This video will save me someday, subscribed! 2001 Tacoma 2.7L
My batt. light came. O'Riley's test said voltage reg.
Going to have my original Denso alt. rebuilt locally or find a low mile used. My 99 has 263K.
No chinese replacement for me!
Enjoyed you leaving in all the real life dropped tools and nut.
REAL LIFE D.I.Y.
THANKS
(when you backed out of the driveway for test drive, looked like my area in Upstate SC)
You might be right about the area. (O'Riley's on Lauren's Rd?) If you find a good rebuilder, please share. We have all Japanese cars, and that would be good info to have. Thanks for the comment David!

@@davidhowell7901 Awesome. Thanks David! That’s not too far from me at all.
Dave always keep your battery post clean your truck will love you for it.. and battery lite means alt is bad......
Thanks for the tip, CCdude!
I think I’m going to replace my alternator my
Lights are flickering your video looks very good to use as a fire time diy
May your repair be a sucessful one!!
Nice video. Thank! would you have considered rebuilding( in a specialty shop) the bad alternator had it been a ND?
Yes, Donald. I’d rather have it rebuilt than buy aftermarket. Thanks for the comment!
I'm replacing mine right now. Night driving I noticed the high beams were flickering. I plugged in my volt meter and saw voltage fluctuating from 14.1v to 12.6. eventually it stopped fluctuating and started dropping. I turned everything off in my truck and drove home on low beams. Battery is fine.
How did you get the disconnect off? Do you squeeze in and pull? What did you do with the screwdriver? Mine is stuck
I have 2007 Tacoma 2.7L and I'm having the same issue. My dash battery light came on. I replaced the alternator and the battery read 12.3V but the alternator was fluctuating ranges from 11.2 to 14.3. It sucks that a new alternator from ebay would do this. I'm going to a nearby junk yard and pickout a used alternator. Thanks.
Thanks for the anecdote. ... Yeah, it's not uncommon to hear stories of these cheap alternators and starters not working or having problems right out of the box.
Can you help with the search you did to find that alternator??? Toby
I think I found it on eBay or LKQ auto parts.
Thank you
Thanks for watching :-)
my pivot bolt is really stuck in there, any know any fixes?
maybe an impact, or use a cheater🤔
We need an update
4 diodes in the alternator form a bridge rectifier that changes AC to DC.
Ah! Thanks:-)
Bad voltage regulator is my guess.
my tacoma 1st gen has over 300,000 and still original alternator.. denso is all i use in my toyotas for their electrical needs...lol
Nice!
I made it to 397,000 before getting the battery light of doom
