- Squatters beware. Florida's latest law makes it easier to remove those illegally staying on private property. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed HB 621 into law Wednesday, eliminating squatters' rights in the state. "We are putting an end to the squatters scam in Florida," DeSantis said. "While other states are siding with the squatters, we are protecting property owners and punishing criminals looking to game the system."
Every state should pass this.
Why? To keep homeless in the streets?
WTF, then let them in your home then, if you even own a house!
Bobby 🤣😂🤣😂 go charge your government phone at a bus stop.
@@anthonyg801 if I had a second/spare house I would. No need for someone to own multiple homes while there are homeless people
@@P2Feener305 what’s wrong with the bud?
Finally!!!! This is amazing and every state should sign a bill like this
should but states lke calif & NY never will.
can't believe this has to be a "bill" and not just an automatic ruling in court, if it is NOT yours you have no claim to it, period!
Absolutely 💯
heh, you have no right to breathe air then :)
@@thesnare100Heh call a therapist
@@that1joe929 I was kidding
It is the courts that are in league with those who want to drive us out!
WHY do squatters even have "rights"?
Look up “adverse possession” laws. The history is there.
@@GenXamerica The key part of those laws is "uncontested". That is NEVER the case for squatters.
@@GenXamerica maybe what he's saying is from a moral perspective, just because squatting was LEGAL does not mean it's morally right.
Exactly! That is what I was wondering too. Why do the have rights when they are literally stealing! ImThey are basically burglars! I can’t even believe what I am seeing.
Who has a long long long track record of supporting disruptive social events and bad laws? protects them from unkind commentary.
Finally a law that makes sense!!!! All 50 states need to do this now!
The US is made of more than 50 states, add the others to the list as well.. Lol✔✔💯💯
Not all 50 states all across the world 🌎
New York would never 😆
shouldn't be needed trespassing & breaking and entering should already exist in every state its crazy more laws need to be passed for this.
@@johnrussell5896 The Rest of the World DOESN'T have the Problem of squatters EVEN here in Canada there's NO SQUATTERS. This is mostly a problem in the States.
It's just common sense.
Yeah but unfortunately common sense isn’t common.
I'm using this. @@yumiko0017
Having a Governor with common sense has become a luxury we need to be extremely grateful for ...

ABC News should title their story correctly. Florida governor signs law giving rights to homeowners
Most rental houses are owned by corporations. This is not helping regular homeowners at all.
Thank flippers and investors for this issue
@@shanerogers9386people have invested and flipped houses for years. I bet large banks buying up houses is probably closer to the problem.
@@derekwhite9932 it’s all of the above I think. But most of what comes to market here is owned by a flipper or an investor on plan B or C. I’m in palm beach county FL and I have heard that 75 percent of all purchases are speculators. It looks like more from my perspective. List prices are 100 percent to over 400 percent higher vs 2021. It’s the Wild West

Great Governor!
How? Do u own multiple houses? How does this help you at all?
Awesome Governor
You mean after all the pressure it took to get this done. Sure

Florida signs squatters bill while my governor is busy signing a "Strippers bill of rights" .
Priorities.
😂😂😂
I am Canadian and I hear ya dude 😂
That is so funny, not the bill but your statement,
I feel bad for you man
This would never happen in NY because it discriminates against criminals
Sound like California 😂
And which special group rules over both NY and California? Dare to guess? loves them like family.
"Squatters' rights" is, and should be everywhere, an oxymoron. Thieves don't have a "right" to take someone else's property. I hope laws like this are passed everywhere.
All 50 States need this
ALL states need this law!!!
When are all states going to follow his lead and enact laws against squatters?
Thank goodness. Again, this is why Ron is the best governor in the nation.

