement for the Croc. So many people print it flat with a raft and have so many supports inside. It looks awful after, and TPU supports aren't always the eaiset to clean up

Thank you very much for your content, your channel is the reason I went with this printer. On a side note, could you please share a link to the STL model of the shoe, I was not able to find it in a description

You gotta try flexible pla! I grabbed a spool from flashforges sale and it’s a great filament. Prints just as fast as pla and is hard/flexible enough to make phone cases. I crank out one per hour.

I’m doing a project that will need some tires from TPU, I’m gonna need to invest in a dryer

I bought a Creality dryer and tried printing eSun TPU while the filament was still in the dryer. Needless to say it was a massive fail as the printer just didn't want to pull the filament, I think it was just too much friction from the rollers in the dryer. I have wondered since if the way I had the filament loaded was the issue, coming up from the the bottom of the roll rather than over the top, if that makes sense.

I also have the filament coming from the bottom in my dryer, but rinting from a dryer did prove to be more complicated than I imagined.

I see other people have had to place the dryer above the printer to get better results

I know this is off topic but I'm at my wits end. I have the 5m with 2,7,7 firmware installed and it will not connect to wifi when powered on. I then power it off and on again and it will connect. when I go to wifi settings it will not even show any available networks. I even tried doing static IP as well but since it cannot detect any networks the static does not work either, It also seems the MAC address on the printer is different from what my router reports. Thanks in advance for any insight as this is a great printer outside of this issue I am facing at the moment. Far better than any of the Creality machines I own.

I can't help but it is well worth heading over to the FlashForge Reddit community, lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks there.

@@monkeysausageclub Thanks! Ive looked around the reddit group and doesn't seem the same issue is popping up. Most are just unable to connect to wifi but can still see their networks. Thanks for heads up though. Much appreciated. Edit: Never mind. I found some stuff, thanks again.

Have you sent an email to FlashForge? They are REALLY good about getting back to you. I ended up having to do a full factory reflash of mine, but it fixed everything.

@@ThisisDD I have. I'm in the middle of that now. Just thought maybe someone had an easy instant fix. I also tried the factory reset with the same problem. They have been responsive though. We will see. Love this printer otherwise.

giantarm/geeetech TPU works GREAT in this printer. I have made lots of things simply because they come out so well in it that didn't even have to be flexible LOL
