Thanks for the informative video. I felt this crunching sound in both my knees suddenly(today). I suspect the reverse lunges that I did with overhead kettlebell weights could have triggered this. Because I felt discomfort when standing up from the lunge position. Probably I rushed into progressive loading. From that point I hear the crunching sound when walking up the stairs, when doing lunges, whenever I drive my knees over my ankle. Fortunately I don’t feel troubling pain yet. However a dull discomfort is there which draws my attention from time to time. Could this condition be reversed with right exercises?
@@AgeFitwithTess thanks for the reply. it definitely gotten better with isometric exercises which I am doing in consultation with a Physio. But I am also reading that this sound will take time to disappear provided I am consistent with the exercises, is it so? And can this condition lead to osteoarthritis if let untreated? And can I go back to performing lunges and taking part in sporting activities?
Hello.. I am facing same sound but only sound no. Pain ... Only sound during Squats or other exercises. Its been 3 months but there is No pain just Sound in knee during some particular exercises
Hi Devansh, thanks for the comment. It can be the case where there is sound and no pain. The sound may not impact function. How are you going with your squats?
Thanks Devansh. typically if there is no pain, the sound is similar to what is described in the video as crepitus, is not acute, and is not limiting function, generally the noise should not be a limiting factor to activities like squats. Some common reasons to stop squats and exercise until review by a Physio are the noise is more acute or sudden, related to a single event or trauma, or accompanies pain.
Can you have knee crepitus from heavy work?i had a severe pain in my knee joint for a day and now it's making a grinding sound when elevated up and down.
Sorry to hear about your knee pain Jacob. How long have you had this pain for? If it has been more sudden or has become a lot worse more suddenly there may be an acute cause of the pain.
Hi Seoh Leng Tay. Thank you for the question. There may be a few different explanations for snapping sound in the hip or knee. Usually the sound is a single more defined "snap" sound during movement as opposed to multiple sounds heard. Here is some information that may be helpful. www.physio-pedia.com/Snapping_Hip_Syndrome#:~:text=Snapping%20Hip%20Syndrome%20(SHS)%2C,or%20intra%2Darticular%20in%20origin.
Hi, I am having clicking in both knees from last two weeks but it does not hurt but sometimes there is slight pain in left knee when I go upstairs and frequently clicking of both joints when bend the knee What it can be problem in future? Thanks
@@AgeFitwithTess have to plan ahead first. I tend livestock 7 days a week so we will have to downsize first for me to take recovery time. And I haven't worked outside the home for 1.5 years so we really can't afford the surgery either. Even with decent insurance.
@@AgeFitwithTess My knee is feeling better after a recent fall, oddly enough, so I am getting good results with stretching. Feels a lot better but still planning on surgery eventually.

Doc said replacement surgery was my only option at 49 years old.
Knee locked on me a few times after working too much as a chef 2 summers ago. Knee has been so noisy since. I haven't worked on my feet in 1.5 years.
So sorry to hear that Nathan. Are you going to get surgery?
