@@thelastofyou I mean… in New Super Mario Bros you needed a mini mushroom to access certain parts of a level. Oftentimes this would NOT be provided in that level. That being said, Ryu frustrates me too lol.
The speed run categories are going to be insane for this game. I'm sure "badgeless" will be one. For ones which incorporate badges, there's going to be a ton of calculus as to which ones are worth the time to get.
I honestly can't wait for Wonder badges ,object and enemies to be added to Super Mario Maker 2 or 3. Going to feel so fresh, Mario Wonder certainly already does.
@@galmenz6118 It might be more complicated than that in a few months. Vertical levels wouldn't benefit as much from the speed badges so the double jump might be the way to go. Or maybe the grapple.
Don’t forget there are going to separate categories for easy mode characters and normal mode characters as well and it will be interesting to see how that will go.

The Search Party levels are A LOT more fun when playing online with other people. I think I had a lot better time with this game activating the online features than keeping them off for that "pure" experience. You can always reject the respawn help by holding L+R. Also finishing levels at the same time as other people and just knowing that your sharing the experience with people was a fun bonus.
I found that Ninji dance party is SO much more enjoyable if you _only_ jump with the music.. it was instantly and still is my favourite level by far! Though that may be because I'm a musician not a speedrunner :P and omg the quiz! haha! they asked me different questions though, mine were so much harder! my game was like: okay, hotshot! how many badges do you have right now?! ......!?! but yeah, great video, thanks for doing this!
Agreed that level was so fun and charming. You’re supposed to jump with the music. He didn’t notice or care when the effects would reset when he missed the jumps because he plays like a speedrunner UA-camr and doesn’t stop to enjoy things like this.
For real, I just imagine badge use in Mario Maker. I feel that Nintendo will probably limit badge use selection to creator choice. So you can get people to use the crazy bounce feet badge and try to get around their levels. Gonna be some tough platforming with that badge. 😂

now that i am finally playing this game myself, i am actually amazed at how much Ryu skipped in the Sunbaked Desert, at least 1 wonderseed house, the big spikeball level, invisibily badge 1, and some others etc.
I finished smw just today and i love to see ryu struggling at exactly the same parts like I did - even if I died hundred times more often while playing it :'D
I like the Manic nature of the game because I can watch this but I know when I play it eventually, I’ll forget everything because of all the levels are bright craziness

Find it interesting that they can make Mario games look so crisp and clean for the switch, but there are others that just look so bad to the point it looks like it is on completely different hardware. Most recent sonic game for comparison...it looks way more aliased and most of the material effects glitch out, but on Mario the lines look more crisp and material effects look so much better. Different engines and developers, but god the difference is night and day as to what they can accomplish.
High Voltage Gauntlet reminds me of the pikmin 2 cave levels, mainly the toy land areas. Your expressions in that level is what it feels like being any pikmin except for yellow Also wonder seeds are one hell of a drug

If they do a standalone Super Wonder Maker instead of incorporating all the previous versions of Mario I still feel it would be worth getting. There is so much in this game to get creative with.
Only badge I used was the gliding cap and then went and just used the dolphin one on non water levels and made the game a bit more challenging and more fun
The wonder flower mini game in wubba ruins reminds me of a very old mobile game called Gish where you played as a ball of slime. It had a bit of blood and violence but was generally fun.
I'm glad it wasn't like Prometheus and covenant because to me those movies had subpar ideas but most of all delivery. It seemed to do more to separate what made the first two alien movies great and felt like it was just giving Ridey Scott something to do. They are not terrible movies but no thanks
I'm thinking for the emblems, they should sit in the level like a powerup, but be permanent (until full death, but retained when taking damage), and they could have an X emblem that gets rid of the current emblem (if any). Essentially by doing this, you don't run into the situation where taking damage removes your powerup (ex the link costume) preventing you from making any progress in the level and forcing the creator to hand out pity link costumes. Or the creator has to just go full lethal and full kill you when you screw up. Also having a no ability emblem would serve as a way to strip off the emblem if the creator wants to control your use of it (like by putting it in front of a pipe or door that you have to go through.)
Gimmick-wise, it does feel like the devs were starting to run out of fresh ideas by world 4. Dev1: well, we've done so many wonder flower segments, what next? Dev2: uh... Idk, let's make a really fast one... And then... Idk I guess we'll do a really slow one too
It's kinda funny how they have had so few gimmicks overall the past 10 years or so, then Odysse came out and they were like "What if Mario was a T-Rex for some reason?" And when every one liked it they were like "What if we made a game that was literally just 100 gimmicks in a row?" Not a terrible thing but it doesn't exactly make for challenging replayability
You missed another Captain Toad spot in World 1, there is a hidden pipe to him. While it doesn't count towards the 100% green checkmark, it is something to find....
Haha I thought you needed the drill power-up for the statue crush secret exit, I was like maybe if I drill into the ground the statue will go over me and I can kill the guy That obviously didn't work either, I felt so dumb when I figured it out
I have an idea about how to get past that Bowser statue and I'm waiting to see if you figured the answer out first though to see if I was right. But I'm not sure if what I'm thinking about will work on the ground in that stage.

jet badge covers like 70% of the levels. dolphin for water levels, flutter for scrollers and i think that is pretty much it?

You can do 1-2's secret exit right from the get go lol, no badge needed. I did each world 100% before moving on to the next.

it would have been neat if the final bowser fight was really the first castle boss, and they kept adding more tonal and rhythmic parts.