It’s about time.
Let’s take our country back one law at a time!
This should be nation wide tomorrow!!
Can we make this nationwide
Well done Florida 👏👏👏
He has done some great things in Florida Put Disney in their place, stopped the forever alimony, now the squatters are out and toll breaks, gas tax breaks etc...
We need more like him. Our country would prosper greatly.
I still can't believe this was still happening. It's crazy that someone that owns their property can't remove people.
They can. The problem is that you had to go to court for that and the courts are backlogged, so it would take a long time and money wasted for the squatters to be kicked out.
Hear that Texas?
Why would they wait until July to implement new laws?! It needed done yesterday!
Most likely to allow to finalization of regulations and allow LE to ask questions and get clarification of regulations. Plus any legal challenges. This waiting period is standard in almost all new legislation.
July 1 is the start date of a lot of things like budget so it may have something to do with that.
Texas & all states need to do this ASAP!!
Nice job Ronny! Hopefully the rest of the country follows suit.
What such of bill so much needed,I’m not in Florida and I’m so happy for these news
California has the worst governor in the whole nation and also history
How is squatting even a thing? Wouldn’t it be breaking and entering? Trespassing? It’s private property. This shouldn’t even be a thing.
This man has been the best Governor Florida has ever had. About time someone ended the squatter scam.
Now we need the rest of the states to get on board with a squatters bill. Nobody should feel helpless over their own property.
I contacted all my local state lawmakers to tell them Maryland needs to do the same.
try to trespass and squat on properties in the Philippines, and the full force of the law will drag you out. im actually surprised that evicting squatters in the US is so complicated that owners get jailed for it.
This is something I can get behind. For all the country.
Every state should follow Florida.
It should allow owners to remove squatters by ANY means necessary and refund them for cleaning services if it leaves a mess.
Sweet! Finally some frigging common sense! I love my state!
Great News !!!!
Finally something not attacking people. How this was ever allowed to go on in the first place. Now maybe if the minimum wage matched the rest of the economy.
As a landlord I'm renaming this governor, Right On Ron!.
New York needs this
This should be in EVERY STATE!!!
We are so lucky to have him
Only in the US would we need new Laws to remove someone during a home invasion and/or Property theft.
actually squatting started with British common law
He truly is one of the best governors I think I’ve seen since living in the US since 90s.
house and senate should come with a bill like this.
Florida is so blessed. I've Governor envy.
I can’t believe people can just break into peoples property and claim it.
Common sense..and from Florida ! Well done, Governor !
I cant believe they had to sign a bill in the first place. How ridiculous was the law before this
NEEDS TO BE FEDERAL LAW!!!
Make this NATIONWIDE!
Finally some common sense!!
Okay I'm sorry but if it's that quick to pass a bill wtf is everyone doing? I mean, our system should NOT be this BROKEN if they can just quick fix all this shit!?!?!?!
NEW YORK NEEDS THIS IMMEDIATELY
What an absolute win for America❤
Super ❤
Glad florida has a governor that believes in following law and order.
Thank you Ron, need more politicians who will work for the American people.
Representing American Values and taking action immediately. Proud American at work.
How does someone have rights to property that isn't theirs?
Thank you so much. This is a great step in the correct direction.
Libs: Ooooooh! He is so MEAN !!!!! The what's yours is mine crowd has to go!
They have to do jail time
Pretty much the most obvious law in the history of man. What’s sad is this is presented as a big win. This confuses and worries me.
So basically to get around this new law, all squatters have to do is rent for a month under a lease, then stop paying the rent. This will turn them in to squatters, and the property owner will now have the long process of evicting them. As a property owner myself, this really doesn’t change the eviction process much. Getting a non-payer out is a long expensive process, as this is considered a “civil case.” The dead beat “tenants” can now occupy that property, and because that is considered a “civil case” police can’t be called to get them out because they are considered “tenants” and not “squatters.”
It wasn't intended to shortcut eviction, and is illegal to use for such.
@@icecold9511 Yes, I am aware of that fact. But what I’m addressing is that there are ways around the new law that the squatters will use to occupy a property without paying.
@@user-ri6iq7to8h
Background checks is all I can say. Personally, I moved out of rental business. Just not worth it right now.
@@user-ri6iq7to8h Then they get an eviction on their record so anyone who checks will see it. Ruins their credit and can be used for damages and wages garnished, liens placed on property (ie. vehicles, bank accounts, investments). It is just not worth the hassle on the squatters/deadbeat renter side. It doesn't leave the property owner holding the bag, it leaves the deadbeat renter holding it where it belongs.
It's really not that hard to remove squatters.
I'm in wisconsin and love governor Ron De Santis
Great job
HE IS A HERO!!!! Come fix CA next please!!!!!
Yes, California please🙏
Why California since there aren't tiny mosquitoes biting people like in Florida?
Please take him !! We want him out of Florida
I say this as an ex- Californian, that place is unfixable.
@@smitty5890 You might be in the minority here.
This should be common sense, not something a law has to enforce. Sheesh
Should be a federal law as well. It would be awesome if ICE shows up in a Bear-Kat if there's more than one and backed up by the National Guard. I'm writing my representatives to introduce a Federal law to back up states that have passed this law. Law enforcement needs to work together. I believe this will slow and possibly stop illegal immigration.
New York needs to follow this.
They need to pass this nationwide, don't know how squatters ever got tights. Its a weird perspective
Every time someone tells me to hate him... he keeps doing stuff that makers me want him to stay...
Hip hip hoorah! You mean we are finally starting to return to the America of law and order? Yes!!! What I don't understand is why our government ignored the "breaking and entry" crime to begin with.
Should have been that way in the beginning! you don't belong there...get the beep out!
All states, no squatters 🚫 and please do something about the squatter in the white house!
Thank you for following us with this decision Florida -California
Finally a state with common sense.
Isnt squattering equivalent to home invasion.
Yeah! Take notes NY state
Florida for the win! Other states should follow!

This is common sense. Pass the law!
at least 1 governor doing his job....when will the rest follow???? This is insane!
