During the mid-1950s, as a young boy, I lived a mile away from Ellyson Field, at the intersection of Copter Road and 9-Mile Road, so i saw these wonderful helicopters flying over all the time. Would love to know more about how these 'copters were used in training. Fifteen years later, I became a Marine pilot myself. Ellyson was flying the TH-57s exclusively then.

Dad flew the HUP for the Navy. His was #44 and he deployed on the first cruise of the USS Forrestal.

Single radial engine. Curious how the front rotors are driven? Via drive shaft inside the cabin to a differential system?
